00:01Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council have launched nine Halo points across Liverpool's
00:07city centre aimed at tackling violence against women and girls. The clearly marked safe spaces
00:12form part of Operation Halo and offer direct emergency contact, CCTV links and immediate
00:18support for anyone feeling vulnerable during a night out. The scheme builds on the introduction
00:23of trained violence against women and girls champions working across venues in the city's
00:28nighttime economy. Police say that the locations were identified following a risk assessment,
00:34highlighting busy nightlife areas as high-risk locations.
00:38The project is funded through the Home Office Hyperlocal Policing Fund.
