00:01A youth organisation with more than a century of history has been awarded the
00:05Freedom of Liverpool. The Girls Brigade of England and Wales supports girls and
00:09young women aged 4 to 18. They have around 150 members in the city and the
00:15oldest of the groups currently running began in 1948. The Lord Mayor says the
00:21award recognises decades of service and the impact on young people. The charity
00:26also works with boys where there is limited provision and runs weekly groups,
00:30camps and online sessions. Its chief executive says long-serving volunteers
00:34reflect the lasting difference the organisation makes across communities in
00:39Liverpool and beyond in the city.
