00:12New World's an open world MMO
00:14set in an alternate version of the 17th century.
00:16It takes place on an island
00:18we call Eternally.
00:21It's a place of legend.
00:22It's a land of power
00:24and of treasure.
00:25It's a place where your choices matter.
00:28You get to live a life that is full of danger and adventure
00:32on a supernatural continent that has only just been discovered.
00:40We wanted to build this version of a haunted Eden.
00:43We wanted beautiful, picturesque landscapes
00:46with danger around every turn.
00:48There's these hints of supernatural and these things that show you
00:50you're not really anywhere you've ever seen before.
00:52Contrast is something that we really want players to feel
00:55as they move around the world.
00:56Every space they enter feels different and special
00:59from the space behind it.
01:00They feel like every hill they're going over there's a new adventure.
01:03Not many people know too much about Aeternum yet.
01:06I think that's where you come in as a player.
01:08And there are threats, but there's also opportunity.
01:11Rumors swirl about the power and danger of the island,
01:14but the people who go there don't really know what they're going to find.
01:17It could be Shangri-La or it could be something out of their worst nightmares.
01:24The thing that gives Aeternum this power and makes it supernatural special is
01:28there's this mineral that runs below the earth that's called Azoth.
01:32And it's known to have magical properties.
01:34Azoth can amplify things.
01:36Azoth itself is not really a good or bad necessarily.
01:39It's just this pure raw energy.
01:42Azoth has power to change things.
01:44It makes things more beautiful.
01:46And deadly.
01:47Azoth is different for everyone who sees it or knows about it.
01:52For some it's the fountain of youth.
01:54For some it's the philosopher's stone.
01:57For some it's the living embodiment of God or the devil.
02:02But one thing's for sure is it gives you, the player,
02:05a lot of really interesting powers to play with.
02:11When players arrive in Aeternum, they find evidence of other civilizations
02:16having been trapped there throughout history.
02:22The whole world is open to you and you're only limited by your skill
02:26and the difficulty of the enemies that you run into.
02:29It's completely classless.
02:30So you choose how you want to play by choosing the equipment
02:33and the weapons you choose also defines your play style.
02:36Players will have a lot of freedom to choose what they do and how they do it.
02:40One of the fundamental tenets of New World has always been autonomy.
02:43And that manifests in every single system in the game.
02:46The game adapts to the player and their play style.
02:49When you become the best blacksmith or the best sword fighter,
02:54the progression system supports that.
02:56They just have to keep doing what they do best.
03:03There's multiple settlements all over the world.
03:05And the corruption is always this invasive, aggressive force
03:09that's constantly trying to push back, trying to drive players out.
03:13The corrupted have massive armies growing in the north.
03:16And some of their influences are beginning to trickle down to the south
03:19where players are trying to build their homes.
03:21and they have a very particular idea of how the power of Eternum should be used.
03:26The world is going to push back against you in a couple of interesting ways.
03:31For one thing, as you grow more powerful and you head deeper into the world,
03:35obviously there's going to be resistance to come up and meet you.
03:38But one of the most exciting things about the game is that
03:42as you and other players begin to form settlements
03:46and you begin to push back the things in the woods,
03:50they'll come for you.
03:52You're going to find some really interesting battles that have to get fought
03:55in order to keep your foothold in this world.
