00:04Hello everybody, you're watching XS, I'm Nathan and today I have some exciting news. Available now for PlayStation 4 is
00:12update 1.70, which I know doesn't sound very exciting, but does include several very handy improvements to do with
00:21video capture and gameplay footage, some of which we've been waiting for for a long time.
00:25The biggest of these is this one, which actually looks quite small, a little checkbox to enable HDCP. Of course
00:34what this really means is that you can now disable HDCP too, which is the copy protection on the signal
00:39running through your HDMI cables. And what that means is that you can now record PS4 footage using your HDMI
00:46setup and an appropriate capture device, like an Elgato.
00:49If you haven't got a capture device, there's still good news for you. The update also enabled PS4 users to
00:56copy gameplay footage and screenshots captured using the PS4's own share button to a USB device. In other words, it's
01:03now super easy to get your gameplay off your console and onto a computer for editing, sharing and uploading anywhere
01:10you'd like, including, of course, YouTube.
01:12And don't worry if you don't have a capture device, or a USB stick, or in extreme cases, YouTube, because
01:19the update has you covered there too. Available for PS4 now is Share Factory, which lets you gather together your
01:25gameplay clips, edit them together, put music over the top and generally make yourself look much better at games than
01:31you really are.
01:32It includes a pretty sophisticated set of editing tools. Look, transitions! And we'll be making a more in-depth guide
01:38to it as soon as Dave figures out all the buttons.
01:42Away from video things, the update also provides two other much-demanded features. Head into the settings menu or hold
01:48down the PlayStation button to get to the devices menu.
01:51And here you'll be able to adjust the brightness of the light bar on your DualShock 4. Bright, medium, or
02:02dim. Ta-da! No more disrupting in the dark horror game.
02:06It's worth noting that brightness settings are specific to each profile, so it's possible for DualShock 4s connected to the
02:12same PS4 to be different brightnesses.
02:16And lastly, with the updated PlayStation app on iOS and Android, you'll now be able to upload a profile picture
02:23directly to your PSN account and your PS4.
02:26Which means it can be anything you like, a quickly taken snap in the app itself, or a carefully lit
02:31shot of you looking thoughtful and kind that it took 27 goes to get just right and that you have
02:36on your phone's gallery.
02:38And those are the best bits of update 1.70. Let us know how you're getting on with the new
02:42functionality, have you uploaded a new profile picture,
02:44and what other things you'd like to see included in future updates.
02:48Also, don't forget to like this video in the name of justice and subscribe to access for all your PlayStation
