00:01Young men from across Merseyside have come together to take part in an event aimed at tackling violence against women

00:08Hosted by Merseyside Police in partnership with the LFC Foundation, the session followed a similar event for girls
00:15and forms part of a broader campaign in which all secondary school students in the region receive presentations during their
00:22PHSE lessons.
00:23The day included interactive workshops on healthy relationships, consent, managing anger, peer pressure, bystander awareness and online behaviour.
00:33High-profile guests including former boxer Tony Bellew and actor Jack McMullen from This City Is Ours,
00:39Faye Smith, Safer Schools Coordinator at Merseyside Police, said the sessions aim to help boys understand what constitutes acceptable behaviour,
00:49particularly regarding abusive or misogynistic actions.
00:53Matt Parrish, CEO of LFC Foundation, added that educating young men is vital
00:58and the foundation's youth interventions team continues to support young people across the Liverpool City region
01:04in having open conversations about these issues.
01:07Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell emphasised that early engagement helps prevent harmful attitudes from taking root
01:14and promotes a culture where women and girls feel safer.
