00:05Hello! I'm Chloe, and I'm on the team at Turtle Rock Studios.
00:08In this video, we'll be talking about the importance of sneaking
00:11and some of the strategy behind how to use it.
00:14In order to sneak, just press down on the stealth button,
00:17and you'll see yourself crouch down and start moving slowly and low to the ground.
00:21When you're sneaking, you will not leave visible tracks or make any footstep sounds.
00:25This denies the primary method most hunters use for tracking you
00:28and can really slow them down.
00:31However, even when you are sneaking,
00:33you can still scare birds by walking directly over them.
00:36As a general rule, just give birds a wide berth,
00:39as you don't want to risk alerting the hunters.
00:42In sneak mode, instead of performing a normal melee attack,
00:45you do a pounce attack.
00:47This specialized move pins your target to the ground so you can melee them to death.
00:51For the hunters, the only way to break pounce is by damaging the monster.
00:55This is probably the single best reason never to wander off alone with a hunter.
00:59You never know when you might need a buddy to shoot the monster off you.
01:02Or, you know, a plant.
01:05A cool tip is that you don't have to pounce immediately.
01:07You can hold the pounce and wait for the perfect time to release it.
01:10If you need to stop a pounce at any time while aiming or grappling,
01:14just press the sneak button again.
01:17Sneaking is a useful mechanic that allows you to ambush,
01:20mislead, or escape hunters,
01:22but its effectiveness is entirely dependent on how you use it.
01:25If you've been sneaking around during your 30-second head start,
01:28but failed to realize Maggie was on the team,
01:31Daisy the Pet Drapjaw will sniff out your trail
01:33and quickly give the hunters a good idea of where you are.
01:36It would be even worse if you were sneaking towards a dead end,
01:39as it would make it much easier for the hunters to surround and track you.
01:44A better idea would be to leave a few visible tracks at the start
01:47to give the hunters a sense of where you were heading,
01:49but then sneak in a different direction until you can start running
01:52and leaving a trail out of the immediate line of sight.
01:55Most players will continue down the trail looking for additional tracks,
01:58but if they couldn't see anymore,
02:00they may slow down to search for new ones.
02:02We suggest not wasting your head start sneaking too much,
02:05unless you're trying to play some serious mind games with people,
02:08but I'll leave that to the advanced players.
02:11We hope this broadens your understanding of the whole hide-and-seek aspect of the game,
02:15and we look forward to seeing how devious you all can get
02:17stealthing and tracking each other.

02:42You just have to be a few seconds.
02:43You just have to do it.
02:44Pay attention.
02:45We're going to be a little bit closer.
02:45We've got to be one of the other ways to come and see,
