00:55So you mentioned Karnaka just a few minutes ago. It's a new setting, but it's
00:59clearly in the world, but it looks different. What's different about where we are?
01:04Well, Karnaka is called the jewel of the south. It's a warmer climate. If Dunwall is modeled
01:11after Scotland and England, Karnaka might be modeled after Greece or Spain or Italy. It's
01:18like southern Europe. And so there are warmer beaches there. People go to sun to recover
01:25their health and things like that. And our world is not exactly the real world, but it's
01:29kind of like the real world in the 1850s. And those kind of places are what Karnaka represents.
01:36It's so lush and there's so many trees and so much more to do there, it looks like. Is
01:41that intentional?
01:42Yeah. Our art director is Sébastien Metton, and he has an amazing team. Damien Laurent is
01:48is our lead architect. Jean-Luc Monet is our assistant art director. Those guys are a powerful
01:54group of artists. And so when we bring game systems and level design and narrative stuff
02:00to the table, they bring as much from their side. And so early on, they had a strong vision
02:07for what the flora and fauna from Karnaka would be and how it would feel different than the chilly,
02:14cold, British nature of Dunwall. We didn't see any rats there, though. I mean, but we did see
02:21some really icky bugs. Yeah. So these are blood flies. They nest in corpses. And the more corpses there
02:29are, the more blood flies there are. And they hover in a swarm around their nests or around
02:34the corpses. And if you get too close to them, you can sneak if you're near them and move slowly
02:39and you won't disturb them. If you get too close, they attack you. But it's a dynamic system. This
02:45is something Dinga, again, Dinga Bakaba, our lead designer and I worked out, where with our game
02:51design team, if you kill somebody and you leave the body behind and a blood fly finds it, they lay
02:56eggs
02:57in the body and another swarm of blood flies eventually will hatch out of the body. So you
03:02have another environmental hazard. So it's dynamic. You're encouraged to take the body and deal with it.
