00:04Hey guys, look, it's sunny in London, so we have forced everyone to come outside and film
00:09because we want to prove that we get sunshine in England, but I'm with Arnie and we're talking
00:13all about The Last of Us Remastered and I've got your community questions, so I went back
00:17through the last video, I pulled as many questions as possible and we're going to go through
00:21some, and I have some bonus fun ones as well. Oh, excellent. Okay, you ready? Can't wait.
00:25Yeah. Okay, so we're going to start with Andy Pone would like to know, how hard was the
00:30transition from PS3 to PS4 in terms of production and sort of remaking the game?
00:34It was, on some aspects, it was easier than our jump from PS2 to PS3 because we had to build
00:41an engine from scratch. In this case, we were able to iteratively move our PS3 engine to PS4,
00:47but there were some challenges in the way. We were so bound to the SPUs and the PS3 architecture
00:53for a lot of the stuff that we did with The Last of Us that, you know, we couldn't just
00:58transfer it all over. We had to actually redo a lot of that stuff just to make it work the
01:01same way. So there's some better, there's some easy parts and there's some challenging parts.
01:05Yeah, that's quite good. Neil Mortimer would like to know, and is the Left Behind DLC integrated
01:10seamlessly into the main story or is it separate from the PS3 like in the original?
01:14It's just like the original, so it's a separate menu option. It is unlocked from the start,
01:18so if you have played the PS3 version, and so therefore it's not spoiling anything for
01:23you when you play Left Behind, you can actually jump straight into Left Behind if you want.
01:27Okay, right. Burrito Tester would like to know, will the multiplayer stats carry over from
01:32PS3 to PS4? Unfortunately, they're not. The multiplayer is completely separate, but we
01:36do recognize that if you have played multiplayer on the PS3 version, you'll get a supply bonus
01:40on your PS4 account. Okay, so you get some kind of extras for playing well.
01:45Okay, um, Sawblood45, charming, would like to know, does the game have a making of documentary?
01:52Uh, well, we have a day one patch that's coming out, and there's two things that day one patch
01:56is adding. One of them is a screenshot tool that I think everyone's sort of pretty excited about.
02:00Very similar to the infamous one. And on that too, on the day one patch, um, the grounded
02:04behind the scenes documentary, which is our full length making of documentary, uh, you'll be able
02:08to actually watch that as well, and it'll be in the video options in the menu.
02:11Oh, there you go. Something else good to watch. Okay, um, here we go. Yuchata Itachi would
02:17like to know, will we be able to play with PS3 players? So I'm assuming he means multiplayer.
02:21Yeah, and multiplayer. Uh, unfortunately, those two, uh, will be separate, um, so all the PS4
02:26players will be in their own pool, and the PS3 players will be in their own pool as well.
02:29Probably not bad if you're kind of new, maybe, to PS4 and this is the first time you've played,
02:33so at least you're not going to go straight onto the maps.
02:34And I mean, there's, I mean, there's also, like, uh, visual differences in terms of, like,
02:38how we're hitting 60 now, and the previous ones are 30, so I know that some people are
02:42going to be like, well, the 60 frames per second players are going to have an advantage,
02:45it's all of that, so this is a good way of keeping a level playing field.
02:47I like it. Okay, that leads on to, uh, Samuel Leon's next question, which is, is the multiplayer
02:5260 frames per second?
02:54Multiplayer is 60 frames per second. The entire game, both single-player and multiplayer,
02:57will both run at 60 frames.
02:58There you go. There, you can take that quote, you can bank it, it'll all be in the comment section.
03:02Wonderful. Okay, Dreadhead said, um,
03:04Did The Last of Us ever bring you to a dark place emotionally when you were kind of creating
03:08the game?
03:09Uh, I don't know about a dark place, but, uh, The Last of Us really has emotional ups and
03:13downs, um, I don't, probably not very many people that haven't cried towards the beginning
03:17of the game.
03:18The first half an hour is, uh, yeah, it's really intense.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Um, so, you know, I think between all the ups and downs, I mean, you definitely feel it,
03:25um, I think the, the guys and, you know, the, Troy and Ashley that put the voices together
03:30and Neil wrote a really great script that really, uh, bring out the emotion in you, so,
03:33kind of about dark place.
03:34I think, you know, there are times where it's been really tough on us, uh, when we're playing
03:37through the game and there's times, uh, you know, where we feel better.
03:39There's some pretty amazing things to look at.
03:41Um, some interesting character development, so, kind of all over the place.
03:45Okay.
03:45I like it.
03:47Okay, um, Martin would like to know, will there be a special EQ setting for the wireless stereo
03:52headset?
03:53Uh, well, we were trying, we, I think we ended up supporting it on the PS3, so we're going to
03:56look into, um, special settings for that.
03:58And actually, in the, uh, audio settings for, uh, The Last of Us Remastered, um, there's
04:04some expanded audio settings now, so depending on if you have surround sound or, uh, headset
04:08or your TV, um, this is way beyond my capabilities, but you can, like, change, like, the angle of
04:13deflection the speakers are to you, so you can get, like, an appropriate soundscape.
04:17I don't know too much about that, that's not my area of expertise, but you've got some options
04:20already built in that weren't available on the PS3 version.
04:22Wow, I like it.
04:24Okay, right.
04:25Next, we have Admiral HD.
04:27Uh, has making the remastered version of The Last of Us had an impact on the, uh, development
04:31of Uncharted 4?
04:33Uh, it has in a way.
04:34I mean, one of the reasons we did want to do, uh, The Last of Us Remastered is it helped
04:37us test our PS4 engine and our tools pipeline that we've been working on for Uncharted 4.
04:41Uh, and one of the best ways to do that is to put a full game out.
04:44Uh, and we had, since we basically had a full game ready to do that, um, it helped us make
04:48some advances on our PS4 engine development.
04:50So, uh, in the long run, it will help us on Uncharted 4.
04:53Come back and ask me after Uncharted 4 is out and we'll see if I can tell you what they
04:56are.
04:56We will, we will.
04:57We'll be back, I'm sure of it.
04:59I hope you forget.
05:00Okay, Ben Stewart would like to know, is The Last of Us going to be, uh, the next series
05:04after Uncharted 4?
05:06And will there be any links between the two franchises?
05:08Sneaky!
05:09Yeah, I know.
05:10Basically, is there going to be a sequel?
05:12Yeah, I think that's what he's asking.
05:12So I can read between the lines a little bit there.
05:14Um, I mean, I, you know, I'm going to fall back to something that we say all the time
05:17at Naughty Dog, um, when we get asked for sequels, and it's, you know, when we, we try to create,
05:22create every story as a self-contained story, um, so it doesn't have to continue as a franchise.
05:27And I know there's a lot of debate whether people want The Last of Us to continue.
05:30And for us, it really comes down to if we can tell a story that we're excited about,
05:34that we think is interesting, and we're able to wrap it up in an interesting, uh, gameplay
05:37package, uh, then we will keep on working on that.
05:40If we don't feel that way, then we'll let it go.
05:42Um, right now, it's a little too early for us to figure that out, because we are working
05:45on Uncharted.
05:46Okay.
05:46Thank you.
05:47Okay, uh, Anthony would like to know, uh, has the Naughty Dog team ever been too nervous
05:52to announce a new game, because so much is expected of you?
05:55Um, I, you know, we get jitters every time we announce a game, every time we show the
05:59game publicly.
05:59I mean, even after doing, like, the whole campaign, we've been showing screenshots and video
06:03and hands-on to people when we release a game, we still get some of the jitters,
06:06because, you know, we only know what we feel inside the studio, and, you know, we know we
06:11work on something great, and, like, sometimes you feel like, you know, you're working on
06:14something special, but you never know how the public at large and how our community is
06:17going to come across with it.
06:18So we're always a little nervous about how that comes across.
06:21Okay, finally, um, I had to finish with this one, Jordy, so it's your question.
06:25Who would win in a fight, Nathan Drake or Joel?
06:28Uh.
06:28This, by the way, was a hot topic inside when I mentioned it to the team.
06:31Everyone kind of has a different idea.
06:32Yeah, we had a big debate about this.
06:34Um, you know, I think, I think they're both, they're both going to, like, maybe try to
06:38approach each other, and Nathan Drake's going to make a wisecrack, and it's going to totally
06:41catch Joel off guard, and Joel's going to be like, yeah, but can you craft, like, a
06:46spiked baseball bat, and Drake's like, no, and I think they're going to end up being
06:49friends, because they're going to learn a little bit from each other.
06:51Beautiful.
06:52Beautiful.
06:53That's a non-answer for you.
06:54That's the best non-answer ever.
06:55Thank you so much.
06:56There you go.
06:56Those are the community questions that we have for the incredible Last Diversary Mastered, and from
07:01the wonderful studio Naughty Dog.
07:03So thank you so much for your time.
07:04No problem.
07:04You guys can stay tuned to the channel, because we'll have loads more coming up from just
07:07everything PlayStation.
