00:00All right, thank you very much for that introduction, Thomek.
00:03For those of you who may not be familiar with GOG, I thought I'd briefly tell you what it is
00:10that we are.
00:10We're a digital distribution platform.
00:12We sell classic games ranging from the early 80s all the way up to the 2000s.
00:18We bundle tons of free extra goodies in with our games to make every digital version of our games a
00:25virtual collector's edition.
00:26And we've been around since September 2008, so I thought I'd briefly give you an overview of how things have
00:36been going for GOG
00:37and talk a little bit about what we've been up to.
00:39We have over 300 DRM-free classics.
00:43Here are just a few examples of some of the great titles we've got.
00:47We've been adding to them from a number of partners.
00:50We have over 40 partners on board, ranging from really big publishers who have upwards of 30 games
00:58to smaller publishers with just a few, but they're all great classics and we're thrilled to have every single one
01:04of them on board.
01:05If you take a look at our sales by month, you're going to see that we have definitely been growing
01:11pretty well here at GOG.
01:13You see a crazy spike on our last Christmas sale.
01:15Obviously, we've seen a big growth in our sales numbers, and that's due not just because we've added great partners
01:22to our catalog,
01:23but also because we have a very active community.
01:26They do a great job of preaching the GOG gospel and getting the word out about classic gaming to communities,
01:32blogs,
01:33and other websites out there on the net.
01:35We have seen, from 2009 to 2010, this is our last complete year we can compare things to,
01:42a 163% increase in sales, and that is, like I said, not just due to the fact that we
01:48have great partners,
01:49but also because our community is really awesome as well.
01:51We want to take a moment to thank them for helping grow GOG.
01:55Now, obviously, if you know what GOG is, and you're maybe watching on the internet,
01:59or you're here in the press in the audience, hearing about how great things have been going for GOG is
02:04great,
02:05but what you really want to know is what's coming to GOG.com.
02:10Well, we've been teasing it on the website, and we've had a couple of places where we were talking about
02:14what was,
02:15whoa, that's a little weird.
02:17No, that's okay, though.
02:18You know, Boy Scout motto, always be prepared.
02:21So I, you hear something?
02:25That's, that's actually a little bit spooky.
02:28Uh, yeah, being up here on the stage by myself in the dark is a little, a little scary.
02:33I, do you hear something that sounds, that's seriously, they sound like zombies.
02:39Do you, having an invasion of zombies, coming closer?
02:44Oh, no.
02:48It's still?
02:52Oh.
02:53Oh.
02:53Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, okay.
02:56Whoa.
02:59That was a little bit scary there.
03:00Uh, we don't have an invasion of zombies,
03:02we have an invasion of classic survival horror games coming to GOG.
03:06The Alone in the Dark trilogy, one, two, and three.
03:10If you purchase the first one, you'll get the second and third one for free.
03:14You get all three of them on GOG for $5.99,
03:19and the complete soundtrack as well.
03:21That price is so low, it's scary.
03:23See, I made a, that was a terrible joke, I'm sorry.
03:26That's available today, right now on GOG.
03:29Uh, in addition to Alone in the Dark, we've been talking about the games coming up on GOG
03:34in the near future, and we've been asking our users some questions about the games that
03:41will be coming here soon.
03:41and asking them, what game made you dream of the stars?
03:44What game made you ride with the outlaws?
03:47What game made you fear your past?
03:49What game made you go to the underworld?
03:51What game made you feel like a hero?
03:52And finally, what game made the monsters fear you?
03:55Now, we have a whole slew of Atari classics coming shortly.
04:00Here are the dates our games are coming out.
04:02We have new releases coming every week on GOG.
04:06And while I'm not going to tell you what every single one of these games is,
04:09I would like to tell you on the 10th of May, the very last title there,
04:13what game made the monsters fear you?
04:14This is huge news for GOG, and we're very happy to be able to say,
04:19The Witcher 1 is coming to GOG on the 10th of May.
04:23Let me talk a bit about the offer we've got for you.
04:26We have, when you purchase The Witcher on GOG.com,
04:30you're getting the Enhanced Director's Cut Edition.
04:32It is, of course, 100% DRM free.
04:35When you get the Enhanced Director's Cut Edition from anywhere,
04:38it comes with the game, obviously,
04:41the soundtrack, songs inspired by the game,
04:44a map, a short story by Andrzej Sapovsky,
04:48game guide, game manual, extra video, extra content,
04:51a really great package.
04:53But at GOG.com, we like to do something a little more
04:56than just what everybody else has.
04:58So we're going to be offering you, in addition to all of that,
05:01some other great content.
05:02Now, if you lived in Poland when the Director's Cut Edition came out,
05:06you could have gotten with your game a calendar
05:09with some of the beautiful ladies from the game
05:13displayed in the calendar.
05:14It was kind of a cool giveaway that was only in Poland.
05:16Well, at GOG, we are now giving you that calendar
05:20as a downloadable version on GOG.
05:23You may have noticed I covered up the naughty bits.
05:25Sorry, this is a rated E for everyone show.
05:27I'd hate to be having anyone at home horrified by what we're showing.
05:30I'm going to go through briefly here
05:31and demonstrate some of the lovely women we have here in the picture.
05:36You can see what sort of calendar we've got.
05:37We've updated the calendar for the year coming out from GOG's release of The Witcher 1.
05:42So starting in this month and going until the end of the middle of 2012.
05:47Here's just a couple examples.
05:49That's not the only exclusive you're going to be getting with us.
05:52We also have a number of high-quality wallpapers that you'll be able to download.
05:58They are put together by a very talented design team
06:01and another fairly common giveaway we give you for free at GOG.
06:06Also, a series of avatars suitable for use anywhere on the Internet
06:09or, you know, you can print them out and stick them to your fridge at home.
06:12Whatever makes you happy.
06:13I'm going to briefly go over the numbers here
06:15to give you some precise stats on what you're getting.
06:18There are 30 wallpapers available.
06:21You have the original soundtrack is included.
06:24You will have, oddly enough, 12 months in the calendar we are giving you.
06:29There will be the exclusive art book.
06:31We're giving you the collector's edition art book
06:33available as a downloadable copy.
06:36It's a PDF version, really great art book.
06:38Anybody who's got the collector's edition can attest to the quality of this.
06:42If you look now, I've filled up this entire huge screen
06:45with all of the stuff that you are getting
06:47with your GOG.com edition of The Witcher.
06:51That all adds up to one incredible deal.
06:55Now, on GOG, we have two price points we charge for our games
06:58that are classics, and they are the same price point anywhere in the world,
07:01either $5.99 or $9.99.
07:04And The Witcher's ordinary price will be $9.99,
07:08but we're offering you guys an incredible bargain
07:10to commemorate the launching of The Witcher 2 on GOG.
07:14when you purchase The Witcher at the 10th of May.
07:17You will be able to get it for $4.99.
07:22There we go.
07:23For $4.99 as an intro price.
07:25That's 50% off the normal full price.
07:28And that will run from the 10th of May to the 24th of May.
07:32This way, we're giving it to you a little bit
07:34before The Witcher 2 comes out.
07:35That's the 17th.
07:36So if you don't know The Witcher franchise,
07:38you aren't completely sure,
07:40hey, do I really want to spend the money for a new game?
07:42Do I want to get with these Polish game developers?
07:45I don't know.
07:47Well, for $4.99 you can try out The Witcher 1.
07:49That's really an incredibly low price.
07:51Get all those extra free goodies.
07:53And then by the 17th of May,
07:55hopefully you'll know whether or not
07:56you want to get The Witcher 2 as well.
07:57It's also running a bit beyond that
07:59just in case you buy The Witcher 2
08:01and decide, hey, maybe I should go back and get the older game.
08:04Really incredible deal for The Witcher 1.
08:06Now, in addition to The Witcher 1,
08:08as you heard me mention,
08:09The Witcher 2 will be available on GOG.
08:12We're going to make a...
08:14We've got the Digital Premium Edition,
08:17which has on any version of the game you buy,
08:19the game, obviously,
08:21the soundtrack,
08:22the game guide,
08:24a manual,
08:25some downloadable versions of included parchments,
08:28also a downloadable map,
08:29and various other content like papercraft and making of videos.
08:33A really impressive collection
08:35for what is the basic edition of The Witcher 2.
08:38But as I just said,
08:39GOG likes to go a little bit further than the average bear.
08:42So when you get The Witcher 2 on GOG,
08:46you will also get the collector's edition art book for The Witcher 2
08:49as a downloadable PDF.
08:50That's a couple hundred pages of great content,
08:53concept art,
08:54environmental art,
08:55shows you how the game went from early production
08:57all the way to the finish.
08:58Really top-notch product.
09:00When you get The Witcher 2 on GOG,
09:03it is completely DRM-free.
09:05As Tomek mentioned,
09:07there is a serial code
09:09required for activating the game.
09:11That is true for every version of the game but GOGs.
09:14When you purchase the game from GOG,
09:17it will come entirely operational.
09:18But we do give you the serial code
09:21because if you want to download some of the future DLCs later on,
09:26you obviously need that to be able to get access to them for free.
09:28We offer a fair price package
09:31so anybody in Europe,
09:33you may be paying a little more for the game
09:34because you're paying the same number of Euros
09:36that people are paying in dollars.
09:38GOG charges a fair price for everyone
09:40so we're offering you $15 in credit back
09:44to make up for the difference in the price in Euros
09:46and the price in dollars.
09:48Exclusive content,
09:49such as the art book or something else
09:51I'm going to talk about here in just a moment.
09:52And this goes on sale on GOG.
09:55You've been able to pre-order it
09:56but now you're actually able to purchase it on the 10th of May.
09:58Why?
09:59Well, as you can see the last line there,
10:01you can pre-download the game.
10:03We'll give you 90% of the game available for pre-download.
10:07That way, when you're ready to start playing on the 17th of May,
10:10you'll have 100 megabytes or so worth of content to download
10:13so you can really get started playing the game very quickly.
10:16We are the only digital distributor
10:18who's offering the pre-download of the game.
10:20so if you're really going to be jonesing for that hit of The Witcher
10:23come the 17th of May,
10:24make sure you pre-order it on GOG.
10:28We are offering on the 10th of May,
10:30once you pre-purchase the game,
10:33the free classic RPG that comes with it
10:35will be available instantly,
10:37so you can start playing right then.
10:39The games you'll be able to choose from
10:40are Realms of Arcania 1 and 2,
10:42which counts as one game
10:43despite the fact that it is two games,
10:46Realms of Arcania 3,
10:47Gothic 2 Gold Edition,
10:49Divine Divinity,
10:50Beyond Divinity.
10:51Choose from any of these five classic RPGs.
10:54They're all really great games,
10:55and even though it's not like you're playing The Witcher 2 right away,
10:58you will get some very good RPG action going on there.
11:02The pre-order offer ends the 16th of May.
11:05That means if you want to take advantage of all the free goodies,
11:08get your free classic RPG,
11:10be able to pre-download 90% of the game,
11:13and get all the goodies we're offering you,
11:15you need to make sure to go to www.gog.com forward slash TW2
11:21and click the pre-order button before the end of the 16th.
11:24Otherwise you're going to miss out,
11:25and you wouldn't want to do that.
11:26This is the best offer anywhere for The Witcher 2.
11:30So seriously guys,
11:31if you are all interested in the franchise,
11:33make sure you stop by our site and pre-order the game.
11:36Now as much as we have been talking about The Witcher and The Witcher 2,
11:39GOG is about more than just CD Projekt Games.
11:42We are also a distribution website.
11:45We have millions of visitors come to our site every month,
11:48and we are always trying to improve the site
11:50to make it better for our users.
11:52As such, twice a year,
11:54once in the spring and once in the fall,
11:56we introduce a site update to improve things.
11:58I'm going to tell you briefly what we've improved on GOG for spring,
12:02our spring update.
12:03There have been some features our users regularly request from us
12:07to improve on GOG.
12:09One of the number one most requested features is a new downloader.
12:13We have had a downloader that's been the same downloader
12:16since we launched in September 2008,
12:18and while it certainly functions,
12:20it's not the best downloader out there.
12:21It's not going to win any prizes.
12:23The new downloader that we've rewritten from scratch
12:25may well win some prizes.
12:27It's really awesome.
12:28It uses multi-threaded downloads for performance.
12:31Now, on many of the classic games on GOG,
12:33if you're downloading Zork,
12:34you don't really care if it's multi-threaded.
12:36The game is a half a megabyte.
12:38But when you're downloading The Witcher 2,
12:40it's tens of gigabytes.
12:42You want to make sure to maximize the performance
12:44of your download capabilities.
12:46This new downloader will help you get the game
12:48as fast as your connection will let you.
12:50We've also got a really cool new feature,
12:53automatic error checking.
12:54Every 10 megabytes you download,
12:56the downloader is going to look and see,
12:58was there any corruption in this part of the download?
13:01If so, it'll re-download that chunk.
13:03That way, if you downloaded 90% of a game,
13:06and you had your roommate use the microwave
13:08and ruined your wireless signal,
13:10you won't have to re-download the whole game
13:11from scratch again.
13:12This saves you time,
13:14and depending on the country you're in,
13:15this may even save you money on your bandwidth bills.
13:18Now, finally, it's important to note
13:20that although this new downloader
13:21has tons of great features,
13:23it's not a client.
13:25We're not Steam.
13:25We're not Impulse.
13:26This is Resource Lite,
13:28and it only activates
13:29when you click specific download links
13:31on GOG.com.
13:32Now, that was one of the most requested features
13:35from our users.
13:36The other one people have been asking about for forever
13:38is the ability to have private messaging on GOG,
13:42and I'm glad to say we're also adding that
13:44in our spring update.
13:45This is going to be a combination
13:47of both personal messaging
13:49and instant messaging.
13:50It will have a pop-up in the upper right corner
13:53of the screen when someone sent you a PM,
13:55but there's no big pop-up in the middle of the screen,
13:58so if you're checking out,
13:59you won't have your user experience disrupted.
14:01It's got fully configurable privacy settings.
14:04That way, if there's some user on GOG
14:06who you really can't get along with,
14:09you can set yourself to ignore him
14:10and not have to worry about it.
14:12And finally, GOG is all about freedom of choice,
14:14whether it's freedom to install your game
14:16in seven different places
14:17or whether it's freedom to use the website
14:19how you'd like.
14:20So this is entirely optional.
14:22You can remove this whole private messaging system
14:25with the check of a single box
14:26if that's not your style.
14:28Last but not least,
14:30we've also brought in a number of,
14:32call them various site improvements.
14:34We are always looking to make the experience better
14:37for our users,
14:38and we started by improving the checkout system.
14:40Now when you reach the checkout area,
14:42you will see a series of recommended games
14:45that other people have bought
14:46when they bought your game,
14:47kind of like you see on various other e-commerce sites.
14:50That way, if you don't know
14:51the full 300 game catalog on GOG,
14:55you can see what other people have purchased,
14:57and there might be a similar game
14:58and one you'd like.
14:59We have also updated the forums and the website
15:03to work in the newest browser,
15:04so if you're using Firefox 4
15:06or Chromium for the Mac
15:07or any really cutting-edge browsers,
15:09you should be having no problems
15:10with the site once we get our new update in.
15:13And finally, we've made the coupon system easier to use.
15:15Now when you get a game code
15:16or you get a coupon from us in your email
15:19or someone gifts you a game,
15:20you don't have to type the code in by hand,
15:22but rather automatically when you click the link,
15:25it takes you to a special site updates automatically
15:28to let you know that your coupon's being applied.
15:30You don't have to type it in yourself.
15:31So that's the various site improvements
15:34and updates we've got.
15:35And I really, I think we're running,
15:37I know I had indicated to our users
15:40we might be covering
15:42what the upcoming publishers are for GOG,
15:44but we're kind of running out of time.
15:45So I think if it's okay with you guys,
15:47I'm just going to call it good here,
15:49and that's really all we're going to talk about.
15:50I think that's cool with you guys, yeah?
15:52Okay, all right.
15:53We have, this is going to be coming up on the late April,
15:58and that's going to be,
15:59that's it I've got to cover, yeah?
16:01Okay, we good?
16:02Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
16:03Oh, what?
16:04Hold on, hold on.
16:05That sounds like, oh, my word.
16:08That's Guillaume Ramborg, Managing Director of GOG.
16:10What are you doing here?
16:11So thanks, Trevor,
16:14for sharing some great news for the weeks to come.
16:16I mean, that's great.
16:18However, I would like to push the visibility a bit further
16:20and give some news about the future of GOG,
16:23because you brought some great news for the two months to come, right?
16:27But we have more plans in mind for the next quarters, basically.
16:31So if you don't mind,
16:32I would like to give some news to the users
16:34about the publishers and the games
16:36we would love to sign on GOG in the coming month.
16:39All right, thank you very much.
16:40You're welcome.
16:42All right, so these are the 10 biggest publishers
16:45that our users are requesting on GOG.
16:50Hopefully, some of them are already on the website.
16:53I'm thinking of Interplay, for example,
16:56or Codemasters, Ubisoft, Activision, or Atari.
17:02Those top five publishers are already with us,
17:04which is a big achievement for GOG.
17:06We are really satisfied to have their games.
17:10However, as you can see,
17:12we have five other games remaining.
17:13I mean, sorry, five other publishers remaining,
17:16which are extremely requested by the users.
17:18Let's go a bit more into details
17:20and see what kind of games we could get from them.
17:24For example, I'm thinking of LucasArts.
17:27So LucasArts, everybody has some big games in mind,
17:30like The Secret of Monkey Island,
17:31or DreamFantago or many classics,
17:35Sam & Max and many, many others.
17:39Microsoft, the first game that comes to your mind,
17:41I guess, is the Edge of Empire series,
17:43which is, again, extremely requested by the users.
17:48Electronic Arts, a lot of games, right?
17:51So from the Wing Commander series
17:52to Dungeon Keeper,
17:56many, many others.
17:57Anything else?
17:59Wing Commander.
17:59Wing Commander.
18:00No, we said this one, yeah?
18:02Ultima series, right?
18:03The Ultima series, which is very, very famous.
18:06Square Enix, Tomb Raider, Hitman,
18:09Legacy of Kain, many others.
18:13Take-Two slash Rockstar.
18:14I mean, GTA, anyone?
18:16I believe everybody knows this game.
18:19The great piece of news I have for today
18:21is that lately I had a lot of papers on my desk
18:24I had to sign, pages and pages and pages.
18:27The good piece of news is that
18:29one of them has been signed.
18:31We are currently working very hard on over 25 games,
18:36remastering the games, testing the games,
18:39making them compatible for Windows XP, Vista 7,
18:42preparing, as usual, the greatest possible goodies
18:45for free for the users.
18:48Our targets, I mean, we are working, working very hard.
