00:00Complaint number one, Elle Duncan, who's now the studio host for all Netflix sports, so congratulations to her, formerly ESPN,
00:08okay?
00:09And regardless of what you think about her, she's a talented broadcaster, okay?
00:11That being said, she did refer to home plate as home base.
00:17Yes.
00:18Now, I'm sorry.
00:19If you're going to be the lead host for a baseball game on the network or the streaming platform,
00:26there are certain terms you have to know and get right.
00:30Home plate seems like a pretty obvious one, no?
00:34Yes.
00:34Now, overall, her performance to me, I think she was in a tough spot with no chemistry with the people
00:40and things like that.
00:40Yeah, because it was her first time working together, so it was Barry Bonds for part of it.
00:44And Rizzo.
00:46Rizzo and Pujols.
00:48And Pujols, right.
00:48And she's, of course, the host, so it's her job to kind of traffic cop it.
00:52Yeah, yeah.
00:52And, of course, there's the Jameis Winston bits as well.
00:55And the dude in the water and everything.
00:56Yeah, yeah.
00:56But that one, because she really got very popular with a certain segment of fans because of her smarts with
01:03women's basketball.
01:04Okay.
01:04She has to bring that same level of expertise to baseball if she's going to do baseball.
01:09And to be fair, she said it a couple times last night.
01:13Yeah.
01:13The first time I saw her say it was when they were showing the Jameis Winston highlights from college.
01:17Yes.
01:17When he stole home in a college baseball game.
01:19Yeah.
01:20At Florida State.
01:21Mm-hmm.
01:21And she talked about home base there.
01:23Yeah.
01:23Now, she obviously does not know that it's called home plate.
01:27Right.
01:27Which, by the way, and again, I'm not an L. Duncan hater, but shame on you.
01:32You've got to know the terms.
01:34Like, you have to understand that people love baseball very, very much.
01:39Yes.
01:39And when you refer to home plate as home base, you're not doing yourself any favors.
01:45Right.
01:45That being said, and in the short amount of time that I worked at FS1, your two and a half,
01:50three years, whatever it was, you have annoying producers in your ear the entire show.
01:55Right.
01:56Somebody should have said to her, L, future reference, home plate.
02:02Right.
02:02Right?
02:03Fix that.
02:03That's something you say once somebody jumps in.
02:06Immediately.
02:06Because they were jumping in constantly, especially with Bonds, Pujols, and Rizzo.
02:11Right.
02:11They were getting spoon-fed.
02:12I could tell you're watching it a bunch.
02:15Because when you're talking, you stop talking because you're listening.
02:18Oh, somebody just told Barry something.
02:20And they're all kind of new ass.
02:22So, up, Anthony Rizzo's getting something.
02:23So, that was kind of my first complaint.
02:25And I hurt my ears.
02:27Completely.
02:27Because now I know that you didn't care enough to do the work.
02:31You don't follow baseball.
02:33Or you're not a baseball fan.
02:35But calling home plate, home base, I'm sorry.
02:38And again, I want to be clear.
02:39I know a lot of people are mixed on L. Duncan.
02:42I'm not an anti-L. Duncan guy.
02:44I have no issue with L. Duncan.
02:46Good for her.
02:47Being the face of Netflix sports moving forward, right?
02:49But you've got to know the basic terminology.
02:52Like, for example, if they said to us, hey, we want you guys to cover curling.
02:57I would make sure I know the basic terms.
03:00Right.
03:00So, I don't embarrass myself.
03:02Right.
03:02Or, frankly, you know, disrespect the sport.
03:06Yes.
03:07Also, so 99% of that's her.
03:10I'll put 1% on the Netflix crew.
03:13I, me personally, if I'm producing that show, I have a talk with her before on things.
03:18And if she still says it, you're in her ear immediately.
03:20Right.
03:20Home plate.
03:21Right.
03:21So, 99% her.
03:231%.
03:23Okay.
03:24Thing number two.
03:25The main camera for us watching baseball games is the center field camera.
03:28You can see from behind the picture into the batter and the plate, okay?
03:32Yep.
03:32I, this just might be me.
03:34Maybe my eyesight's going.
03:35It looked foggy the entire time.
03:37It looked like they were using cameras that we used to use here that I complained about.
03:41It just didn't look like I was watching a professional broadcast of a baseball game.
03:47Outside of that, like, am I going to complain about it?
03:50It just, I was like rubbing my eyes like, honey, are my eyes messed up?
03:53Or does that screen look foggy?
03:55Agree.
03:55I thought at first it was me because of the shadows.
03:58The shadows were bad in the beginning because it was 5.25 or whatever.
04:01So, I thought it was me.
04:03By a third inning, and I see the shadows are gone.
04:06It didn't change, right?
04:06It didn't change.
04:07I saw you with me on that.
04:08I think number three.
04:10You have the commissioner of the sport, who's obviously a friend of ours, comes on the show all the time.
04:15Rob Manfred there.
04:16And I know it was a short inning.
04:18It was a 1-2-3, very quick inning.
04:20But when you're talking to Rob Manfred, and there's a lot of baseball issues that people are concerned about,
04:26most notably, is this the last year of baseball for a while?
04:29Because we all think we're headed towards a lockout, a work stoppage, a strike, whatever you might call it.
04:34And the four questions, and they only asked them four questions, were, what was your first opening day?
04:42When did you fall in love with baseball?
04:45Opening day.
04:45Would you agree to a 10-run rule, that was C.C. Sabathia's, and isn't ABS great?
04:53You have the commissioner of the sport there.
04:56And I'm not saying it's all going to be negative, and the only thing you ask is about a potential
05:00work stoppage a year from now.
05:02But baseball fans are talking about it.
05:04You have to ask that question.
05:06You have to.
05:07And they asked four questions.
05:09None of them were questions anybody really cared about.
05:12They were also beneath the commissioner to ask him stupid questions like that.
05:17And I thought that collectively, they all did a bad job.
05:20Not Rob Manfred.
05:22He answers the questions he was asked.
05:24But they were dumb questions of the commissioner.
05:26And if you want to ask real questions, he ain't going anywhere.
05:30The commissioner should have been asked to come back for the top of the next inning.
05:34Rob Manfred, say what you want about him, and I obviously know him very, very well,
05:38is never been afraid of answering any question you have.
05:42Never.
05:43So you should have asked him better questions.
