00:07We're really excited because we have a new mountain lion exhibit here at the San Diego
00:12Zoo for two mountain lions, Kima and Koya. This is an opportunity for guests to see the
00:20mountain lions in a great exhibit that encompasses climbing structures, mountainous backgrounds,
00:26and a lot of structures that provide natural opportunities for them to engage in great
00:32behaviors. These mountain lions represent a key species for us because they're from our
00:42backyard. Not literally, but they're represented in our own backyard and we have this species
00:48throughout Southern California, San Diego and many other counties here in the state.
00:53It's all about animal welfare. What's best for the animal? What kind of exhibit will
00:59provide an opportunity for an animal to express natural behaviors? So not only do we have a great
01:07exhibit that's set up like this, but we also have measurable ways to account for the success
01:14of the exhibit and how it works for the animals.
01:18And folks who come in the evenings will be able to see a lot of activity because these mountain
01:25lions are particularly active in the early morning hours and in the early evening hours.
