00:00A government-backed inquiry in Nepal has recommended prosecuting former Prime Minister K.P. Shama Oli over the deadly Gen
00:07Z protest last September.
00:09The panel found Oli guilty of negligence for failing to prevent dozens of deaths.
00:17The report said he failed to act to stop hours of gunfire that killed at least 19 protesters on the
00:24first day of anti-corruption demonstrations.
00:27In total, 76 people were killed and more than 2,500 injured during two days of unrest that toppled the
00:35government.
00:36The 970-page report also called for the prosecution of former Home Minister Ramesh Lekak and ex-Police Chief Chandra
00:44Kuberkapong for their roles in the violence.
00:46If convicted, all three could face up to 10 years in jail.
00:51The findings come just days before rapper-turned-politician Balendra Shah is sworn in as Prime Minister after a landslide
