01:06A hundred times in my head to get them correctly
01:08So without further ado
01:11I'm going to let Lionheart
01:13Go over a few of these factions
01:14So let's have a look
01:16At the Jutes
01:18So start off with their religion
01:20Germanic Paganism
01:21They've got the cultural trait
01:23Which all the Viking factions
01:24Or the Norsemen share
01:27Viking Raiders
01:29Which gives them a plus 75%
01:32From sacking, looting and raiding
01:34So really an emphasis already
01:36On just pillaging as you go
01:38It's not... I mean you've got the Horde factions
01:40In the game which are kind of
01:41Rays and move on
01:42These guys are just destroy
01:45As you go
01:46Loot, pillage
01:47True Viking fashion
01:48Very true
01:49And the starting location
01:51So Junts are up there in Denmark
01:55What is Denmark now?
01:56And then you've got Copenhagen
01:57For the Danes
01:58Very apt
01:59And then the Geats here
02:00Starting up in Sweden
02:02Southern Sweden
02:03So yeah
02:04So the Viking trait
02:06Definitely
02:06They've all got that
02:07And they all have their own
02:09Faction specific trait
02:10So for the Jutes
02:11It's the spoilers
02:12So extra income
02:14For every unit destroyed
02:16And income plus 200%
02:18From raising settlements
02:19So that's on top of the 75
02:22That they've already got
02:23So that's a huge amount
02:25Of bonus income
02:27You're going to get
02:27So really unless
02:29You don't think
02:31You can stick around
02:31For a couple of turns
02:32To lock down that public order
02:34Afterwards
02:35You know
02:36You're going to want
02:36To raise every turn

03:54The Danes
03:54Potentially one of the most
03:56Recognisable of the
03:57Nordic factions
03:58Or the Norsemen
04:00So

04:01Germanic Paganism as their religion
04:04Cultural trait
04:05Viking Raiders
04:06And faction trait
04:07Seaborne
04:08Now this is a mechanic
04:09I didn't actually know about
04:10Us
04:11Yes
04:11You explained this to me earlier
04:13Which is
04:15Transport ships
04:16In Attila
04:18So that obviously
04:19You can't just go
04:21With your transport
04:21Into naval ships
04:22And they're not going to be equal
04:23Because it's a transport
04:25They're not men
04:25That have been trained
04:26To fight
04:27And live on the sea
04:28So
04:29By default
04:30Armies that go into the sea
04:32Will suffer from seasickness
04:34And again
04:35In
04:35High sea attrition areas
04:37They're going to take attrition
04:38They're going to lose men
04:39If they go into
04:40Far out parts of the sea
04:43Unless they hug the coastline
04:45However
04:45The Danes
04:47They don't
04:48They don't suffer seasickness
04:49They're immune
04:50To seasickness
04:50And they're immune
04:51To high seas attrition
04:52So you can send these guys anywhere
04:53For quick raiding
04:54Again with that
04:56Viking Raiders
04:58Cultural trait
04:59They can just go
04:59They can raid
05:00They don't have to go
05:01Hug the coastline
05:02Which will take longer
05:03They can just go straight across the sea
05:04With their sighting position
05:05Maybe that will be
05:06The sort of
05:07The north
05:08Sort of
05:09Germanic coast
05:09Or you can go over to England
05:11Start raiding
05:12Sail on back
05:13You're happy
05:13You go for a
05:14You know
05:14A little holiday
05:15Sounds good
05:15Yeah I mean
05:17The means of seasickness
05:18Is so useful
05:19But they've grown up with sailing on a regular basis
05:24So for them it's not difficult
05:26And they definitely have an advantage to that
05:28And yeah with the high sea attrition
05:30It means that they can just go into uncharted waters
05:32Where other people would fear to tread
05:35So seasickness for other factions
05:37What sort of effect does that have on the units in a transport then
05:40If they are suffering from seasickness?
05:42They're just less effective
05:45Lower morale
05:46Lower combat damage
05:48Just across the board they are just not as effective
05:50So for the Danes their transport ships are very powerful
05:54And their navy ships are literally almost untouchable
05:58And they have special units for that as well
06:00Exactly
06:00They have the fearsome dragon warships
06:03Yeah they've got some
06:05They have two special naval units
06:07And they are deadly
06:08And more importantly they're not only deadly at sea
06:11The whole thing about the Danes is
06:13They can just go with their navy
06:16Once they disembark
06:17These aren't just kind of normal marines
06:18Which are you know normally pretty reasonable mid tier units
06:21These guys are going to be really strong
06:24Some of them those dragon ships elite units
06:27Even when they disembark
06:28They're ready to fight and they're ready to pillage, raid and conquer
06:32That's what they do best
06:34On to the Geats
06:36The Geats
06:37In southern Sweden
06:39Yeah so Germanic paganism again
06:41Cultural trait of Viking raiders
06:43Now they have a very interesting faction trait
06:46Cold blood
06:47Yes and in a world where the winters are getting longer
06:52And the snow line is slowly moving down across Europe
06:56This is an amazing trait to have
06:58Probably one of the best
07:00When I've been playing
07:01I kind of found that the ability to campaign all year round
07:05And not have to worry about the snow attrition and so on
07:07Is brilliant
07:08And more importantly even when you're on the defensive
07:11The armies come for you and yeah they can siege you
07:14They can do whatever
07:14You can retreat back in safety
07:15And you're immune to snow attrition
07:17So you can wander through the snow
07:19And more importantly then you can attack through
07:21So if you've got a very decisive battle
07:24And you know it's going to be close
07:25And they always happen
07:27Wait until winter and then launch that attack
07:29That extra morale will help you decisively in most cases
07:32Traditional campaigning for armies would have been during the summer or the spring
07:36So with these guys you're not limited to stopping your campaign season when winter comes
07:41In fact if anything you're probably looking forward to winter the most
07:44Yes and more importantly like with that bonuses
07:47And like I said that snow line is going all over Europe
07:50So you can sit down and wait for the winters to get longer and colder
07:53And then start going out and raiding
07:55And you know that is an amazing faction trait
07:59And easily I'd think one of the best in the game
08:00Probably definitely
08:01I mean the Danes had a good start with having immunity to seasickness
08:06But you get immunity to snow attrition
08:08Sea sickness, snow attrition
08:10Snow attrition
08:11Cold blood
08:12I want something like that
08:12Also the starting location as well
08:14Really far in the north
08:15You literally have almost no one
08:17We'll see this in a bit
08:18When we actually have a look at the faction of the campaign map
08:20But important to note
08:21Of all the Norsemen factions
08:23The Nordic factions
08:24The Geats are the only ones to start off with a province capital
08:27With a walled settlement
08:29Yes
08:30So they have a much more of a
08:32So not only can they sit back and wait for winter really
08:35To deal the most damage and take the least amount of attrition
08:38No attrition through snow
08:41You know they can just sit there in their lovely big old province capital
08:44They can just wait for everything to get really cold
08:47Before they warm their hands and blunder the enemies
08:51Which are many
08:53So we've had a look at the factions
08:55We have indeed
08:56So which one do you think you're going to jump into and play first?
09:02Well I quite like the look of the Jutes there

09:34So I guess we get straight into it then

09:57So I guess we'll be jumping in with the Jutes

10:03We do maybe the first 10 turns just continuously
10:05And show you what's going on
10:06But I thought for Lionheart here
10:08It's good to just show you like the pivotal moments within the campaign
10:13Obviously time is always limited in these cases
10:15So it's best to try and pick the best moments for you to see
10:18So you'll see some of the turning points
10:20And also just you know little snapshots of what you'll come to expect
10:24When you're playing in Toll War Tiller
10:26And with the Viking Forefathers
10:28And we're going to go with the Jutes
10:29So let's see what the spoilers can do
10:31Into the Jutes
10:33But don't worry we're not going to give too much away
10:34We'll probably get into the first 40, 50 turns here
10:37So show you some of the highlights
10:38My plan is as follows
10:42Attack the angles, kill the angles
10:45That is my plan

10:48After that I probably wouldn't mind going over to Britain to see what's left

10:54Yeah my main objective is to try and get rid of the angles

10:57If I have an opportunity to hit the Danes while I'm at it

11:06You just don't want to fight them during the winter

11:09I'm non-aggressions and trade with them
11:11First thing I'm going to do though
11:12Because I want to push south and inland
11:15And the settlement isn't a port settlement
11:18I'm actually going to get rid of my starting fleet
11:20To give myself a bit of a bonus to my income
11:23I've already got 26 surplus food
11:26So
11:28Also I want to
11:32Get a grasp of the governor situation here
11:34So I am going to get this fine chap here

11:40To be the governor of my region
11:43I'm also going to tell him to seek a wife
11:46Because he needs a lady friend

11:51I can probably set a couple of these guys as companions
11:54In the offices here
11:55Which is kind of like Secure Promotion was in Rome 2
11:59So that will give them bonuses and recruitment costs
12:01For if they then become a governor in a settlement
12:04Or if they become a general in an army
12:06And these guys are extra candidates
12:08Which I can use later on
12:10When available
12:12I'm just going to go to the research
12:13And then go straight through with military
12:15To regional defence force
12:17That lets me get a hunters camp
12:19And
12:20Lowers recruitment costs slightly
12:22Then I can issue a provincial edict
12:25And I'm going to go for construction costs
12:27Which is minus 10%
12:28From those
12:29And plus 10 growth
12:30And I'm actually not going to build anything this turn
12:32Because
12:33Next turn
12:34I'll be able to save money
12:35With those construction costs from my edict
12:36That I've just deployed
12:37And again edicts in Attila
12:39Aren't like edicts in Rome 2
12:40They just need a governor in place
12:43And then

12:48Where you don't need to control all three
12:50As you did in Rome 2

12:52Is quite nice

14:41And probably build up a secondary force

14:45So let's get you guys ready to the border
14:47We're not going to move in yet

14:52Uh the angles here
14:53They have an army
14:53The lone fighters
14:54Eight out of twenty stack there
14:56And if we have a look at the garrison details
14:59Which is a nice feature

15:01You can easily see which units are readily available
15:04And they're set between distinctive uh army groups
15:07Uh defences of the settlement
15:10And naval support
15:11For the garrison
15:12So we can see they've only got three units for their garrison
15:14We can also look at gathered information
15:16Um which is the intelligence that we've gathered
15:19Uh from this settlement
15:21This can be improved by establishing uh
15:23An intelligence network which we'll probably do with spies
15:26And uh what have you
15:27But obviously moving closer with armies
15:29Will reveal that kind of like fog of war
15:31Um setting there
15:33So we can see the wealth
15:34We can see immigration
15:36We can see the security against agent actions
15:38And the settlements have um
15:40Kind of their own base defences against agents
15:42Which will probably help
15:45Potentially um
15:48Improve the way you use agents
15:49And the AI won't be able to just throw agent upon agent against you
15:53And they'll have to be more careful about how they use them
15:56Uh you could also see the amount of uh food supply
15:59That that settlement is generating
16:01The uh religion
16:03Percent that is present of Germanic paganism
16:05And we can also see their uh public order
16:08And how much it's growing per term
16:09As well as any bonuses the settlement has
16:12Which is currently a motivated populace
16:14With growth plus three
16:15Tax rate plus four
16:16And we can also see bonus from the season autumn
16:20Plus fourteen more food from the autumn harvest
16:24Very good indeed
16:24So we're going to get ready to go

17:50Immunity to desert attrition
17:52Snow attrition
17:53And swamp attrition
17:54When we are fortified
17:55Which makes sense
17:56You know
17:57If you're in a hostile environment
17:58You'd want to try and shelter from the cold
18:00We also get deployables
18:02Replenishment rate is increased
18:03Reinforcement range is increased
18:05Integrity
18:06Which is another new system
18:07Sort of like morale for the army
18:10Yes
18:10So you want to keep your morale
18:12Your integrity
18:13High as possible
18:14And it acts like public order
18:15Where you have various states of change
18:18Contributing factors to that
18:19As you can see politics
18:20King zone
18:22Resting
18:22Fortify
18:23So the fact that we've got a king in this army
18:24Is actually helping
18:25The army feel better
18:27You know
18:28Higher morale
18:29And the higher the integrity
18:30The kind of higher the buffs
18:32Or bonuses
18:33If it's high
18:34Or the lower the morale bonuses
18:37If it's low
18:37For the army
18:39When it goes into battle
18:40So it's quite important
18:41Because you can have
18:42The most elite army
18:43Your faction can wield
18:44But if it's got low integrity
18:46It's either going to perform very badly
18:48Or is that something
18:49That could potentially lead to rebel
18:50Or mend desert
18:52And leave your army
18:53Yeah
18:53They can desert
18:54They can go against you
18:57You're basically dealing with
18:59The army isn't just
19:00The one or two units
19:02It's a tool
19:03It's a whole entity
19:04It's a tool
19:04It's a whole element
19:04And that can be a brutal tool
19:06Or it can be a sharp tool
19:08And if it's suffered a load of defeats
19:10Then it is not going to be a very effective weapon
19:13But also other things that play into that
19:15Is obviously critical events
19:16And family tree
19:19But also the regions you take them to
19:21So if you take the Norsemen all the way to Egypt
19:24Then they're not going to be as happy as they were up in the north
19:28No
19:28They're not going to necessarily want to live too long
19:30They don't like the foreign lands too much
19:31They're for a short holiday
19:33But not for resettlement

25:50Which just makes the metals feel more important

25:54It feels a bit more defensible now
25:56But you've got the towers there as well

26:22And where those kind of natural entrances are
26:23You'll often find there's a watchtower as well
26:25Which can do quite a lot of damage
26:26This is quite effective
26:28So even though they don't have the big walls of a province capital
26:31And why would they if they're a little outlying village
26:33They do have these little palisades around the place
26:36And obviously you have the new feature of Attila
26:40These deployable barricades all over the place
26:43Normally I think something this size is probably just limited to one
26:45So you'd have to choose quite carefully
26:46Whether you want to hold there or there
26:48Those can obviously be destroyed
26:50But they will channel you
26:52Or if you're defending the AI elsewhere
26:54But this one in particular
26:55That's going to be a slog up that hill to get to that capture point
26:59Is if they defend it, yeah
