00:00But Connelly Early will start Sunday in Cincinnati.
00:04Johan Oviedo is in the bullpen, likely as a piggyback option.
00:08I'm reading here from Chris Cotillo.
00:09Yeah, I love it.
00:10Red Sox will reassess after a couple of turns through the rotation.
00:14But we're going to see one instance of the Red Sox putting some real stock
00:18in how these guys looked in spring training.
00:21Because, spoiler alert, outside of Connelly Early and Peyton Tolley,
00:24who's now with the Woo Sox, none of their starters really pitched well
00:27in the spring.
00:28And Oviedo already getting the boot to the bullpen.
00:32Competitive group, right?
00:34We looked at the good depth.
00:35They added a lot to their rotation.
00:37And she said, this is the strength of the team.
00:39It's one of the best rotations in the league.
00:41And I really felt like Connelly Early was one of their five best guys.
00:44Even before they all took the field in spring training,
00:47you were like, all right, you have Crochet, Suarez, Gray, Bayo
00:51as sort of the obvious four.
00:52Although I wouldn't rule out Early being better than Bayo in short order.
00:55But those are the four more established guys.
00:58Then you have guys coming off injury.
00:59You have Oviedo coming over in a trade.
01:01Then you have the other two young guys in Tolley and Early.
01:04I just liked Early.
01:06Last year, there was so much excitement with Peyton Tolley, as there should be.
01:09I think he's still going to be a really good player for them.
01:12I would like to see him in the bullpen to start and then become a starter.
01:16But whatever.
01:16They're going to have him as a starter.
01:17And maybe he'll be up in short order, depending on how everybody else does
01:20and the health of everybody else.
01:22But Early was nasty last year.
01:24He's got a bunch of different pitches.
01:25And he's been their best pitcher in the spring.
01:27So if you want to use any of the spring as, you know, metric,
01:32or if you thought there really was a competition, that's what I like about this.
01:35We thought it was like a bad job.
01:36It was going to be Oviedo.
01:38And that's what they were going to go with.
01:39And they were going to keep Early and Tolley down for service time
01:42like they did Meyer and Anthony a year ago.
01:45Not the case.
01:46He's going to get the third spot in the rotation.
01:48He pitched more innings in spring than anybody else for the Red Sox.
01:52It's a little different, I guess, if you include Baio's World Baseball Classic.
01:55But he was the best.
01:57He had like an ERA, like one and a half.
01:59Oviedo pitched yesterday.
02:00Didn't go great.
02:01I was wondering if that was going to be lined up where he could pitch that third game.
02:04So I like this move a lot.
02:06Like I like it.
02:08I think the team is going to be a playoff team.
02:11And I think the rotation is going to be what kind of carries them there.
02:14But I really believe they're going into the year with their five best guys.
