00:01Paul, 1-1 draw against Basingstoke after a very dominant second half and an onslaught at the end,
00:06knowing Dean nearly got a late winner, but thoughts on it?
00:09Yeah, I thought we were lucky to come away at the point. First time in maybe three years that
00:16we got torn apart in the first half. We were miles off it. We done almost well to get in
00:22at 0-0.
00:23It could have been 4-5 come half time. But yeah, miles away from where we should be.
00:29Yeah, obviously it was much improved in the second half. That first half, I mean,
00:33obviously they say very rare, very unlike you. You don't really obviously see it coming. It can
00:37happen sometimes, but obviously you would have had to address it and let them know. Obviously
00:41they would have known they were well below the usual standards. Yeah, I'd say there was a few words
00:46chosen in there, strong ones, and it's fully justified. I mean, they turned up, nice day,
00:53great crowd in full voice, early doors, and they thought they could come out and stroll around the
00:58park and they got caught well short. Just a little reminder, isn't it, I guess,
01:02that you've always got to be at it, and you have been usually. Yeah, maybe it's just
01:07crept in a little bit thinking it's the playoff route and try maybe saving your legs or whatnot,
01:13but you need momentum going into it, and every game's important. It's vital that we finish,
01:19you know, get second spot. I know you can't turn up and do that, and yeah, I'm not happy.
01:24No. Obviously you'd have known, told them out at halftime, obviously select choice words,
01:29I guess. Second half was an improvement, but when you play a first half like that,
01:33you obviously have to play catch up, don't you? You have to play catch up. You give yourself a bit
01:37to do. Thankfully it was only the one, so it wasn't a great deal to do. But yeah, second half
01:44was better,
01:44but I don't think it could have got any worse than what it was, so anything would have been an
01:49improvement. And yeah, we give it a go late on, you know, it took a little time, a bit scrappy.
01:54But yeah, we give a bit of an onslaught last 15 minutes, and yeah, like you say, we almost won
01:58it at the end. And a big crowd today, you know, over a thousand, Derby, sunny day, you know,
02:02obviously shows everything that's happening off the pitch still, obviously, isn't it? Yeah,
02:06yeah, definitely. You know, shame the performance didn't match their attitude in the stands,
02:11so, you know, singing away and getting behind us. But, you know, it's growing all the time,
02:16and, you know, many more of them to come up with. Obviously, you always use your subs,
02:20and they make a difference. You sort of made the triple change early in the second half. I'm
02:22guessing at half-time, was it sort of give them an opportunity to start the second half,
02:26just to have a look and see and then make the change potentially, was it? Yeah, it was. Yeah,
02:30I was going to do it at half-time. I've seen enough first half. But yeah, I'd give them five
02:34minutes,
02:35and I didn't want them winning one duel. Or make the subs, and they won a duel, and they come
02:39off. Simple as that.
02:40Yeah. And as I say, yeah, obviously, got the equaliser. Imran, two and two for him off the bench,
02:47isn't he? He sort of delivers moments, doesn't he? So, yeah. Yeah, he's been patient. His attitude's
02:51been spot on, and, you know, he's never once grumbled about it. And, you know, justified after the
02:57other night coming on with a great attitude, and he's the one that come on, one of the early ones
03:01that
03:02come on. And yeah, he made a big difference with the goals as well, and almost nicked it as well.
03:06And so, the onslaught at the end, sort of the last 15 minutes or so, obviously, I guess,
03:10you know, obviously, you've got quality, and that will show. And maybe Bays and Soak tiring a bit,
03:13maybe? Yeah, possibly. You know, they put a lot of work in, you know, especially first half,
03:19how dominant they were. Yeah, we finished strong, but you can't get away from the first 45 minutes,
03:2415 minutes. It was abysmal. Yeah. And I guess that's sort of going to be the message after,
03:28you know, sort of, I guess, you know, from coming from behind, you take the point, but you can't,
03:32as you say, you can't repeat what happened in that first half. No,
03:35there's a difference. You know, Tuesday night, you know, we stuck out, we propped away,
03:40and, you know, we was looking for openings. You know, today was a totally different outcome in
03:45that. It was strolled about the pitch big time, and got caught well short.
03:50And also, I know it's all, you know, focus is always, you know, all on you and what you do,
03:54and obviously looking after yourselves. Potentially, as we speak, other results might have gone your
03:58way in the playoffs with Gloucester and Paul losing his top of shine, but you can't control that,
04:02obviously, can't you? But it's a bonus when it happens. Yeah, it is a bonus. You've got to take
04:05it as it comes, but, you know, it's through the course of the season at the start, you know,
04:09you've got to take all of them into account. So, yeah, we've just got to keep, you know,
04:14ticking them off and seeing where we end up. Yeah. Games, obviously, thick and fast all
04:18the time. Tuesday night, a long trip to Plymouth Parkway, isn't it?
04:21Yeah, it's a nice long trip that one. So, yeah, we'll get out of the way. Hopefully,
04:24the weather's nice and we travel up in like daylight and get there in daylight. So,
04:28yeah, it's one to look forward to. Yeah, it's a long trip there. And obviously,
04:31back here on Saturday against against Chelsea. Yeah.
