00:05Hello, I'm Chloe and I'm on the team at Turtle Rock Studios.
00:09Evolve is a game where the tide of battle can shift quickly.
00:11You never truly know how things will play out.
00:14As you get more familiar with the game,
00:16you'll learn that there is a time to fight and there is a time to run.
00:19And this goes for both the hunters and the monster.
00:22Here we'll give you some examples to help you better gauge your situation
00:25so that you can keep the fights going in your favor.
00:29Anytime you are chasing your prey,
00:31you give them the power to lead you into a trap or an ambush.
00:35This also gives the monster the ability to establish the battlefield and choose when to fight.
00:40If you do choose to fight as a monster, you should gain some armor, grab a buff,
00:44or find a good ambush point first.
00:47Being able to surprise attack your opponent gives you a big advantage in landing that first hit.
00:53In combat, you have to consider what you were gaining and what you were losing.
00:57Whenever you incap a hunter, you can inflict one strike, permanently reducing their maximum health pool for the future.
01:03That means progress against the hunters.
01:06While you still have armor, you can continue to fight and do damage before your calculated retreat.
01:13As the monster, if you are losing health and not taking hunters down, they are winning that fight and you
01:18should run to minimize your loss of health.
01:21Not only should you choose your battles based on immediate progress, but there are also some other variables to consider.
01:26For instance, a monster could be slowly taking hunters down, but also losing a little health himself, making the fight
01:34seem fairly equal.
01:35However, if the fight is still going with one hunter left and the dropship arrives, the monster might have to
01:41face four hunters all over again without a break.
01:44It is a really good practice to keep track of the dropship timer since, in this case, the monster really
01:49should have cut his losses and escaped when he saw his time running out.
01:52However, from the hunter's side, if you realize you are the sole survivor on your team, you need to get
01:57out of there.
01:57You cannot solo the monster, and you need to stay alive until your team comes back.
02:02A fully dead team means the monster wins.
02:05In another scenario, the hunters might be aggressively laying into a monster and doing really well until the monster manages
02:12to kill the medic.
02:14The hunter's safety blanket of heals is gone, and any damage taken is effectively permanent.
02:19In a spot like this, it would be wise for the hunters to disengage unless they are absolutely confident they
02:25can finish the monster off quickly.
02:27We can't address every single question of, should I stay or should I go?
02:31It's a constant question in Evolve, and you'll learn what works for you and your team as you play.
02:36But we hope this video has given some insight into recognizing when you're in trouble, or when you're kicking ass.
02:42You'll just have to try and test the limits. Who knows? Sometimes risky plays pay off.
