00:07and today I'll be answering some questions from the community.
00:14What is the Order of the Ancients?
00:17So the Order of the Ancients is a powerful group of men and women
00:21in high echelons of Egyptian society
00:23who are manipulating the affairs of state,
00:26the affairs of religion, economics, and military from behind the scenes.
00:31They are using Ptolemy XIII, the boy king ruler of Egypt,
00:35as their puppet in order to exert this influence over the people of Egypt.
00:39A major part of Baik and Aya's journey will be uncovering
00:42who the members are of this Order of Ancients,
00:45what their goals are, and unraveling this conspiracy
00:48that goes to the very top of the Egyptian power.
00:51Are the Order of Ancients proto-Templars?
00:54So the answer is yes and no.
00:56The Order of Ancients are not Templars per se,
00:59the group that we've seen in other iterations of the Assassin's franchise that we know.
01:04But at the same time, as Baik and Aya are proto-Assassins,
01:09the members of the Order of Ancients are in the form of proto-Templars as well,
01:13in the sense that the ideology that they're fighting for,
01:16notions of control, notions of going against free will,
01:20notions of manipulating power from the shadows,
01:22closely resemble that of the Templars that we know from the rest of the series.
01:27And these ideologies are going to transform and sort of coalesce
01:31and become something different that will end up being the foundation of the Templars in the future.
01:37Are they a secret society, or are they known to the public?
01:40So, as a secret society, it's said it in the name,
01:43of course the existence of the Order of Ancients itself is unknown to the public.
01:47That being said, the members that comprise this order are, in many cases,
01:52people who occupy high stations of power and high stations of influence.
01:56So, the individual members might be known to people of the public,
02:01but they wouldn't know that behind the scenes they have a secondary agenda
02:04as participating to this conspiracy, to this order.
02:07Is there a leader of the Order?
02:09So, the exact membership of the Order and the exact power structure that exists within it
02:15is something that is one of the key things we want players to discover as they play the game.
02:19A big part of Baik and Aya's journey throughout the game
02:22is going to be uncovering the fact that this Order exists,
02:25what its power structure is,
02:28and who its members are,
02:29and unraveling this conspiracy throughout the course of the entire game story.
02:33So, I don't want to say, if there's a leader,
02:35I don't want to get into the exact details,
02:38but suffice it to say that answering that question
02:40is going to be a major part of the story of Assassin's Creed Origins.
02:44Is the Order the only enemy faction in the game?
02:47So, the Order of the Ancients is a faction that's operating behind the scenes.
02:51It's something that's not public-facing to the people of Egypt.
02:54The things that are public-facing to the people of Egypt
02:57is all of the different power struggles going on
02:59between the various political factions that are happening in the country.
03:02So, you have the army of Cleopatra,
03:04you have the army of Ptolemy XIII,
03:06which is being supported by the Order.
03:07You have the influence of Caesar and the Romans
03:09who are coming to Egypt at this very time.
03:12So, from Baik's perspective,
03:15and from the perspective of the player,
03:17there will be many different people
03:18across many different factions
03:20who come into conflict with.
03:21So, it's not simply about there being one enemy faction as such.
03:25There are many different factions at play
03:27in the power struggle at this time in Egypt.
03:30And, as in life,
03:32a lot of these factions are not black or white, but gray,
03:36where some people will be allies,
03:38other people will be enemies.
03:40And, it's kind of up to Baik to discover
03:43where his allegiances lie in those factions.
03:46Are there just male members in the Order?
03:49So, absolutely not.
03:50There are both male and female members of the Order of Ancients.
03:53At this time in Egyptian society,
03:55women actually had a very high role to play
03:59in the positions of power,
04:00Cleopatra being a perfect example,
04:02and the Order of Ancients is no different.
