00:30A quest by themselves will be nothing unless part of a larger gameplay strategy, the ambition of your kingdom.
00:39Your kingdom ambition is a long-term object, a little like an electron manifesto which must be chosen before beginning
00:45the game.
00:46According to which ambition you choose to endeavor to bring wealth, well-being, knowledge and other such things to your
00:51kingdom.
00:52How to accomplish this? Easy, by raising the competence level of your symbols.
00:56For example, a doctor of a higher level will be capable of healing more sick people and completing more quests,
01:01or which will win you health points for your kingdom.
01:05My name is Dave Motke, I'm an assistant producer for The Sims Medieval.
01:09We have a lot of strategy simulation fans on our team, and we want to kind of incorporate some of
01:15those elements into this game.
01:17Those feelings of really grand, epic decision-making, we wanted to do that.
01:21So we put in a lot of city building features, and the decisions that you're making with those sims is
01:28going to affect your kingdom,
01:30whether that's increasing the health or the knowledge or the well-being of your society.
01:34So the decisions that you're making with your sims is really what's driving the kingdom growth.
01:39I'm Aaron Cohen, Senior Marketing Director for The Sims Medieval.
01:42We created Kingdom Ambition, wanting to give them lots of different paths to go down.
01:46Many ambition possibilities await you in the game, but they won't all be available immediately.
01:51To unlock new kingdom ambitions, you need to complete the very first kingdom ambition, which is to build the kingdom
01:56you will ruin.
01:57How? By completing the quests necessary for success.
02:00At the end of every game, new ambitions will reveal themselves.
02:08The construction of your town is also up to you.
02:11That's right, the direction of every building in your kingdom is in your hands.
02:14Naturally, each particular building has its own influence on the course of events.
02:18Okay, it goes like this. First you need to choose to complete a quest.
02:22Successful completion earns you kingdom pots, which allow you to unlock new buildings for your town,
02:26and hence new sims to live in those buildings.
02:29The profession and activities of each addition is similar to the course of things for your citizens.
02:34So you see why you have to be careful about the decisions you make?
02:37If you value your reputation, it is.
02:39The quests that you take and the rewards that you receive from those quests
02:42directly influence how the people in your town are acting and viewing you.
02:46When the king is popular and the kingdom is doing well and the citizens are happy, they act happy.
02:50They party more, they smile more, they just look happy.
02:53When they are unhappy, when the kingdom is at war, when the kingdom is poor,
02:58there is a disease going around, the citizens will jeer the king.
03:01They might throw fruit at him, they might have him assassinated.
03:04They will see more fights among the sims.
03:06You will see more arguments.
03:08You will see them actually not working.
03:10You will see them lying on the ground because they are sick.
03:12So you are going to see very clear evidence of your sims' happiness or unhappiness,
03:18depending on how your kingdom is doing.
03:19So managing your kingdom well is very important.
03:21But don't worry, if these responsibilities prove to be too heavy, take some time out to play how you like.
03:27Can you give your castle a makeover? Go ahead.
03:29Why not treat yourself to a bubble bath before making dinner?
03:32Why not start a family?
03:34You can really do anything you like in fact.
03:39And thus we arrive sadly near the conclusion of our adventure.
03:42And as these ancient pages close, you can be safe in the knowledge that you know almost everything you need
03:46to begin life in the world of the sims' medieval.
03:49But come with us one last time, for in the next episode where we'll see the first reactions of the
03:53fans.
03:54We've exclusively played the game on your behalf, as well as more bonus footage of the sims' studio in San
03:59Francisco.
03:59Miss not then, dear friend, the final episode of Once Upon a Time in the Sims Medieval!
04:05We'll be right back.
04:13We'll be right back.
04:16We'll be right back.
04:18Grazie a tutti.
