00:02Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare
00:03features a split screen co-op mode
00:05exclusive to Xbox.
00:07I was treated to a demo of this game mode.
00:14Brian, split screen co-op
00:15is exclusive to Xbox One
00:17and we've got Justin and Gary from the team demoing the game
00:19behind us here. Can you just explain what's going on?
00:21Absolutely. So they're about to plant their garden
00:23and once that garden is planted the mode is going to begin.
00:26So the point of the co-op mode
00:27in Garden Warfare is to pick a garden and defend
00:29it against endless waves of zombies.
00:34These are customized versions
00:35so the ice pea shooter is one of the customized
00:37variants of the pea shooter. He shoots frozen peas
00:39as his weapon so he actually can slow
00:41down and freeze zombies when he hits them.
00:43And then the cactus is a fire cactus and that
00:45actually does a little bit more damage than the regular
00:47cactus because it does fire damage over time
00:49whenever he hits a zombie. What other types of zombies
00:51are you going to fight in this mode? So there's going to be
00:53a lot of different boss type zombies that show
00:55up later in later waves. We have this feature
00:57called Zomboss Slots which is actually
00:59a slot machine that spins and actually chooses
01:01the boss characters that are going to appear every
01:03say four to five waves. So that's a tombstone
01:05that's actually, it's like a spawner for
01:07zombies so that'll appear somewhere in the map and
01:09they'll have to take that out. The middle one's a
01:11new type of gargantuar that we've created for
01:13Garden Warfare called a Giga Gargantuar
01:15and the last one they actually got a little bit of a coin bonus
01:17so they got some extra money so it actually rolled in their
01:19favor this time around. There's Gary
01:21in the drone again shooting down at the Giga Gargantuar. He's a little bit different
01:25he has the electric pole like a regular gargantuar
01:27but it actually shoots electrical pulses
01:30and it's really powerful and dangerous.
01:32So Justin and Gary are playing with the cactus
01:33and the pea shooter but what's your favorite combo?
01:35Well the cactus and pea shooter is a really good offensive
01:37combination. I usually like to have at least
01:39one sunflower on the team because that's going to
01:41help you with healing and so forth. But we have
01:43something called boss mode that actually helps sort of
01:45offset the lack of a sunflower. Boss mode
01:48works both on smart glass as well as
01:50on Kinect using motion control.
01:52So you can use your television basically
01:54as the top down map and use your hand
01:55and collect and drag and drop abilities using
01:58Kinect but we really like
02:00to use it as smart glass because it allows somebody
02:02sitting next to you to really get involved in the action.
02:04When you are in boss mode playing in co-op
02:06you're actually spawned in a flying RV
02:08that sort of circles around the battlefield. The fiction
02:10is that you're playing as Crazy Dave helping the
02:12plants down below and so by doing so
02:14you're actually collecting sun and you have
02:16a number of different abilities that you can use to
02:18deploy out to the battlefield. What can you drop
02:20onto the battlefield? So one thing you can drop
02:21are spotting stations. These will actually spot
02:23enemies anywhere that are near
02:26the base or your teammates
02:27and kind of show them on the HUD as well as on boss mode.
02:30We also have heal stations so this helps
02:32to keep your teammate kind of healthy
02:33and alive while they're fighting. So you can
02:35drop these right down by the base or wherever your teammates
02:38are. The one that my favorite is
02:40is actually to call in air strikes and so it's
02:42a big cherry bomb strike. You can drag and drop that
02:44out into the battlefield and if you've got a cluster
02:45of enemies down below, they'll get taken
02:48out by big exploding cherry bombs.
02:49And another one that's really handy is the resurrection.
02:52So players, if one of your teammates
02:53goes down, can be revived within say
02:55you have about 15 to 20 seconds to get to them
02:57and get them back up. But if you have a teammate
02:59that can't get to them, if you have boss mode, the boss
03:01can actually drop a resurrection station right next
03:03to them and get them right back up and fighting.
03:05So this mode ends when both players bite the bullet?
03:08Yep. So if both players go down
03:10and neither of them can be revived either by the boss
03:12or anyone else, the timer runs out
03:14and you actually lose the mode.
03:15The other way you can lose the mode is if your garden is destroyed.
03:18So remember that the real goal of this is to defend
03:20your garden for as long as possible and keep
03:21alive while you do it.
