01:15All of them working on really specific elements
01:17So the amount of work is just staggering
01:21In total it's over 30 hours of gameplay
01:24And we have two hours and a half of cinematics
01:27Which is as much as any major length movie
01:30Or even more
01:33We have an amazing team on AC3
01:36Everyone's super passionate about the project
01:38When we started AC3
01:40We knew it had to be big and ambitious and different
01:43It's very rare in your career that you get an opportunity
01:45To try and go for the gold medal
01:47And we really felt like this was our shot at it
01:49A lot of tired people on the floor right now
01:51But a lot of happy tired people
02:04We've always tried to pick exciting periods in history
02:06Then drop the player in
02:08So they're exploring that time
02:09As well as our fictional story
02:15Make ready

02:19The American Revolution was a very pivotal time
02:22Because the concept of self-government
02:25As opposed to being governed by royals
02:28It was very radical for the era
02:34It's a great setting for a game because there's high stakes
02:37It was the founding of a nation
02:39It was a time when an individual could make a difference
02:41It was all or nothing
02:42They had to win or die
02:47The Revolutionary War was an incredibly brutal experience
02:53This is something you just don't really hear about in the history books
02:55And something we wanted to bring to life in the game
03:08Connor is our new hero in Assassin's Creed 3
03:10He's half British, half Mohawk
03:12He's a humble and more grounded to nature type of person
03:17We did a lot of research into Native American culture
03:20We've recorded dialogue in their native language
03:27Excellent, I loved it
03:29And we've tried very hard to reflect their culture as accurately as possible
03:33His name, Radum Hagedum
03:35It refers to a life that is scratched
03:38Meaning that he had to struggle to survive
03:46Connor, as a hero, is someone who sees himself as a defender of the people
03:51He's more inclined to justice than revenge
03:55There's one thing to declare our independence
03:58But now, my friend, you must make it so
04:05Connor's goal is assassinate key historical figures
04:08At major battles, at major events during the Revolution
04:16He's a stealth operator
04:18He can come out and viciously make a great kill
04:23And blend right back in
04:26If George Washington would have had Connor on his team
04:29He wouldn't have needed many other people
04:42Anvil Next is an engine that gives us a possibility to do things that were not possible to do before
04:47The weather system, the seasons, the formable snow, bigger worlds in general, the ocean
04:53It's the sum of three years of improvements that we've built upon
04:58Brand new navigation system, brand new combat system
05:01Two and a half thousand characters on screen at any one time
05:03Being able to cut through interiors in the city
05:05Anvil Next is a massive leap forward in terms of gameplay opportunities
05:10Cliffs, trees, climbable stuff
05:12Water, that was pretty exciting but also very challenging
05:16We've got the frontier as well
05:18We've got two of our major cities, Boston and New York
05:20Once we dug up maps from the period
05:22We tried to match street for street or major avenue for major avenue
05:26We recreated Boston and New York at about one to three scale
05:32We set out with crazy ambitions for this game
05:35And with Anvil Next, it brings the experience to a whole new level
05:38The fascinating thing for us is that we can bring history to life
05:42We can actually make it a place that's explorable and vibrant and real
05:45We hope we're offering by far the biggest and best assassins yet

06:01American tactics were really frowned upon by the British
06:04He's trained in a very different style of fighting to the British soldiers
