00:22So I'm going to start off by saying well the fistful of dirt kind of gives us a bit of
00:25a clue.
00:26i love
00:26the music
00:27is the first thing
00:28I'm going to pick out
00:29and the reason
00:30it's going to run
00:30throughout the
00:31whole video
00:32but it's got
00:33really any
00:34Omorricone feel
00:35it's like a
00:35little parody
00:36of the music
00:37that he did
00:37for Sergio
00:38Ileone's
00:38Spaghetti Westerns
00:39which I think
00:40everyone can
00:41remember
00:42like the
00:43weird kind of
00:43choral
00:45like the rhythm
00:46section made with
00:46voices
00:47and the kind of
00:47the whistling
00:48just the thing
00:49that people
00:49are not going
00:51to even realise
00:51that they know about
00:52exactly
00:52but when they
00:53turn this game on
00:54and they look
00:54at the menu
00:55the options menu
00:55they're going
00:56to go
00:56this is a heck
00:57of an options menu
00:58and this is why
00:59because of that
00:59thing they told me
01:00about
01:01and number two
01:02very much related
01:03to that
01:03the story
01:03and the style
01:04of this game
01:05this is a game
01:06in which you dig
01:07I mean that's
01:08pretty obvious
01:08SteamWorld Dig
01:09but it's set
01:09in a western world
01:11you can see there
01:12you're a robot
01:12with a hat
01:13so obviously
01:13it's got a
01:14steampunk vibe
01:14I mean that's
01:15obviously in the
01:16title as well
01:16but basically
01:16you dig
01:17and collect things
01:18you go under
01:19the ground
01:21and the
01:23land on top
01:24like the kind of
01:25you're in
01:25there's like a
01:26western town
01:27it's like a
01:27really typical
01:29it's got a saloon
01:30there's like
01:31somewhere you can
01:32buy stuff
01:32and like a cast
01:33of robot western
01:35characters
01:35and as you
01:36but the thing I like
01:37about it
01:38as you dig
01:39and you get
01:39further and further
01:40down
01:40and you begin
01:41to uncover
01:42perhaps a little
01:43bit about the
01:43story
01:44I don't want to
01:44give too much
01:45away
01:45but about why
01:46there are robots
01:47living in a
01:48sandy world
01:49on top of the
01:50ground
01:50and this
01:51part of the
01:52game here
01:53I'm quite far
01:53down in the
01:54game at this
01:55point
01:55but you begin
01:56to see
01:56things that
01:57you might
01:57recognise
01:58from our
01:59world
02:00and you're
02:01exploring
02:01areas
02:02and everyone
02:02keeps on
02:03saying
02:03I won't
02:04go down
02:04into those
02:04parts of the
02:05mines
02:05and you go
02:06but everything
02:07is really
02:07neither one of the
02:08jewels are worth
02:09more money down
02:09here
02:09it's like
02:10here Nathan

02:11earlier and I
02:12said it's like
02:13catchphrase
02:14like you're
02:15digging away
02:16the squares
02:19and like
02:20something's being
02:21revealed behind
02:22there

03:38and so
03:39you can
03:39you basically
03:40what I love
03:41is that you
03:42are guided
03:42by you
03:43have an axe
03:43you can get
03:44stronger
03:44and then you
03:45can see I've
03:45got a drill
03:46here
03:46and you can
03:47go through
03:47different kind
03:48of thicknesses
03:49of stone
03:49and soil
03:51but basically
03:51you were guided
03:52by things that
03:53you can't knock
03:54through
03:54but otherwise
03:55this shaft
03:56is yours
03:56to kind of
03:58design
03:58it's almost like
03:59there's a puzzle
04:00element to it
04:00like you want to
04:01be able to access
04:01all the jewels
04:02and stuff that
04:03you want to do
04:03you can buy
04:03ladders but
04:04they're expensive
04:04so if you go
04:05down too far
04:06you can't dig
04:06sideways
04:07unless you
04:07build a ladder
04:07back up to it
04:08I get it
04:08I accidentally
04:09went in here
04:09twice
04:09because I'm an
04:11expert
04:12and so this
04:14is all
04:15I feel
04:15weirdly like
04:16this is all
04:17my creation
04:17I have made
04:18this mine
04:18it's mine
04:19it's mine
04:20I like that
04:22like you know
04:22because obviously
04:23I guess
04:23everyone would be
04:24playing on the
04:25same sort of
04:25basic central
04:26mine but theirs
04:26could look
04:27completely different
04:27because it's all
04:28about how they
04:29decide to
04:30explore it
04:30and if you were
04:30a better and
04:31more logical
04:32person than me
04:32I mean my
04:33design
04:34it looks like
04:35ants running
04:35around a crazy
04:36person's mind
04:37but you could
04:38design it so
04:39that there's
04:39all like nice
04:40neat staircases
04:41branching off
04:42and that's how
04:43I'd do it
04:44just to be clear
04:45sure yeah
04:45I've seen the way
04:46that you structure
04:47folders on the
04:48Mac so I can
04:49imagine yeah
04:49that'll be
04:50and I apologise
04:52as I say I
04:53apologise for it
04:53being a little
04:54bit dark
04:54and look how
04:55we're getting
04:55to the top
04:56and it's also
04:57worth mentioning
04:57that the way
04:59that you navigate
04:59your kind of
05:00robot dude
05:00with the hat
05:03the jumping
05:03is the
05:04platforming
05:04element of
05:05the game
05:06is really
05:08used to it
05:08and it's
05:09really kind
05:10of responsive
05:11it's an
05:12excellent part
05:12of the game
05:13and that
05:13leads me to
05:14number four
05:14which is the
05:15puzzles
05:15which require
05:17an element
05:17of acrobatics
05:19I almost said
05:20that in French
05:20for some reason
05:21I assumed it
05:22would be
05:22acrobatics
05:22so you can
05:23see this is
05:24an early one
05:24so this is a
05:25branching area
05:26of the main
05:28mine
05:28and each one
05:30represents
05:31a little area
05:32that you have
05:32to puzzle
05:33your way
05:33through
05:33not tough
05:34at the beginning
05:35they get harder
05:36as you go

05:38armadillo

07:04one is
07:04you get
07:05a drill
07:05which you
07:06use for
07:06digging through
07:07heavy stone
07:08and also
07:09enemies
07:10if you want
07:11to
07:11as I have
07:12done here
07:13so there's
07:13sort of an
07:14element of
07:14resource management
07:15a little bit
07:15as well
07:16like you need
07:16water to
07:17yes
07:18for the steam
07:18the lamplight
07:20is that
07:20just to
07:21aid you
07:22seeing
07:22there's no
07:23cost to
07:24it running
07:24out of
07:25lamplight
07:25really
07:25apart from
07:25you might
07:26do you know
07:27I've not
07:27actually run
07:27out because
07:28I'm very
07:28good
07:28so I've
07:29not run
07:29out
07:29we saw
07:30some capture
07:30of you
07:31running out
07:31yeah but
07:32no but there
07:32were fixed
07:33lights along
07:34the route
07:34so if I was
07:35entirely plunged
07:36into darkness
07:36a little thing
07:37comes up saying

07:39but I don't
07:40know whether

08:05say resource
08:05management don't
08:06starve an
08:07element to
08:08you're basically
08:09gearing yourself
08:10up for an
08:10expedition every
08:11time then going
08:12and fetching
08:12stuff and the
08:13deeper you go
08:13and you can
08:14kind of you
08:15know set way
08:16points along
08:16the way
08:16we can make
08:17it easy to
08:17get back to
08:18it the deeper
08:19you go the
08:19more valuable
08:20the things that
08:21you bring back
08:21it's really good
08:22fun so far
08:23it's all in
08:23this sort of
08:23charming setting
08:25as well I mean
08:25everyone likes
08:26the idea of
08:27cowboy robots
08:27I'm sure
08:28yeah yeah
