The Creative Assembly ha rilasciato un nuovo videodiario per Total War: Rome II, il seguito diretto del celebre strategico ad ambientazione storica romana.
Trish Ryniak e Elliot Lock ci accompagnano dunque alla scoperta del comparto multiplayer del gioco, all'interno di quasi 15 minuti di video tra disquisizioni degli sviluppatori e scene di gioco vere e proprie. Nel caso in cui non siate interessati ai preamboli, la parte di gioco comincia intorno ai 5 minuti. La partita messa sotto la lente d'ingrandimento presenta un'assalto ad una città non fortificata con le forze di Pontus e Parthia che si scontrano in campo aperto.

00:18Yes you are, and welcome to our next Let's Play, which is multiplayer
00:20So I imagine you've been really busy, so why don't you let me know what you've been up to?
00:24So one of the things we've done is a feature called Quick Match
00:29And in this feature, we've looked at it to try and make it as balanced as possible
00:33So we really want this feature to be competitive, basically
00:37So what you'll do is, from the front end, just hit Quick Match
00:40And it will matchmake you against another opponent based on Elo rating
00:43And you'll go straight into a battle, fight the battle, come out of the battle
00:47And you've got a ranking system as well going on with a ladder system
00:51So how are you going to ensure that people are always going to be playing someone at the same level
00:55as you are?
00:56Is it a laddering system you have?
00:57Yeah, so based on the laddering system and the Elo that's involved in that, as well as other bits and

01:02We define which users should get matched against which bit users
01:06So if you're new to the game, you hit that button, you'll get another new player
01:10And if you're a veteran, you'll get another veteran
01:13Okay, and it's just land battles you can do?
01:15It's just land battles, yeah
01:16So it's nice and balanced, it's just sort of fair play
01:18Preset maps, everything
01:20Yeah, we've picked a bunch of handmade maps
01:23Which are really, really balanced and really, really interesting
01:25Those are cool tactics and strategies you can put down
01:28So yeah, they're in there, they're all injected

01:30What's the most amount of people that can play?

01:37So what else have you been working on?
01:40Custom battles for multiplayer
01:42Basically we've worked on a few features here, which are really, really cool
01:45One thing that everyone will find is brand new
01:49Is in previous Total War games, we've only really had 3 battle types
01:54So in this, in Rome, we've introduced 9 battle types
01:59These go from land, naval and siege, which are your standard ones
02:04Then we've got ambush, river battles, coastal battles
02:08City assaults
02:10City assaults
02:11Unfortified city assaults
02:13Unfortified port assaults
02:14Yeah, we've got a lot
02:15Yeah
02:15Which is great
02:16So there's loads and loads of variety of battle types there
02:18Which you can play and play and play
02:20But of course to support these battle types we need loads of maps
02:24So we've got a new system now which basically gives us thousands of maps
02:29And we're delivering thousands of maps through the campaign map
02:33Alright
02:33So what you can do in the multiplayer custom battle end
02:37Is you can load up the campaign map essentially, an image of this
02:41And you can select anywhere on the campaign map that you want to play
02:43So if you wanted to play, I don't know, in Egypt you can go and play in Egypt
02:47And they'll just click onto the UK and play in the UK

02:51Yeah, one of the things I actually really liked when I was playing some of the custom battles
02:55I went down to like the south of England, just started up a battle and I just had the Stonehenge

02:59In one of my battles and I was like oh wow

03:02Yeah, they've got some sort of like really cool wonders in there
03:04So if you again go back to Egypt
03:06You get the pyramids
03:07You get the pyramids
03:08Yeah
03:08So that's really really cool
03:09And you can also have sort of like your own favourite battles
03:12So for example if you have a custom battle you just pick anywhere on the map
03:14And you're like wow that was a really cool map, I really like that
03:17Can you favourite it?
03:18Yeah
03:18Yeah, you can hit save basically, mark as a favourite and it'll just be there, remembered
03:23And you can unfavour it if you want if you get bored of it later
03:27That poor map
03:27It also shows history
03:29Right
03:29So history of all the ones you've played
03:31And the quick match battles that we've balanced out, they'll also be chucked in there
03:37As well as a few others from a list point of view

03:40So you can easily slip them
03:42And they'll be probably a bit more balanced

03:45So you can play those maps as well through this

03:47And you can also do other battles
03:49So for example like if you went to sort of like the Nile
03:52Or if you did

03:55Yeah that's really interesting
03:56So if you, I don't know like you say, if you played on the Nile
03:59If you clicked exactly where the Nile is
04:01And this battlefield happened to be
04:04You would get the Battle of the Nile that we showed off a couple of months ago
04:08The same goes for Teutonburg
04:10If you clicked on Teutonburg in the campaign map
04:12You get Teutonburg as an ambush battle
04:13Which is really really cool
04:14Yeah
04:15Play that one, I really like it
04:16Yeah, yeah, I like that one too
04:17And then of course the Grand Carthage

04:20So if you clicked on Carthage
04:21You get that awesome spectacle of Carthage

04:24Which is pretty cool

09:39And you basically say to the enemy
09:40Come on then if you think it's hard enough

09:43And you micro down all of your lanes
09:45You've got a really really good chance
09:47Of defending that capture point
09:48Maybe we should talk about the capture point a little bit
09:50Because basically to win this battle
09:53We've got the standard kill wall route
09:55But also we've got this capture point in the middle
09:57For the unfortified settlement right
09:59So if I capture that I win
10:01And you're doing a pretty good job
10:02Of defending that at the moment
10:03But I'm running some cavalry
