02:11Some of them is that we track the number of deaths and the innocents that the player

02:19And this derives the ending, but also derives some of the little story beats all along the
02:24game.
02:25And besides, playing this way is actually very consuming in terms of resource.
02:28So, the player uses those resources like powers and his mana and his hell potions and he has
02:35to use them carefully.
02:52So, here the player has stopped time just before the guards have fired their pistols.
02:56And he's planting a spring razor there.
02:58When time resumes, it will kill them both.
03:17The game's combat with the sword, the melee combat, involves blocking and counter attacks
03:21if the blocking is timed correctly.

03:31I'll have you ripped and put to work in the...
03:39So, both targets have been assassinated.

04:26The player is summoning rats.
04:28Once the rats are in the world, they're like little AIs.
04:31So, sometimes the guards win, sometimes the rats win.
04:34And here the player has possessed one of his own rats and is now getting away.
04:46And that's the end of the violent mess he played through with the golden cat.
05:01So, this is a very different area.
05:02The previous area with posh and pretty, this is like desolated, abandoned.
05:07This is actually the area where there are whippers.
05:10It's called a flooded district.
05:12And there are the stall boys here that are preventing the whippers.
05:16The whippers are the plague-infected people.
05:18The stall boys, their job is to prevent them from accessing the rich area.
05:23So, they will shoot at the whippers and they will shoot at anything that tries to get through, including the
05:29player.

06:07Here we're using Wind Blast to bounce back the arrows at the Tomboy.
06:19Using Wind Blast to knock the Tallboys' Phosphorescent Arrows back at them
06:23is another combination of game mechanics that we did not plan for,
06:27but players found it quite fun.
06:28So we made some small changes to help support it.
06:44These Stilt Walker guards, the Tallboys as they're called,
06:47have vulnerable tanks of whale oil on their backs
06:51that they use for their incendiary arrows.
06:55And so periodically the player is shooting at those tanks,
06:58stopping time, trying to get behind them.
07:01The shields all around them are actual breakable wooden shields,
07:05so they absorb some of the player's shots,
07:07but periodically the player breaks one of them off.
07:13Here the player just possessed a Tallboy,
07:15and he's going to escape the area through those wall of lights here via Tallboy.
07:21So the wall of light is a Tesla-like security device
07:25that's a powerful electrical field,
07:27and the guards at the beginning of their shift are attuned to it
07:30so they can walk through it,
07:31but the player cannot unless he hacks it.
