00:04PlayStation 4's Firmware Update 2.5 is now upon us,
00:08which means a host of improvements and new functions that make your already great PS4 even greater.
00:14Here are 7 key highlights that you need to know about.
00:17Number 1. System Suspend and Resume is here, and it does exactly what you think it does.
00:23Now, when you're in the middle of a game and you put your PS4 into rest mode using the subtly
00:27updated Quick Menu like this,
00:30you can jump in and out of your games without losing your progress.
00:36Hello Zombies! Remember me? Remember my hammer?
00:41Number 2. Facebook friends search is a thing.
00:44So by heading into your account settings, selecting Link to Other Services and choosing Facebook,
00:49you can find Facebook friends that you've not connected with on PlayStation already,
00:53as long as they have their Facebook account linked to their PSN online ID as well.
00:57Number 3. Trophies are shinier than ever.
01:01A few different improvements have been made to the Trophies app.
01:04There are now new options for sorting and filtering your trophies,
01:07and options been added to delete games with a 0% trophy count,
01:11and a search shortcut makes it easy to find hints and guides to grab trophies that you're having trouble with.
01:17Lastly, and perhaps coolest of all, whenever you earn a trophy,
01:20your PS4 will now automatically take a screenshot of that moment to make sharing your triumphs,
01:25like Dave earning this chicken related trophy on Rogue Legacy, super easy.
01:30Number 4. Connecting with friends just got easier.
01:33Small tweaks to the way friend activity is reported makes it easier to see what they're up to and to
01:39join in.
01:39Now Playing, which shows the games your friends are in right now,
01:43has been moved right up front into what's new,
01:45with quick options allowing you to join the session, play the same game,
01:49or see that game in the PlayStation Store if you don't have it yet.
01:53Number 5. New accessibility options.
01:56New options have been added to make using PS4 easy for everybody.
02:00Now in the settings menu, there's a section called Accessibility,
02:04and in here are various options for things like making text more legible,
02:08adding more contrast to the menu screens,
02:11and customizing your DualShock 4 button assignments.
02:14You can also tick this box to add the accessibility options to your quick menu,
02:18so you can find them much more easily in future.
02:23Number 6. SharePlay gets a frame rate bump.
02:26As well as a new option enabling you to test the host connection before launching SharePlay like this,
02:32there's also now an option to run SharePlay at 60 frames per second using this option in the party settings
02:38menu.
02:39More frames for everybody.
02:42Number 7. It's time to back up, or at least it's now possible, using an external hard drive.
02:48Introduced due to popular demand, the option found here in the settings menu
02:52enables you to back up all of your account information and game data on an external USB device to keep
02:58it extra safe.
