00:00They claim it's his buildup is behind the other starters, so he's behind.
00:03At this point in time, he was pitching for Team Venezuela.
00:05He's not pitching well.
00:06So already they're managing him to a degree.
00:08Is that a concern?
00:09I think it has to be on the list for sure.
00:11Not going to freak out just yet.
00:12It's not like he's starting the year on the shelf or anything like that.
00:15He's just starting the fifth start.
00:16You're not even really skipping him, right?
00:18Because he didn't know what the order was going to be.
00:20We assumed he'd be in there.
00:21But if he's getting one of the first five starts, I'm not going to be overly concerned.
00:26Because the reality is the second they acquired him, you're like, oh, he's really good in the postseason.
00:31Let's dig into his stats and his career.
00:34He misses starts every year.
00:36He misses four or five starts every single year.
00:39I don't think he's ever made 30 starts in a season.
00:41And he also kind of breaks down in September.
00:44He's good in October, but he kind of breaks down end of the year.
00:46And so I'll take everybody involved, Andrew Bailey and Cora and everybody that's involved with the pitching staff.
00:54And if they're like, all right, how do we maximize this guy?
00:56How do we make it so he does make 30 starts for the first time in his career?
01:01And if they see something early, there's no sense in the insanely long season that is Major League Baseball to,
01:07like, rush the guy at any point.
01:08So if they're like, hey, he's making these starts so far in the spring.
01:11We feel like he's not exactly ready to go full go on game two when they play Cincinnati on, what,
01:20a week from Saturday?
01:21Like, they're like, hey, we're not ready for that.
01:22That's fine.
01:24Have him come back.
01:25He's still going to be pitching.
01:25If he pitches the fifth game of the season, it's March 31st.
01:29So it's still not even April.
01:30No, it's not even April.
01:31So I'm okay with it.
01:32But, yeah, I think it's fair to have an eyebrow raise.
01:34I just think they're all – and maybe it's a good plan, but I just think it's proof they're already
01:38kind of managing him to a degree.
01:41Because I thought he'd be the second starter.
01:42And so I thought it was odd already when they announced Sonny Gray, the Lorax, is going to be the
01:47number two starter.
01:48But then I'm like, okay, well, they're probably just splitting up the lefties.
01:51Now the lefties aren't split up at all.
01:52It's going to go Suarez crochet once you get through the rotation one time.
01:56So it wasn't that at all.
01:57It's really about managing him, which might be smart, and it might work out long term.
02:01But I think it's evidence that's what they're doing.
