00:00We have a very interesting social media post from the Cleveland Browns to share with you all.
00:04And if you're a father out there that has some experience, Lyman needs you.
00:07He needs your help to get a full night's sleep.
00:09In the words of my father, I demand a restful sleep.
00:12More on that at 820.
00:14Baseball is back.
00:15We had just wondered about this.
00:17Last segment.
00:18Opening night is live on Netflix this Wednesday, March 25th.
00:22Aaron Judge and New York Yankees clash with the San Francisco Giants.
00:27MLB opening night, Yankees, Giants, live on Netflix, 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific.
00:34Speaking of social media, you can see us on the free Odyssey app.
00:37Or excuse me, I should say YouTube Live for absolutely positively free.
00:40You can comment there.
00:42Jim has a comment.
00:43I think he sees John on YouTube Live.
00:45Hello, Jim.
00:47Ken, I am eternally disappointed in you and Anthony for allowing John to go on your show wearing a Penn
00:55State hat.
00:55And as a Syracuse grad whose father taught him that Syracuse Penn State was culture versus agriculture, I think punitively
01:05you guys should shave his head after the show.
01:07Well, that's a little strong.
01:08What I love, Jim, is that you have not noticed how much Penn State gear Ken wears on a daily
01:14basis.
01:15Why run Jim's trust?
01:15And how much Cincinnati gear your boy is going to be wearing coming up.
01:19Just tell Jared to go over to the football office and get some 4X.
01:25And I'll wear and I'll support him.
01:27That's all you need to do.
01:28I don't know what happened with Utah State.
01:30I don't know.
01:30We only asked for it for two years.
01:32Maybe the football office was on the other side of the building.
01:35At UC, just go on over to the football office and get me some 4X and send it on over
01:40here.
01:40I know you ain't got it in the basketball equipment room, but send it on over here.
01:44John went to Penn State, and obviously I got skin in the game now with Penn State.
01:49So, yeah, I'm going to wear a bunch of Penn State stuff.
01:50I didn't go to Ohio State.
01:51They ain't put no money in my pocket.
01:52When I was younger, I would have never.
01:54It would have been sacrilegious to wear anything but Ohio State.
01:58And now I'm like, ah, I'm at ease.
02:01I'm at comfort with it.
02:03When it's free, it really fits well.
02:06I mean, like, honestly, if one of my close friends or their family members ended up at Ohio State,
02:11like, as the football coach, like, if Matt would have went to Ohio State,
02:15if they wouldn't have hired Ryan Day, I'd be scarlet and gray.
02:18I wouldn't be, like, big nut.
02:19I wouldn't be paint in my face, but I'd be scarlet and gray the whole time.
02:21I could never do Michigan.
02:23I could.
02:24There's no chance I could ever do Michigan.
02:25I could.
02:25Well, I mean, you're a Michigan fan.
02:27I'm not a Michigan fan.
02:28You root for them every year they play Ohio State.
02:30Just going to say it, baby.
02:31I hate Ohio State.
02:32I just, I look at this, like, I went to Akron.
02:36Akron helped me.
02:37I'm an Akron fan.
02:40I like good programs.
02:41I like good people.
02:42They're good people, and they happen to go from Iowa,
02:45which I'm not going to stop wearing Iowa State stuff.
02:48So I'm wearing this, and I'll wear more Penn State stuff over time.
02:51And that's okay.
02:53But when it comes to the schools and everything, like, hey, man, I don't mind Ohio State.
02:57I don't hate Ohio State.
02:58Like, a lot of my claims I do.
03:00But they ain't putting no money in my pocket.
03:01If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense.
03:03So I ain't going to be, mm-mm.
03:06One day your children might choose a different school, and you'll be wearing that stuff, too.
03:10Yeah, of course.
03:10Hell, yeah.
03:11That's true.
03:12Hell, yeah.
03:12I wear a Kent State hat every day now and never even thought about it before.
03:16I guess if my kid went to Michigan, now here's the difference.
03:21If he were on a team, I guess I could do it.
03:25I couldn't do it if he just went there to go to their business school.
03:28I could.
03:28I'm not wearing Michigan.
03:29Why would I wear Michigan stuff?
03:32I don't know that I would ever wear Texas Longhorn stuff.
03:35But if he was the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorn, I guess I'd do it.
03:39I've known community leaders that went to Michigan because of their great academic institution
03:44but had been Ohio State fans.
03:46And they did not change.
03:48If they grew up Ohio State fans, they didn't just change because they got into their business school.
03:52We've got to back this up a little bit.
03:53But if Mason or Izzy got into the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, which is a hard-ass school
04:02to get into.
04:03I have friends who made it, and I had friends who didn't, and it was awkward.
04:07You wouldn't wear Michigan stuff if he made it into the Stephen M. Ross School of Business?
04:11Okay, maybe on the day we move them in, and then that's it.
04:15I'm not wearing them.
04:16I'm not celebrating their—because that's athletics.
04:19That's what it's associated with.
04:20You love the heat.
04:21You love the heat.
04:22You would absolutely wear it.
04:24You don't care.
04:25You love the heat.
04:26But I'm also not one of those who'd be like, you could never go to Michigan.
04:29I mean, that's dumb.
04:30That, to me, is—that is a—that's a personal issue.
04:37That's like a mental issue that you would have to not let your kids go to a school that they
04:41could get into.
04:43You know, Duke.
04:43That's something.
04:44I hate Duke.
04:45If you got into Duke Law School, okay.
04:48Guess you have to go.
04:49Yeah, it's a pretty good school.
04:51So the Cleveland Browns have an interesting social media post.
04:54Yesterday it came out that they are—it's like right as the show ended.
04:58It's like they waited so we couldn't talk about it.
05:00It was at 10 a.m. exactly.
05:03One month until we're on the clock.
05:05And it shows four photos.
05:06One is Miles Garrett holding up the number one jersey.
05:09He was the number one overall pick.
05:10The other one is Joe Thomas, a much larger, much younger Joe Thomas, after he was the number three overall
05:18pick.
05:18There was Denzel Ward.
05:19Third, he's holding up his jersey with Roger Goodell.
05:23Obviously, he was a number four overall pick, if I'm not mistaken.
05:26And then there is the banner of Shador Sanders, who was the fifth-round pick.
05:32And immediately the internet picked up on it for two different reasons.
05:34One, there were the anti-Shadorians that couldn't believe that you put a fifth-round pick up there.
05:40Then there were the Shador fans.
05:42And then there was just everybody else who go, well, they're trying to tell you who's going to win this
05:46quarterback competition.
05:47And I would love to say that social media doesn't matter.
05:51But as of right now, who's the leader in the clubhouse to win the job?
05:54You might as well post the starting quarterback up there.
05:57And I think that if it's going to stay the way this is, I think that's the way the fans
06:00would want it.
06:01Would they not?
06:02Unless they really like Deshaun Watson to make a comeback.
06:05Go right on ahead and do it.
06:07I have heard more people open to Deshaun Watson than in a while lately.
06:12And those weren't even, like, haters of Shador.
06:14They're just like, well, if Watson actually did heal up after the surgeries, he's got more God-given natural talent
06:20than Shador.
06:21So, fine, if you're just looking to win more games or whatever, have a better chance.
06:25But then I remind them, hey, you realize if he has a good year, they're going to – he might
06:29run the risk of extending him.
06:31They might.
06:31They're like, well, if he's good, you won't care about extending him.
06:34Yeah, if he's good, you wouldn't mind.
06:35But he's got to be good.
06:36He has to be really good.
06:37He's got to be really good.
06:37He can't just be okay and carried by the defense like Shador was at the end of the year.
06:42I agree with that.
06:42There was also people texting me because I kind of threw it around because I'm like, hey, they're trying to
06:46– guys, you guys yell at me.
06:48It's right there.
06:49I mean, he's their QB1 right now.
06:51He would be the leader in the clubhouse going into a quote-unquote quarterback competition, which now I'm throwing up
06:56the quotes around because I'm like, I don't know how open it is.
06:59I think the fans don't want to see Deshaun Watson.
07:01I don't think they want to play Deshaun Watson.
07:02Now, if he ends up being better in OTAs, maybe Todd Munkin's got to make a really tough decision on
07:06behalf of his football team.
07:07But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
07:09Would you take any umbrage if you were – I have to ask because I had a couple of people
07:13bring it up.
07:15I didn't take umbrage with it.
07:16I didn't think this way.
07:17So don't even start, Joey, your videos and whatnot.
07:23Do you think like a Carson Swessinger would take umbrage with that?
07:27Carson was their second-round pick.
07:30Carson ended up being the defensive rookie of the year.
07:35Would you take umbrage with it if you were not included on this social media post?
07:40Man, I would hope not.
07:41First of all, I don't think this type of social media is even on a lot of people's radar.
07:46No, it certainly caught the internet's attention.
07:48They are all over the place.
07:50I'm a Browns fan.
07:51I don't even follow the accounts just because just kind of – I get what they're doing.
07:55They're just trying to promote the Browns and put everything in a positive light.
08:00That's what they're supposed to do.
08:01I don't blame the people.
08:03I used to make fun of the people that worked in those situations.
08:05And I've gotten to know them.
08:06And I'm like, all right, well, they're just – they're earning a living.
08:08I don't treat any of the stuff that comes out of there as gospel.
08:11Or I don't think it has a great deal of credibility.
08:15Like, because they're talking about during an 0-16 season, they got to put something out, right?
08:20During a last year, a five-win season, they got to put some good things out.
08:24It's not all bad.
08:25But I don't conflate that with that it means anything.
08:28And if I'm Carson Swessinger, I imagine he has a security about himself where he is not going to let
08:36social media posts impact his psychological state.
08:42I would certainly agree.
08:43Just the people who were doing it were saying that they would be bothered.
08:46My answer to it was I don't think Carson Swessinger is bothered by it.
08:49And the other thought of it is it's not the only social media post that they're going to make before
08:53the draft.
08:54So, I'm sure that Carson Swessinger is going to be included in some social media post before the draft.
08:58Am I right?
08:59I think I'm right about that.
09:01Did you find it at all funny, though, that Trador Sanders was included in the same social media message as
09:07Miles Garrett, Joe Thomas, and Denzel Ward?
09:09The guy's holding up the number one jersey.
09:11You got two Hall of Famers, right?
09:13And Denzel is one of the best to do it in a Browns uniform.
09:17He's the best since 99.
09:19Yeah.
09:19Definitely.
09:19Put it this way.
09:20I mean...
09:21Why wasn't Mason Graham holding up his number one jersey up there?
09:252-1-6-4-7-4-2-0-9-2.
09:28Yeah, I mean, those...
09:28But one's a linebacker.
09:29One is a defensive tackle.
09:32Like, Shador's a quarterback.
09:33Yeah.
09:34I think the Browns are telling you.
09:35You're always going to promote...
09:36You're always going to promote your quarterbacks in some way, and they can't...
09:40One's a left tackle that's not on the team.
09:41They can't promote, obviously, Deshaun Watson.
09:44They've done everything they can to scrub the Deshaun Watson experience.
09:47They can't really promote Dylan Gabriel because I think he could be getting traded at any moment.
09:54I mean, he's not a part of their future.
09:56I think he played so poorly, and then the concussion was ill-timed, and, you know, he didn't have a
10:02chance to even...
10:03I think if Dylan Gabriel found himself on a social media post, I think he'd be the most shocked out
10:06of all of us.
10:07Yeah.
10:08So, I mean, yeah, why not?
10:10I don't think this means he's...
10:11Other than one of the thank yous that they send.
10:13I don't think this means he's your QB1 guaranteed start of the season.
10:18I think he has every opportunity to win that job in a competition, but I don't think this means...
10:24Hey, some 25-year-old wrote a social media post about Shador Sanders because he knew he'd get more clicks,
10:31and that's what they want.
10:32They want more impressions.
10:33That's what teams are looking for.
10:35But if they didn't want you to get their hopes up, they probably would have left them out.
10:38I just think...
10:39Listen to the coach.
10:40When the coach says it, I'll believe it.
10:42The coach hasn't said anything like that.
10:43Now, obviously, had it just been Carson Swessinger or Mason Graham, we would not have even talked about it this
10:49morning.
10:50No.
10:50And yet, here we are.
10:51Of course.
10:52Well, they know what gets people talking.
10:55Obviously, Ken.
10:55They know how to get attention.
10:56You're right about that.
10:57But again, if they didn't want to get anybody's hopes up, would they just put somebody else?
11:02Maybe they would have put Joe Hayden on there.
11:03They should have just put the porcelain horse on there.
11:09Is the porcelain horse in the building, or is it at his house?
11:11Oh, it's in his office.
11:12That's right.
11:12It's in his office, the porcelain horse?
11:14Yeah, that's where they took their picture at.
11:16You think Shador went to his house?
11:19That would be major butter and up effort there.
11:22We need to know about that.
11:23That one's...
11:23I'd give him credit.
11:24If he were going that far to try to win a competition, that he's doing sleepovers or...
11:29You know what it costs to deliver a porcelain horse these days?
11:32Ain't cheap.
11:33The price of energy as it is, my goodness gracious.
11:35Like, Deshaun Watson can't do that if he's just living in Italy or in Miami all off-season.
11:41He can't be dining with the head coach, trying to curry favor.
11:45Delivering porcelain animals.
11:47What other things?
11:48Well, he only raises horses.
11:49I don't know if he has any chickens or anything.
11:51Can you have like a golden rooster or something like that, like they have outside the Canfield Fair?
11:54Deshaun has the money to give a more substantial gift.
11:58He could buy the actual rooster outside the Canfield Fair.
12:01Think about that.
12:03I mean, if you guys want to give in a gift-giving competition to find out who the quarterback of
12:07the 2026 Cleveland Browns are,
12:10I'm open for it all, baby.
12:11So I want to get through these calls here in a second about the social media for the Browns.
12:15However, and them putting up Chador Sanders with Joe Thomas, Miles Garrett, Denzel Ward,
12:23and a lot of fans were like, one of these things aren't like the other.
12:25And I said, well, because they're telling you who's going to be the starting quarterback,
12:27at least how they feel they want it to turn out for their season.
12:31However, Lima hasn't.
12:33Oh, so you think it's a done deal based on the social media posts?
12:36No, not a done deal.
12:36But they're telling you who they really, really, really want to start for their football team.
12:41And I think the organization as a whole is telling you who they really, really, really want to start.
12:45I don't think that they're – I think they're going to stay away from quarterbacks.
12:48And I think that – I know Ty Simpson's an interesting conversation,
12:52and we'll have Kalen DeBoer on tomorrow, head coach Alabama, to talk more about him.
12:57But I think that they're going to stick with their room,
12:59and they're going to see where it shakes out for 2026 and move on to 2027.
13:02I think, of course, of course, the easiest plan of attack and for the perfect scenario would be,
13:10yeah, Shador would be amazing.
13:12Every team is hoping they've got a quarterback that's amazing on their roster.
13:16I just don't think the social media posts has anything to do with it.
13:20Because then it would solve all their issues.
13:21Yeah, that would be great.
13:23You don't –
13:24But every year the Browns –
13:26No, I don't think they're telling you that he's going to be the next big thing.
13:28They know he's a popular guy, and I think he's going to start the season week one,
13:32and I think that they have every intention to start in week one.
13:34I'm sure the Browns over the years, when they drafted Brandon Whedon,
13:39I'm sure there were positive social media posts about it.
13:43I'm sure when Jameis Winston – we did.
13:44Jameis Winston was here.
13:45It was every day at Jameis Winston post.
13:47You would have thought he was a Hall of Famer here.
13:48That was his quotes.
13:49Yeah.
13:49You would have thought he was a Hall of Famer by their social media posts.
13:52That's what every team wants that to be the case.
13:54But I don't draw a direct line like –
13:58Like I said, I'll listen to the coach when the coach says it.
14:01Right now the coach has kept it very up in the air on who the starting quarterback is going to
14:05be.
14:05Well, he's been very complimentary to Shudor Sanders.
14:07He's been complimentary to Sean Watson.
14:09Yeah.
14:10Hasn't been very complimentary to Dylan Gabriel.
14:11Very little.
14:12There's been a couple nice things.
14:14He says he's a nice guy.
14:14That's where it's at.
14:16Listen, social media – you're going to turn this.
14:18I know what you're going to do this.
14:20The social media post is not the end-all, be-all,
14:24why Shudor Sanders is going to be week one.
14:26But I think it's just a little bit more evidence that they really want him to start the season.
14:33What Zach said was right, Zach Jackson.
14:36They really don't want to have to play Deshaun Watson.
14:39Yeah.
14:39Of course.
14:39They really want Shudor Sanders to take the handle on this thing.
14:43And I think it's the right call.
14:44Yeah.
14:45When they were taking the Watson signage off the – outside of the stadium,
14:48yeah, I'd say they were moving on from him.
14:51Now, it's pretty crazy.
14:52We're still here even talking about him competing for the starting job.
14:55I thought he'd be long gone by now.
14:56When you sign guys to unmovable contracts, this is what you get.
14:59And here we are.
15:00So that's the only way we will change the stimmt.
15:00There it is.
15:00Where we get tule.
15:00Where can we keep it?
15:00Where do you prove it?
