00:37A complex shader recreates the multiple optical behaviors that give the ocean its rich and moving colors.
00:45These technologies work together to create the most realistic virtual ocean you've ever seen.
00:52Our fully dynamic weather engine can make you feel the unique atmosphere of the Caribbean thanks to many different innovations.
01:01Rain is composed of thousands of individual raindrops, each one a particle that is independently lit.
01:10We use compute shaders to create dynamic ripples and puddles that react to the intensity and direction of the wind.
01:16We also use an innovative screen space reflection technology that accurately mirrors the world on reflective surfaces.
01:23Increased processing power allows us to use physically based volumetric fog that is computed in real time
01:28and that is also lit by multiple light sources.
01:32All of these effects work together to create unpredictable and breathtaking weather scenarios.
01:39Our global illumination technology has been rebuilt from the ground up.
01:43The light now bounces around the scene, its color changing based on the properties of the reflecting materials.
01:49During production we are able to bake thousands of light probes in a few minutes using the power of modern
01:54GPUs.
01:55This cutting edge lighting technology adds realism and immersion to ever seen in AC4 Black Flag.
02:01Another genuine breakthrough is our dynamic boarding system.
02:05The Anvilnex engine can now take two separate animated objects, in this case two ships, and build a unique dynamic
02:12nav mesh with them.
02:13This nav mesh transforms the ships from objects to a 3D map that can be navigated by the player and
02:19NPCs.
02:19This tech made it possible for us to create a completely seamless and fluid gameplay experience.
02:25Having more power also means having much more foliage and vegetation on screen.
02:313D foliage tech allows us to create rich natural settings with thousands of plants.
02:36We made the foliage fully dynamic so that it accurately reacts to the weather and the player interaction.
02:42This tech not only improves immersion, but also the stealth gameplay, as you can now see where you are hiding
02:48simply from the movement of the leaves.
02:52These are just a few examples of what makes our Caribbean open world so captivating and lifelike.
02:59We can't wait for you to experience it when AC4 Black Flag launches this fall.
