00:04Il mondo di The Last of Us è pericoloso.
00:08Non so se vivi in una zona proteggata,
00:12c'è qualcosa di letto all'interno.
00:15Una volta che vengono da tua casa,
00:17sei in pericolato.
00:18E dove siamo andati la storia,
00:20dove siamo andati l'Eli,
00:22ogni passo di più,
00:23si è andato in più e più pericolato
00:25per portare queste persone alla justice.
00:32I would say that the world
00:35in every sense of the word
00:37is bigger than The Last of Us, Part 1.
00:40Both in scale
00:41and the amount of physical space
00:43that exists for you to explore,
00:45for you to encounter other people.
00:47Yeah, this route has its perks.
00:50Our hope is to make every corner a challenge,
00:54make every decision hard for Ellie.
00:56And so we do that not just in
00:58in the gameplay you experience
01:00but also in the level design.
01:02So part of that is making certain experiences
01:05really hostile,
01:05be it through weather
01:06or through rivers
01:09or craggy cliffs
01:11or slick snow.
01:13But we also use it in terms of
01:15how blind the player is.
01:17Like what can they see?
01:17How safe do you feel?
01:18Can you see a threat
01:19coming around the corner?
01:20You never know
01:21if the bullets in your gun
01:22are going to be enough.
01:23You never know
01:23if you can stop and bandage your arm.
01:25you can never fully breathe.
01:27And we want you to be in alignment with Ellie
01:29who can never fully breathe
01:31when she experiences this trauma.
01:33For Jackson specifically,
01:36we wanted to make it feel
01:37like a very close-knit kind of community
01:40that's focused on family,
01:42focused on sustainable ways of living.
01:45I obviously have the hydroelectric dam generator
01:47that's powering the town
01:48so we have electricity in Jackson,
01:51which is not something
01:52that maybe players would expect
01:54to see in the world.
01:55But given that we're further in time,
01:57we wanted to show
01:58that there are certain people
01:59dedicated in the world
02:01to rebuilding a life
02:02that doesn't revolve around
02:05killing people and scavenging.
02:10As you walk around the town,
02:11you can hear kids laughing.
02:13You could see people going into restaurants
02:15and eating and it's a very kind of tranquil town.
02:19Now, we know there's all these horrible things
02:21happening outside the walls,
02:22but they've been able to protect
02:24the innocence of this town.
02:26Jackson, in many ways,
02:28represents what is at stake
02:30for our characters.
02:32A life of peace
02:34and relative comfort.
02:37A life where you can fall in love.
02:40A place where children can play
02:43and it's okay.
02:44And I think, you know,
02:46when we were looking at building out Jackson,
02:48it's like, okay,
02:48how many of those moments
02:49can we represent?
02:51What's awesome about
02:53The World of the Last of Us
02:54is it shows just how precious
02:55the things that we take for granted
02:57in our everyday lives,
02:59how precious those things really are.
03:08Seattle compared to Jackson
03:09is very different.
03:12It's more of a war zone,
03:14I would say.
03:16Part of the interesting thing
03:18with Seattle
03:18or the Pacific Northwest
03:20is that there's all this rain
03:22and all this foliage
03:23and wildlife
03:24and it's this very lush area
03:26that if someone were to settle down,
03:28it'd be a pretty good place
03:29to settle down
03:30just as far as
03:31the kind of fruit you can scavenge,
03:33the animals you can hunt.
03:34And then because it is so lush,
03:36because it is so
03:37teeming with resources,
03:39is why there are multiple factions
03:41trying to fight over those resources.
03:46One faction you run into in Seattle
03:48is the Washington Liberation Front.
03:51When the outbreak happened,
03:53the military took some pretty drastic actions
03:55and quarantined parts of the country.
03:58and this was their way
03:59of protecting the population
04:01that has survived
04:01this horrendous outbreak.
04:04And because of that,
04:05it led to rise of these resistance groups.
04:08And in the first game,
04:08we saw the fireflies.
04:10And we heard about other groups
04:11and in this game,
04:12we get to see,
04:12here's another group that rose
04:14called the Washington Liberation Front
04:15that was able to defeat the army
04:17and thereby take over
04:20a lot of their equipment.
04:21They're this very militaristic faction.
04:28And at the same time,
04:30you have the Seraphites.
04:31And they're a religious group
04:33that also came up
04:33out of the outbreak
04:34that believed that
04:35the pandemic came
04:37because of sin.
04:41They're trying to reset the world
04:43and return it to a better place
04:45than it was.
04:46In The Last of Us,
04:48almost any group
04:48that has survived this long
04:49has to be dangerous.
04:51If you're not dangerous,
04:52you're not going to survive.
04:53You're going to become
04:54someone's victim.
04:55And the two factions
04:56you run into
04:57are both very dangerous.
04:59The WLF has a lot
05:00of military equipment
05:01that they're able to use
05:02to defend the area
05:03and they have large numbers,
05:04whereas the Seraphites
05:06are very quiet and stealthy
05:08and is able to use
05:10the large amount of foliage
05:12to their advantage
05:12and they fight more
05:13in this kind of guerrilla warfare.
05:16How you deal with them
05:17is going to be different
05:18because they have
05:19different language,
05:19they have different
05:20communication style,
05:21the scars will whistle
05:22to each other
05:23with this different language.
05:25And they have some
05:27of the stuff that you have.
05:28You have a bone arrow,
05:28they can hit you with arrows
05:29and impale you
05:30and you have to pull
05:31the arrow out.
05:32They have big sledgehammers
05:34and melee weapons.
05:37At WLF,
05:37they have trained dogs
05:38that will sniff and attack you.
05:45Dogs are a new level of threat
05:46that Ellie hasn't had to negotiate before
05:48and hopefully they create
05:50a new complicated choice
05:52for the player.
05:54We saw in them
05:55an opportunity
05:56to challenge people's perceptions
05:58of what a combat setup can be.
06:01We wanted to find
06:02really hard choices.
06:03The dogs themselves have names.
06:05They're called out by their owners.
06:07We wanted every setup
06:09to be challenging.
06:14Oh, that smell.
06:15It looks like Infected did this.
06:17Yeah.
06:19How many do you think
06:19it would take
06:20to bring down a moose?
06:21Infected are still a threat
06:23in this world.
06:24We wanted to take
06:25first our basic classes
06:27that we had in the first game
06:28and say,
06:28okay, how do we,
06:29what's different about them now?
06:31So we'll have scenarios
06:32where way more runners,
06:34like we can have hordes
06:35sometimes of runners
06:37coming after you
06:37and it might be about
06:38just escaping
06:39because the odds
06:40are just overwhelming.
06:42You know,
06:42this thing just keeps mutating.
06:44There's certain evolutions
06:45of Infected
06:46that you haven't seen before,
06:47certain new classes.
06:49There's the shamblers
06:51which kind of have these
06:54exploding acid clouds
06:56when you get near them.
06:57You're running down a hallway
06:58and you have to suddenly
06:59make a decision like,
07:00oh, do I want to take the damage
07:01and go through this cloud
07:02or find some other route
07:04or go back the way I came
07:05and it kind of forces you
07:06to on the fly
07:07kind of make new decisions
07:08about how you're going to deal
07:10with the threat behind you
07:11or potentially in front of you.
07:13So again,
07:14it's about how do we make
07:16fighting against
07:17Infected Intelligence.
07:19So when you come on a space,
07:20you're listening to audio cues
07:21because different classes
07:22will make different sounds.
07:24If you just go in guns blazing
07:25and throw caution in the wind,
07:27you could easily get overwhelmed
07:28and regret that strategy.
07:30That level of uncertainty
07:32and instability
07:34is something our characters
07:35have to carry with them
07:36every day
07:37as they go out
07:38into the world
07:38to protect the people
07:40they love most.
07:41And that threat
07:41is banging on their door
07:43every day.
07:44I really hope you make it.
07:52PlayStation.
07:53PlayStation.
07:54PlayStation.
07:55See you.
07:56.
07:56.
07:58.
07:58.
07:59.
07:59Grazie.
