00:49Now let's talk about the most fundamental element of all in your game, your hero.
00:54Use your own very creative workshop and make your hero as gorgeous and as unique as you like.
01:01In a couple of mouse clicks, it's possible to entirely transform your character's appearance, hairstyle, facial features, body shape, and,
01:08of course, outfit.
01:11But the most important decision is how to choose two defining personality traits out of the many available.
01:17You might choose to make your hero brave and alluring, but nothing to stop you from making him or her
01:22equitistica and Machiavellian instead.

01:29The traits themselves range from the obvious traits, such as the chivalrous, adventurous, and scholarly traits, to the not-so
01:34-obvious traits, like the whale-like-my-parents traits.
01:37These traits come with unique actions, wants, and needs that will really make The Sims come to life and have
01:42distinct and unique personalities.
01:44But every hero has a fatal flaw in The Sims Medieval, and yours is no exception.
01:49Choose wisely, because it will influence the whole game.
01:51Hi, my name is Rachel Bernstein. I'm the Senior Producer for The Sims Medieval.
01:55The fatal flaw is actually something that can make it harder for your Sim to be successful in the world.
01:59So, for example, your Sim might be a drunkard.
02:01A drunkard might not get any work done and be in constant search for alcohol,
02:05whereas a workaholic might get all of his work done but be in constant poor health due to lack of
02:10sleep.
02:10Each trait and flaw will need to be dealt with differently, and you'll see very different results depending on which
02:15ones you've chosen.
02:16If your hero proves his or her bravery and courage throughout the epic quests, this fatal flaw could become a
02:22legendary trait.
02:23The life of your character can change just like that.
02:25A scared cat can become an audacious adventurer, a recluse, a charismatic leader, but it won't reveal too many possibilities.
02:32It's up to you to discover exactly what kind of legend your medieval Sim will become.

02:39You'll discover some features that feel like RPG features, and those features are things like quests, combat, crafting.
02:47Those features really serve as a backdrop to tell stories.
02:50The Sims Medieval is still very much a game about telling stories.
02:54It's probably that you will find yourself face-to-face with the odd sword fight during the course of your
02:58adventures.
02:59Seize the moment to discover a completely new side to The Sims.
03:06At the same time you're questing, you're worrying about your Sims' day-to-day lives, what their responsibilities are, what
03:12their jobs are, who they have relationships with.
03:14So you're constantly managing their day-to-day functions.
03:17Your Sim might become the biggest legend in the land, but he better not forget his jobs.
03:22It's up to you to choose to do them or not, but better be prepared to suffer the consequences if
03:27you don't.
03:28The inhabitants of The Sims Medieval don't like people who don't do their jobs.
03:31If the physician isn't handing out enough potions to the sick, or the blacksmith not forging armor fast enough,
03:38then one of the characters might well find himself in the stocks in the village square, undefined from rotten tomatoes.
03:44And then, even more severe, they can be pushed into the pit of judgment, where a monster awaits.
03:48And if the Sim is quite strong in combat, the Sim might be able to crawl his way out of
03:52that hole.
03:53However, most Sims will not. Most Sims who enter the pit of judgment will never return.
03:58That's a big risk to run if your Sim misses out on his daily chores.
04:02Or perhaps you've deliberately sent your hero to the pit of judgment to test his bravery.
04:07Remember, in The Sims Medieval it's up to you to write your own history.
