00:00So we brought up these numbers.
00:01They're 2-8.
00:01It's the worst start in franchise history.
00:03Some of those teams finished with winning records,
00:05especially the recent ones, but none of them made the postseason.
00:08And we added this caveat at the time, but now there's more playoff spots.
00:11Like in 2011, there weren't six playoff spots.
00:14I don't even think there were five at that point in time.
00:16And so the Red Sox crashed and burned on the last day of the year
00:19and really the last month of the year.
00:20But 90 wins now, your playoff team.
00:22So number one, there's more playoff spots.
00:24Number two, to your point, Keith, was the AL always this trash?
00:28There's only three teams with winning records.
00:30The Yankees, the Guardians, the Rangers.
00:33Everyone else is 500 or less.
00:35So, you know, I'm not telling you they're a lot to make the postseason or anything.
00:40I'm not even telling you Kalshi has it right.
00:42No, I just think they can make up their ground.
00:44I just would tell you that some of those past starts,
00:46as much as we were drumming them up,
00:48I think some of those past starts may not apply because the AL is down
00:51and there's an extra wild card.
00:53There's way more playoff spots that don't necessarily apply
00:55to some of those old models.
00:56Duck boats.
00:56The old models, too.
00:57It's like not only an extra wild card,
01:00there's two extra wild card spots.
01:01I don't think depending on how far back you want to go,
01:04it was just like you got to win the pennant.
01:05Like there's like a different, you know.
01:07That's why I wasn't really even going back to like the 60s.
01:10But some of them, it was one wild card or two.
01:12So like there's been a change in that.
01:14So you definitely have more of a chance.
01:15But it's crazy how all the sports are starting to like mirror themselves a little bit.
01:20Like when you look at the landscape at the AFC,
01:22the Eastern Conference in the NBA,
01:24the Eastern Conference in hockey,
01:25now the American League in baseball,
01:27like it does seem like talent is more spread out
01:31and there's less and less like juggernaut teams
01:35that are just going to run the conference or run the league.
01:37It seems way more wide open.
