Trascrizione
00:02We're going to do another demo for the Elder Scrolls Legends.
00:05I'm Pete, Kevin Spack, one of the designers on Elder Scrolls Legends.
00:10Good morning.
00:11Creative Director at Direwolf Digital, Paul Denon, is over there,
00:14and his screen will be the one that you're watching.
00:16I'm going to choose this Red Guard deck that's themed around items
00:22and kind of making these ultimate swordsman units.
00:25All right, so War Swords, and Kevin?
00:28I think I'll take a turn with the Dragon Storm deck.
00:33I'll jump in with that one.
00:37So this is versus battle.
00:39This is one of the three different ways that you can play the game.
00:43Battle mode, we have a full story campaign,
00:46and then there's also an arena mode.
00:51We had a question, Pete.
00:52Is this coming out on mobile?
00:54Right now we're announced for PC and iPad only.
00:58We have been looking into other platforms,
01:00but nothing we can share just yet.
01:05So as Paul said, he's playing a red-blue deck that cares about Red Guards.
01:10There's one of his Red Guards here,
01:12and Red Guards, given their love for weapons,
01:16are going to have additional buffs any time you put an equipment on them.
01:24So there's a number of items he's got in his hand.
01:27So here I don't really want to play to the left lane.
01:31Because Kevin's creature could easily get buffed up.
01:33Paul's going to put him over in the shadow lane
01:35where it's going to be safe for a turn
01:37until he can start putting some of those items on it.
01:46Now, I'm pretty afraid
01:48that Paul is going to drop an item on this guy.
01:53And yet, I'm going to put a guard there.
01:57Maybe I don't have an item.
01:59Hey, Kevin.
02:00Stranger things have happened.
02:01Hey, Kevin, he has an item.
02:03Ah!
02:07So that's going to become large real quick.
02:10It's going to take out Kevin's guard
02:11and deal some additional damage to Kevin
02:13because of its breakthrough ability.
02:17There's more to come.
02:20The waters are lying.
02:28Oh.
02:29So I just played the Tree Minder.
02:31That's part of our Argonian strategy.
02:33It boosts my Magicka permanently.
02:36Kind of the theory,
02:38the flavor is that the Argonians
02:40harness the power of the Hiss
02:41to ramp you to bigger stuff.
02:44So this deck is all about hitting the late game,
02:46hitting big bombs.
02:48Or even just...
02:49That innocuous little one-two
02:50is actually a pretty powerful card.
02:52Argonians also have some low, cheap creatures
02:54that get better
02:55once you get to higher amounts of Magicka as well.
02:57So you're playing big stuff
02:58and you're making your little guys
03:00even bigger than they were
03:01when they started the game.
03:02Yep.
03:06So Paul is clearly on the offensive tier.
03:08He's got to...
03:09Oh.
03:11That was unfortunate.
03:14I still think you're going to be okay
03:15because you're going to start picking up stuff here
03:17left and right.
03:18That Drez tormentor,
03:21if you've got any way to start shackling stuff,
03:24is going to get real ugly real quick.
03:28I say yes.
03:31Yeah, I actually think I'm going to use this now
03:33before the Crystal Tower Crafter gets any bigger.
03:36Yep.
03:37You could also throw the mace on there, I guess.
03:39I could.
03:43Two for one seems good.
03:44Yeah, two for one is hard to turn down.
03:48So Paul's going to shackle all of Kevin's creatures.
03:51Each of them is going to take three damage
03:52off the ability from the Tormentor.
03:56and once again,
03:57Paul just stays on the front foot
03:58and keeps attacking.
04:01You won't escape alive.
04:13So, I need one more attack here
04:15to take out the guard.
04:16Fortunately, I've got this little guy.
04:18I really like this card.
04:20It's a one-drop, two-one,
04:22that creates a dagger in your hand.
04:25So, nice way to buff some creatures.
04:33Here's another Breton.
04:36One of the things that you see a lot on Bretons
04:39is this ability around Ward.
04:41You want to talk a little bit about Ward, Paul,
04:43and what Ward does?
04:46Or what it did before it got silenced?
04:55Kevin shut down my Ward plan.
05:03Bretons are big fans of using magic
05:05and Ward is basically an ability
05:07that allows them to protect themselves
05:10from the first damage
05:11that they would take from anything.
05:14Once again, Paul's going to keep shackling things
05:16and dealing damage to it
05:18and keep the board clear.
05:19All right, I don't like the way this is looking.
05:21I think it's time,
05:23speaking of keeping the board clear.
05:30Kevin, playing that Dragonstorm deck,
05:32is now starting to creep up
05:33into the dangerous range
05:34where he's getting into
05:36the ability to cast some really large things
05:38that have game-breaking potential.
05:41So, I'm going to cast my own
05:42pretty big thing here.
05:43The Hrothgar Forge
05:45lets me get a random creature
05:47on the first...
05:49a random item on the first creature
05:51I summon every turn.
05:52It's a four card.
05:54And I'm going to go ahead
05:55and play this scout
05:58even though I don't really need to
05:59because I just want the random item.
06:02So, I've got a Dagger of Pain on it.
06:13Question is,
06:14what is Kevin doing over there?
06:16We can live with that.
06:22And you can live with that.
06:33So, for anybody who couldn't follow that,
06:35I used Soul Split.
06:37That's one of our cards
06:37that sacrifices creatures.
06:40It's designed to kind of go
06:41with the Last Gasp theme.
06:43Last Gasp's our ability
06:44that trigger on death.
06:46So, I have a Haunting Spirit.
06:48When it died,
06:49it gave one of my creatures
06:49plus three plus three.
06:51Sacked that to the Soul Split.
06:53Got myself a little...
06:55a little something going here.
06:57So, I'm going to play
06:58a Student of Arms
06:59that will take back
07:00the highest cost item
07:01from my discard pile
07:02when I play it.
07:03It's also going to get
07:04a random item from the Forge.
07:06I will learn by doing.
07:09So, I got back
07:10the Shackle item.
07:13so, I'm going to go ahead
07:14and Shackle this.
07:18I also got a Mentor's Ring
07:20giving it another
07:21plus two, plus two.
07:23Fire!
07:27And the reason I did that
07:28is because I have a cast out
07:29to bounce this guy back.
07:36So, Paul's got Lethal
07:38on the board.
07:39Kevin's only at seven life.
07:42Paul's got a big eight...
07:43Well, Paul had a big
07:44eight-seven over there
07:45that's just been
07:46turned into a two-two mummy.
08:07Alright, let's see
08:08what the Forge will give me.
08:14I got armor.
08:15Okay.
08:19Hmm.
08:23Paul not necessarily
08:24in danger of dying
08:26on his next turn.
08:27He's still at 20.
08:28He's going to draw
08:29a number of cards
08:30when his runes get broken.
08:34But right now,
08:35he's really trying to figure out
08:36how to punch through
08:36that last few points
08:37of damage.
08:38Oh!
08:43not going to attack
08:44with the mummy
08:44and just pass the turn
08:45back to Kevin.
08:46So, once again,
08:47Kevin's looking at it
08:49lethal in the left-hand lane
08:50there that he's got
08:51to deal with
08:52or die on his next turn.
08:54Luckily, I have a friend.
08:55Your storm is over.
08:57My friend's name
08:57is Odeving.
09:02And as they do,
09:03dragons come
09:04and blow up
09:05lots of things.
09:05under the road.
09:14Oh, no.
09:15Oh, no.
09:15Oh, this is so good.
09:18Because I get
09:19the Forge item on him.
09:24Oh.
09:26I'm dead.
09:26I knew I shouldn't
09:27have attacked you right there.
09:29So, Kevin just gave us
09:31a very good example
09:32of why you don't
09:33always attack
09:34even though you can't.
09:35Because by breaking
09:36Paul's rune,
09:36he just gave Paul
09:37an extra card
09:38which he got to play
09:39for free
09:40which took
09:41a very likely loss
09:43and turned it
09:44into a win for Paul.
09:45Oh, don't speak too soon.
09:48Oh, nice.
09:50There's always prophecies.
09:52There's always prophecies.
09:54Fair play.
09:55And, uh...
09:55I hear.
09:56I have my own harpy.
09:58for your dragon.
09:59Get that dragon
10:00and sit still.
10:02This is gonna be close.
10:06Kevin can still
10:07hit for six.
10:10The question is
10:11what has he got to do
10:12to deal with
10:14those three creatures
10:14on the left side?
10:18Uh...
10:21No.
10:23Nice.
10:24Well, that's enough
10:25to keep him from dying,
10:26in, I think.
10:29Oh, you're giving me
10:30the premature good game.
10:31Oh.
10:33The premature good game.
10:34I didn't give you
10:35a good game.
10:36I said nice play.
10:39Mummy, mummy.
10:43So, Kevin once again
10:44stabilizes
10:45by getting two guards
10:46over in that left lane
10:47that have to be dealt with.
10:49All right.
10:49I've got to draw a card here.
10:50Hope for something good.
10:53Oh, interesting.
10:54Oh, interesting.
10:55Wait, what does that do?
10:56A stone throw.
10:58Destroy an enemy creature
10:59if I have a creature
11:00with higher power.
11:01So, let's see.
11:02Your guard.
11:05Your other guard.
11:08And your face.
11:09Excellent game, guys.
11:11That was super close.
11:13Well done.
11:15Well fought.
11:16Good game, Kevin.
11:17Good game.
11:18So, there you go.
11:19A couple of good
11:21close matches.
11:21Boy, at the end
11:22the prophecy cards
11:23were keeping both of you
11:24from dying back and forth.
11:25So, that's a look
11:26at the Elder Scrolls Legends.
11:27As we said,
11:27it's currently in closed beta
11:29and we are taking sign-ups.
11:31Over here to your right
11:32we have folks
11:33have a chance
11:34to put their hands on the game.
11:35Sign up for beta.
11:36Get a t-shirt
11:37and hopefully we'll see you
11:38in the game.
11:39You can help us
11:40test it and prove it
11:40and give Kevin and Paul here
11:42and the rest of the design team
11:44feedback on
11:45how to make it better.
11:47Guys, thanks very much.
11:48Thanks, Pete.
11:48Well done.
11:54So, we're watching
11:55Paul's screen
11:56up on the big monitor
11:58and now it's
11:59and Paul is going to decide
12:00what he wants to keep
12:02what he wants to throw back.
12:05I'm going to keep this Khajiit.
12:07Yeah, that's a good one.
12:08That's a good one.
12:10So, Paul's fishing
12:11for some cheaper cards
12:12and he gets there.
12:16I got nothing to do.
12:17I'm passing.
12:18Now, because Paul is going second
12:20he has the Elixir of Magicka.
12:22That means he can use that
12:23three times per game
12:24to give him a little
12:25extra Magicka for the turn.
12:27So, he's going to use that
12:29to play the Goblin Sneak.
12:31The Goblin Skulk.
12:38So, the Khajiit deck is based
12:40around the Pilfer mechanic.
12:41That means that whenever
12:43Paul's cards hit Pete
12:45he's going to get a bonus
12:46from him.
12:49So, I'm going to go ahead
12:50and see what I get here.
12:52Zero cost card for my deck.
12:54All right.
12:55That's not a bad one.
12:58I'm going to pop the Magicka
13:00Elixir again.
13:03Play a guard.
13:04Uh-oh.
13:05So, as you can see
13:06in this game
13:07we have two lanes.
13:08Whenever you play a creature
13:09you have to decide
13:10which lane you want
13:11to put it in.
13:12It adds to little
13:13tactics on the battlefield.
13:14so, Paul wanted to
13:15block Pete's
13:17uh
13:18Groove of Profiteer there
13:19so he
13:20put a guard
13:21in the same lane.
13:22But if he wanted to
13:23avoid it
13:23he could have put it
13:24in the other lane.
13:34Here's the card
13:35I drew last turn.
13:37Oh, man.
13:40This guard
13:41has Pilfer
13:42and allows him
13:42to switch lanes
13:43when he pilfers
13:44which is nice
13:44because I can
13:45protect my Goblin Skulk.
13:51The Goblin Skulk
13:52ability is that
13:53every time
13:53it hits
13:54the opponent
13:55Paul gets to
13:56draw a zero cost
13:57card from his deck.
14:01Uh, now he's
14:02set myself up
14:03for next turn.
14:04Oh, great.
14:07So, Paul
14:08why don't you
14:08mouse over
14:09that bad boy?
14:11Find Fervor time.
14:13Oh, so Pete
14:14has just dropped
14:15a big time support.
14:17This is Divine
14:18Fervor.
14:19So one of the card
14:19types that's
14:20pretty important
14:21in our game
14:21are supports.
14:22You can play
14:23these to the battlefield
14:24they just hang out
14:25providing an ongoing
14:26bonus.
14:26So for the rest
14:27of the game
14:27all of Pete's
14:29creatures are going
14:29to be bigger
14:30because of that
14:30Divine Fervor.
14:33Paul's about to get
14:34a lot of pilfer hits
14:35in here.
14:36especially if he
14:37plays that guy.
14:38Yeah, the Master
14:39of Thieves is going
14:39to enter the field.
14:40Oh, good.
14:41This allows my
14:42pilfer creatures to
14:43attack an additional
14:44time each turn.
14:46So, so far I feel
14:48like this is going
14:48really well for me,
14:49Kevin.
14:50I'm going to take
14:51care of your
14:52creature here first.
15:13This is quite the
15:14combo.
15:15Yeah.
15:15This is not looking
15:16good for Pete here,
15:17but thanks to the
15:18rune mechanic,
15:19Pete did just draw
15:19a ton of cards
15:20and he does have
15:22that support in play,
15:22so maybe you can
15:23make a comeback.
15:24What do you got,
15:25Pete?
15:25Do I need to be
15:26here for this?
15:30What do I have?
15:31I have no good
15:32answers to a 5-5
15:34that's attacking me
15:35multiple times.
15:38Or a 2-2 that can
15:39hit me twice and
15:40keep drawing.
15:52I can do that.
15:59I'm not going to be
16:00able to hit that.
16:04So joining us on the
16:06stage, we have
16:06Magic Pro Frank Lepore.
16:09Frank, what has
16:10Pete got in his
16:11hand here?
16:11It's not looking
16:12good.
16:14Nothing that's
16:15going to save me.
16:18Are you dead this
16:19turn?
16:19It looks like he
16:20might be dead.
16:23Good hope to draw
16:24a prophecy.
16:26Pete looks like he
16:27might be dead.
16:28This is looking very
16:29dead.
16:30If he wasn't
16:31attacking, if Paul
16:32wasn't attacking twice
16:33with each creature, it
16:34might be a different
16:34story.
16:35But he is.
16:36But he is.
16:39Yeah, this is just a
16:41very tough combo to
16:42stop because this
16:43Tenmar Swift Claw just
16:45gets out of hand with
16:45the Master of Thieves.
16:47It's almost like these
16:48cats are from the same
16:48litter.
16:49So that shows that
16:50games can go very
16:51quickly in Elder
16:52Scrolls Legends.
16:52Wow, that was
16:54something.
16:54When a combo deck
16:54goes off.
16:55A five-turn kill.
16:56Can you still feel
16:56all your limbs, Pete?
16:58No.
17:00On the bright side, you
17:01can now sign up for
17:02the beta.
17:03Yep, as you can see
17:04here, we are in
17:05closed beta now.
17:06If you head on over
17:08there, you can demo
17:08the game and you can
17:09sign up for the beta
17:10and hopefully we can
17:11get you in soon.
17:13So what do you say
17:14about a rematch, guys?
17:15Two different decks?
17:16Two different decks.
17:17Yeah, I'm going to
17:17switch up to War
17:19Swords, Paul.
17:21You're doing War
17:22Swords?
17:22Yeah, I'm going to
17:23try War Swords.
17:23Okay, I'll go to
17:24Dragon Storm.
17:25I'm a fan of
17:25War Swords.
17:28So Paul is piloting
17:32our control deck.
17:33It's an intelligence
17:34endurance archetype
17:35hoping to go big,
17:37play big stuff.
17:39There's a lot of
17:39equipment in Pete's
17:41deck.
17:41Typically in card
17:43games, when you have
17:43decks with a lot of
17:44equipment, you run the
17:46risk of getting two
17:46for one, which means
17:47they use one of their
17:48cards to get rid of
17:49two of yours.
17:50But the War Swords
17:51deck actually has a lot
17:51of ways to get card
17:52advantage.
17:56So Paul is sending
17:57away a couple
17:58expensive cards.
18:00Now he has some
18:01good cheap ones
18:02showing off our
18:03Dark Elf mechanic
18:04and our Argodian
18:05mechanic.
18:07Pete actually likes
18:08his hand.
18:08I think we're going
18:09that into that.
18:17and Pete kicks
18:18things off with a
18:19fiery imp.
18:20It only has a
18:211-1 body, but when
18:22it attacks, it deals
18:23extra damage.
18:24Plays a little like a
18:243-1.
18:25Thankfully, in the
18:26War Swords deck, he
18:27probably won't be a
18:281-1 for too long.
18:30Pete has a lot of
18:30equipment to throw
18:31onto this guy.
18:47I'm actually thinking
18:48of putting that on
18:49there.
18:49Is that stupid?
18:54Now Pete can't
18:55attack Paul's
18:56Argonian because
18:57that Argonian is in
18:58the cover lane.
18:59That's the mechanic
19:00we have where
19:01if you play a
19:02creature to the
19:03cover lane, it
19:04can't be attacked
19:04for one turn.
19:06Oh, that's not
19:07good for you, Paul.
19:08Pete put a little
19:08shield on this guy,
19:09so now the fire
19:10amp is a 1-4 instead
19:11of a 1-1.
19:13Which means Paul
19:14can't play the cards
19:15he may or may not
19:16have in his hand
19:16that could answer
19:17it.
19:18He still can.
19:19Paul has cards
19:20in his hand that
19:20would have answered
19:21it.
19:22Yeah, I think I
19:23better take care of
19:24this problem now.
19:28The old fire bolt,
19:29a classic.
19:35So the board is
19:37relatively clear,
19:38which is good for
19:39Paul.
19:40That's disappointing.
19:42Just a bunch of
19:42tiny guys for Pete
19:43over here.
19:46Oh, Paul has a
19:47great combination in
19:48his hand.
19:50I might wait until
19:51next turn to play
19:52that combo.
19:53Yeah, that's
19:54perfectly reasonable
19:54because the far run
19:55defender is going to
19:56do some work here.
19:57Yeah, I've got to
19:58protect myself.
19:59Oh, a 1-4 is a
20:01pretty good defense
20:03against Pete's 1-1.
20:04Oh, there we go.
20:06That's what I'm
20:06talking about right
20:07there.
20:09I see what you got
20:12cooking.
20:13I think either.
20:14I'll put it on the
20:14right side so that you
20:17can kill this guy.
20:18Yeah.
20:19All right, I'm going
20:20to do that.
20:21I'm going to do that.
20:22Oh.
20:23Pete and I talking
20:23secret strategies over
20:25here that you guys
20:25can't see.
20:26So Pete has dropped
20:27the Drez tormentor.
20:28This is one of our
20:30build arounds.
20:31It's really fun to use
20:32in Arena.
20:34When you shackle a guy,
20:35he deals damage to it.
20:39Yeah, right?
20:42Shackle all the things.
20:44Give me something to
20:45shackle, Paul.
20:46Paul, play something.
20:47Play a creature.
20:48All right, how about
20:49this creature?
20:52Actually, you want to
20:53explain this, Kevin?
20:54Actually, yeah.
20:55I am going to actually
20:56do that.
20:58So Paul, why don't you
20:58tell us a little about
20:59that creature?
21:00Sure.
21:00This is the Balbora
21:01Spymaster.
21:02It's a dark elf that
21:03has a special ability.
21:03When it dies, it will
21:04become a random creature
21:07with the strength of
21:09approximately the level
21:11of the game we're at.
21:13So we're pretty early
21:13in the game right now,
21:14so I'm not likely to
21:15get a great creature.
21:17But I also have this
21:18soul split card that
21:19can sacrifice a creature
21:20to summon a 3-2 shade
21:22in each lane.
21:22So I'm going to get
21:23three creatures out of
21:24this, so I'm going to
21:24go ahead and do it.
21:25Paul's giving us
21:26secrets.
21:28All right, so the
21:29random creature I got
21:30is a pretty good one.
21:31Oh, yes.
21:31Oh, really?
21:32That's a 3-5 lethal.
21:34That means anything it
21:35touches is going to die.
21:36I don't think we're
21:37worried about that.
21:38I don't know if I can
21:39calculate how much value
21:40that was.
21:40I think we're going to
21:41do this.
21:46But who do we shackle?
21:49So, Paul, why don't you
21:50mouse over that harpy?
21:52So this harpy is going to
21:55let Pete shackle a creature.
21:58And thanks to Sky Master,
22:00that's going to do some
22:01damage.
22:02Or tormentor.
22:03Shut that down, I think,
22:04maybe.
22:06and then we get to
22:07silence the lethal
22:09creature so that it's
22:10not as lethal in life.
22:11Ah!
22:16Unfortunately, we don't
22:17have many cards in our
22:18hand, Pete and I.
22:22I have to stop these
22:24shenanigans from the
22:25Dress Tormentor.
22:26I'm going to mummify
22:27him.
22:28Oh.
22:29Yeah, that's always so
22:30rude every time.
22:33Be on your card.
22:34That's unfortunate.
22:37I think I probably...
22:38Well, or I can do that.
22:40Except...
22:42That doesn't really
22:43help, does it?
22:44I think I'm better off
22:44going there because I
22:45can two for one.
22:46Right?
22:47The problem is this
22:48three-three and this
22:48two-four.
22:50Well, there are many
22:51problems.
22:51It starts with the...
22:53There are many
22:54problems.
22:57I wish we had more
22:58cards, really.
22:59That's what it comes
22:59down to.
23:01Come at me, bro.
23:04I'm going to shut
23:05down this horseman
23:05before it can get a
23:06weapon.
23:09I feel like the
23:10board's pretty even
23:10now, at least.
23:11Well, except that
23:12Paul's got way more
23:13in his hand than I
23:13do.
23:14Right.
23:14That would be the
23:15only...
23:17That's a...
23:18So, Paul silenced
23:19the harpy.
23:20That removes any
23:20special effects that
23:21were on it, which
23:23meant that instead of
23:24being a four-two,
23:25it's a two-two.
23:25Oh, well, it could
23:26be worse.
23:26So, it's three-three
23:27could eat it.
23:27It could.
23:28I guess I go here
23:28with that.
23:29Yeah.
23:34surprisingly reasonable
23:35there.
23:35A one-one that
23:36deals one damage
23:37when it comes into
23:37play.
23:38Of course, the
23:39longer the game
23:39goes on, the
23:40better it is for
23:41Paul, because
23:42Paul's deck has
23:43lots of gigantic
23:44creatures in it,
23:46like one he may or
23:47may not have just
23:47drawn.
23:49Spoiler alert.
23:56Paul, did you just
23:57troll us?
23:58A little.
24:01I actually might
24:02sit on that.
24:02The taunts are
24:03real.
24:04Yeah, I think we
24:04just hold this card.
24:07All right, this is
24:08what I've been
24:08waiting for.
24:10Something that just
24:11kind of bumps up my
24:12magicka.
24:13This guy gives me
24:14plus one max magicka
24:15for the rest of the
24:16game.
24:18He's playing
24:18this something at
24:1910.
24:19Yeah, he's
24:20getting up to 10
24:21right now.
24:23I think we've got to
24:24hold that.
24:27I have a feeling I'm
24:28not going to be able
24:29to.
24:29Oh, I have a feeling
24:30we're not going to
24:30actually get the,
24:31yeah, that's a good
24:31point.
24:33So stone, that only
24:34kills a guy if you
24:35have a creature with
24:36a greater power, and I
24:37doubt that's going to
24:38be the case next turn.
24:40You guys in the
24:40audience know better
24:41than we do, though.
24:43Anybody want to tell
24:44me what Paul's sitting
24:44on over there?
24:48Any spymasters out
24:49there?
24:54I am trying to play
24:56to my outs at this
24:57point and get
24:58something better than
24:58what I have in my
24:59game.
25:02All right.
25:03Also not, also not
25:04incredibly huge.
25:06Paul is being cagey.
25:07That seemed good.
25:12I will learn by you.
25:17Nice.
25:18Yeah.
25:18Ah.
25:20So Pete just played
25:21a Master of Arms.
25:22This is, again, part of
25:24our Red Guard item
25:24theme.
25:25It got the best item in
25:27Pete's discard pile back
25:29and equipped it to it
25:29for free.
25:33I'm not sure where to
25:33throw that.
25:34I think we've got to
25:35hold that right now.
25:37I'm going to hold that
25:37and I might throw that
25:39out there.
25:43and again, it might
25:44look like not much is
25:44going on here, but the
25:45longer something doesn't
25:46go on, the better it is
25:47for Paul because he wants
25:50this game to go as long
25:51as possible.
25:51I'm aware of that.
25:55Every time Kevin
25:56mentions it, it's like a
25:57dagger in Pete's heart.
25:58Like a steel dagger.
25:59Like a steel dagger.
26:01Like a plus one plus
26:01high steel dagger.
26:02You know, I think I'm
26:03going to hold off on
26:04this.
26:04I'm pretty sure in Paul's
26:06deck that 11 Magicka is
26:07not good news for me.
26:09A little Elder Scrolls
26:09Legends humor there.
26:11What has he got over
26:11there?
26:14You have more patience
26:16than I.
26:19Well, Paul is a doctor.
26:20Wow.
26:23I have a bad hand,
26:24Pete.
26:25I've got nothing.
26:26Has he just been
26:28bluffing us this whole
26:29time?
26:29He is being cagey
26:31over there.
26:33I don't like it at all.
26:37He's just waiting for us
26:38to throw away all our
26:38cards.
26:41Oh, so Paul's just
26:42drawn a prophecy.
26:44What this is, is
26:45whenever you take
26:46damage in this game,
26:47you lose a rune,
26:48you get to draw a
26:49card.
26:49If you draw a card
26:51with prophecy like this
26:52one, you get to play
26:52it immediately for free.
26:54It has been foretold.
26:55Which Paul will do.
26:57Wiping out some
26:58creatures there.
27:00All right.
27:00Do I wait on this
27:02at this point, or do I
27:03go?
27:04I'm going to wait.
27:05Okay.
27:06At this point, I'm
27:07waiting to see what
27:07massive thing he's
27:08playing.
27:09He's either at his
27:10max magick at this
27:11point.
27:13And it's worth noting
27:15that 12 is the lucky
27:16number for Paul, so I
27:17I think neither Pete
27:19nor myself would be
27:20surprised if something
27:21humongous came down.
27:22I was hoping Pete would
27:23drop a couple more
27:23creatures, but since he
27:25was wise enough to
27:26hold back.
27:27Yeah.
27:28I'm doing that into
27:28that.
27:29A dragon priest will
27:30arrive and summon.
27:31Do you have a dragon
27:31to play with your
27:32dragon priest?
27:32Oh, yes, I have a
27:33dragon.
27:34Oh, wow.
27:35Yep.
27:35That's pretty good.
27:37Oh.
27:39This is the kind of
27:40thing that friendship's
27:40I have a brilliant
27:41experiment for two
27:42mana I can copy a
27:43creature.
27:49Wow.
27:50So Pete seems good.
27:51All right, then.
27:53So Pete now knows Paul
27:54has another ridiculous
27:55world-destroying dragon in
27:57his hand.
27:58I do know that.
28:00Yeah, so the thing
28:01about that, Paul, is
28:02that we can shackle that
28:03guy for one turn, so I...
28:04Yeah, I can shackle him
28:06and then he plays
28:06another one.
28:08Yeah, but it's a moral
28:10victory.
28:13All right, at this
28:14point, moral victory is
28:15the only victory I'm
28:16getting, so...
28:19It's not worth that.
28:22So Pete has shackled
28:24the giant dragon.
28:25That means the dragon
28:25cannot attack next turn,
28:27but it's not a long-term
28:29solution to the problem.
28:30It is not.
28:39Apparently, when you
28:40play a 10 drop, a 12
28:41drop, and then another
28:4212 drop, you're in good
28:43shape.
28:44The cool thing about
28:44silence is you can also
28:46get rid of shackles.
28:48Oh!
28:51Which takes care of the
28:52problem.
28:52That was a tech play
28:53right there.
28:54I'm impressed.
28:55Well done, sir.
28:56Good game.
28:56I applaud you.
28:58Next level.
29:03All right, so...
29:08First thing you're going
29:10to do in any match is
29:11take a look at the cards
29:12that you've got in your
29:13opening hand to figure
29:14out what you want to
29:16keep.
29:16I think I'm going to
29:17pitch that.
29:18You don't want that
29:18seven Magicka card there?
29:20No, I think I need to
29:21start out a little
29:22cheaper.
29:23Paul's going first, so I
29:24get the elixir that says
29:25that I get during three
29:28different turns, I can
29:29spend, I can use this to
29:31give myself an extra
29:32Magicka, so it's a way
29:33to catch up from...
29:35Gives you a little bit
29:36of a tempo boost three
29:37different times, which is
29:38nice.
29:39What did Paul do?
29:41A lot of times going
29:41second is...
29:42Paul just used blackmail
29:43to copy, draw a copy of a
29:46random creature from my
29:47deck.
29:47Did you get anything good?
29:49Oh, yeah.
29:50Is there anything I need
29:50to be worried about?
29:51Oh, yeah.
29:52All right.
29:53So I got two options here,
29:55and I think I'm going
29:56to use my elixir and go
29:59ahead and play this
30:00daring cut purse.
30:01Paul might have been
30:02bluffing, just so you
30:02know.
30:03I'm just throwing that
30:04out there.
30:04He's been known to do
30:05that.
30:06I'm going to go ahead
30:06and get this guy out.
30:07I'm playing it over here
30:08in the right lane.
30:10Our board game is...
30:11Our board is divided
30:12into two lanes, left
30:13and right.
30:14Paul, do you want to
30:14talk a little bit about
30:16your decision to make
30:17a two-lane game and what
30:19that does from a design
30:20standpoint?
30:20Yeah, sure.
30:21It's a direct attacking
30:23game that plays really
30:25fast kinetically.
30:26You just swing away
30:28your opponent, but the
30:29battlefield is divided
30:30into two, which lets you
30:32avoid bad situations.
30:35So in this case here,
30:36I'm going to play my
30:373-2 to challenge your
30:39guy, but imagine I had
30:41a creature that I wanted
30:42to just survive for a
30:43while.
30:43I could just play it to
30:44the left side of the
30:45field.
30:45So basically, it prevents
30:47one creature from taking
30:48over and dominating the
30:50entire game because you
30:51drop a huge thing in one
30:52lane.
30:52you can always play your
30:53creatures in another.
30:55I'm pretty sure he just
30:56said he's not afraid of
30:57you.
30:57I think that's what I
30:58heard.
30:59Nor should he be, by
31:00the way.
31:01The problem is that
31:02creature will get out of
31:03hand if I don't challenge
31:04it.
31:04Agreed.
31:05Agreed.
31:05All right.
31:07I am going to go ahead
31:09and let him have that
31:10trade if he wants.
31:12I'm going to...
31:13One of the things that
31:15endurance cards do, so
31:16I'm playing agility and
31:18endurance.
31:19One of the things that
31:19endurance cards do is
31:20is ramped.
31:22Try and get you more
31:23magicka to get you to
31:24your higher power cards
31:25quicker.
31:26Yep.
31:26Definitely notice this.
31:28Definitely an aspect of
31:30the tribe.
31:31So this stream minder I
31:31cast is not a particularly
31:33great creature, but he
31:34does give me an extra
31:35magicka when he comes
31:36out of the battlefield.
31:38Which is huge, actually.
31:40That's a big bonus.
31:42Well...
31:43Ooh.
31:43That's a big dude.
31:44That's a thing.
31:47The funny part is Paul can
31:48actually see what we're
31:49talking about, so he just
31:50has to worry.
31:51You should be very
31:52worried, Paul.
31:53I'm worried.
31:54That's a super good card.
31:55And you can see the
31:56creature that I stole from
31:57you.
31:57All right.
31:58I'm going to go ahead and
31:59use my last elixir to put
32:01this guy out.
32:03Love this card because he
32:04can attack twice, so he's
32:05particularly good at taking
32:07a board state and getting
32:08rid of multiple creatures at
32:11once.
32:11Especially when your
32:11opponent's creatures are as
32:12small as Paul's are?
32:13Yes.
32:14No offense, Paul.
32:16He's got a couple of
32:17drain guys out, so he is
32:19going to be gaining a little
32:19life back.
32:20Oh, that's awkward.
32:21Oh, that was good.
32:22Oh, this...
32:23That is awkward.
32:24Yeah, this is actually
32:26pretty good.
32:26Because I can no longer
32:27kill this guy over here
32:29anymore because he has...
32:30But you're welcome to try.
32:32toughness of four.
32:35I'm definitely killing that,
32:37though.
32:41And...
32:42I don't know.
32:43What do you think, Frank?
32:44Do I...
32:45Do I this?
32:47I think it might be worth it
32:48just to clear his board.
32:49There's...
32:50There's a lot of times where
32:51I like to sit on that, so...
32:53Yeah, especially in case he
32:54has a bigger guy.
32:55It'll take any creature and
32:56turn it into a very boring
32:57two-two.
32:58But because of Paul's four
32:59card, it's a three-three.
33:00three, but I can still kill
33:01it at least.
33:02So I'm keeping him from
33:03being completely obnoxious.
33:06Paul, what's the name of
33:06that card?
33:07The support?
33:09It's Divine Fervor.
33:10Yeah, Divine Fervor has
33:11been very, very good every
33:12time I've seen it played.
33:15Especially because there's
33:15a lot of cards that can
33:16produce smaller guys.
33:17Oh, no!
33:20It's the Adoring Fan.
33:21The old Adoring Fan.
33:22He's actually going to
33:23fight now, too.
33:25From a flavor standpoint,
33:27one of the better cards
33:28in the game,
33:29and Paul, do you want
33:30to talk about how you
33:31actually acquire
33:32Adoring Fan and get him
33:35into your collection?
33:36Sure.
33:36The Adoring Fan is not
33:37found in card packs.
33:39The only way to get it
33:40is to actually defeat
33:41an arena.
33:42By being good at the arena,
33:44the fan will join you.
33:46What's your record for
33:47defeating the arena?
33:48Just like, it doesn't
33:49matter how many losses?
33:50Well, you'd have to face
33:52nine foes in a solo
33:55or seven in a versus.
33:57Okay.
33:57Good to know.
34:00So, you can play nine
34:01rounds in the arena,
34:02the solo arena,
34:02and you'll also get up
34:03to three losses, right?
34:05Right.
34:05So, even if you beat it
34:07with nine wins and two
34:08losses, you'll still get
34:09the Adoring Fan.
34:10Yep.
34:10I have a good guess
34:12what he's doing on his
34:13next turn.
34:16He's going to spawn out
34:17a bunch of...
34:18Well, when you first
34:18start the solo arena,
34:19you'll be at a lower
34:20difficulty level,
34:21and as you do well,
34:23you'll ascend in the
34:24ranks of the arena,
34:25and you'll get more
34:26challenging.
34:30You do have to save up
34:32gold, and you get a lot
34:32of good rewards from
34:33playing arena.
34:35Yeah, so the arenas
34:36typically cost about
34:36150 gold, so similar
34:39to other card games,
34:40the way you have to...
34:41You use the in-game
34:43currency to play for an
34:44arena.
34:44Uh-oh.
34:48Ooh, no grunts.
34:51Well, I thought for sure
34:52you had it.
34:53I would say two siege
34:55towers are better than
34:56one, but not really.
34:58Yeah, so now I really
35:00have...
35:00Uh-oh.
35:02Siege catapult?
35:03Siege catapult?
35:03Is that what it's
35:04called?
35:06The fact that he's
35:07thinking about casting
35:08it.
35:10Well, fortunately, it's
35:11not doing him any good,
35:12but he's filling up...
35:13Yet.
35:14He's filling up this
35:15lane so he can start
35:16swinging through with
35:16lots of things.
35:17Also, those are very
35:18big.
35:19six, six, and eight,
35:20eight.
35:20Ugh.
35:25Another one.
35:29Burning light?
35:30Yep.
35:33Well?
35:34Siege catapult.
35:36Okay.
35:37Yeah, so siege catapult
35:38says he can't attack
35:39unless it has a full
35:40lane, which is four
35:41characters, four
35:42creatures.
35:43So...
35:44But he's one creature
35:44away from filling up
35:47this lane.
35:47He's one creature away
35:48and there's literally
35:48nothing I can do
35:49about it.
35:51I think I just
35:54dropped...
35:54Yeah, that'll help
35:55you.
35:56Do I play that,
35:56Frank?
35:57I don't think it
35:57matters right now.
35:58Oh, oh.
36:02No, I can't.
36:04One of the things
36:06about...
36:06Oh, it has guard,
36:07Yeah, it's got guard.
36:07Oh, that's rough.
36:08Yeah, he buffed it
36:09with that ability
36:11off of this guy.
36:12Yeah, so guard means
36:13he just has to attack
36:14that.
36:14You have to attack a
36:15creature with guard
36:15before you can attack
36:16anything else.
36:17Yeah.
36:17So, when the
36:18Siege Catapult
36:18is an 8-8
36:19and has guard,
36:21Pete's not really
36:22getting through.
36:22No.
36:23And he's gonna...
36:24Yeah.
36:25Oh, it's getting
36:25worse.
36:26You know what's
36:27worse than one
36:288-8 with guard?
36:29Two 8-8s with guard.
36:30Two 8-8s with guard
36:31is worse.
36:33I noticed a little
36:34pattern on Paul's
36:34side of the board
36:35here.
36:35So, that comment
36:36I made before
36:37about lanes and
36:38allowing you to
36:39sort of move
36:40around your opponent
36:41when they're
36:42dominating the board,
36:42this would be
36:43that situation.
36:44See, on the
36:45bright side, though,
36:45Paul has no
36:46creatures on the
36:46right side.
36:47So, you really
36:47gotta look for the
36:48silver lining there,
36:49I think.
36:49And I'm down to
36:508 health.
36:51Oh, but look
36:51what I found.
36:52So, when you
36:53lose a rune...
36:54Not another
36:55burning light.
36:55If it's a prophecy,
36:56you can play it on
36:57the opponent's turn.
36:58I just hit a dark
36:59harvester, which is a
37:01really good card to
37:01hit at this point.
37:02Paul, how does it
37:03feel?
37:04Being this good.
37:05Oh, it feels so good.
37:06So good.
37:08So, I'm taking
37:098, 16, 19, 22 on
37:13the next turn.
37:14And, well, I'm
37:15taking 25 on the
37:16next turn.
37:17But you get to
37:17draw about four
37:18cards from all the
37:19rune breaks.
37:19Yay.
37:21I don't know what I
37:22do to not die here.
37:23I think I just
37:24throw this there.
37:26That poor mummy,
37:27he doesn't stand a
37:28chance.
37:28He is screwed,
37:30blued, and tattooed.
37:31All right.
37:32What do you got,
37:33Denon?
37:35Well, you got to
37:36use an 8, 8 to get
37:37rid of my mummy
37:37because you're not
37:38getting, well, you're
37:38not throwing away
37:39these two things.
37:40Sure, I could use
37:41an 8, 5, but I
37:42think you're right.
37:43Actually, you should
37:43attack first with
37:44that 3, 2, Paul.
37:48No, I don't think
37:48so.
37:51But you were close
37:52though, right?
37:52You almost fell for
37:53his wily tricks.
37:54I'm trying to bait
37:55him to attack with
37:56this thing because it
37:56would shut off both
37:57of his siege catapults
37:58because he wouldn't
37:59have enough creatures.
38:00He did not take
38:01the bait.
38:02Yeah, it's funny
38:02because when you put
38:03it that way, the
38:03siege catapults are
38:04actually pretty
38:04sensitive and that
38:05if you do get rid
38:06of the fourth
38:07creature, they
38:07can't attack.
38:10But I feel like
38:11at this point.
38:12Paul actually has
38:13an interesting
38:13decision here.
38:14He decided to
38:15go ahead and
38:15attack.
38:16There's lots of
38:16times where you
38:17would decide not
38:17to attack there
38:18because he's
38:19breaking a rune
38:20and giving me yet
38:21another card to
38:22draw.
38:23I'm going to do
38:24an unorthodox
38:25maneuver here.
38:27You're clearly
38:27a maniac.
38:28A creature to
38:29play a grim
38:30champion over here.
38:35This is how good
38:36Paul feels
38:37his board
38:37presence is.
38:37He's literally
38:38throwing guys
38:38away to play
38:39new guys.
38:41Holy Moses.
38:41Oh, well, that's
38:43a thing.
38:43Good luck, Pete.
38:44You got this, Pete.
38:44You got this.
38:48The Imperial Army
38:50is assembled.
38:51So close yet,
38:52so far.
38:53This is, by the
38:54way, if you're not
38:55familiar with
38:55strategy card games,
38:56this is what's
38:57known as being
38:57behind on board.
39:00It's also what's
39:01known as a
39:01blowout, ladies
39:02and gentlemen.
39:02He has eight
39:03and I have one
39:06and I, there's
39:07no, there's
39:08literally no way
39:09I'm getting out
39:10of this.
39:10But you do have
39:10more cards, which
39:11is important.
39:12Yeah, I'm going
39:12to die with a lot
39:13of cards is what
39:14that means.
39:15This is the old
39:16you can't take
39:16them with you.
39:17Yeah.
39:24Not going to help
39:25really.
39:26No, no, it's
39:26good.
39:26Still dies to
39:27either of these
39:28things quickly.
39:32So you might
39:32notice that only
39:33one of those
39:34catapults has to
39:34actually get
39:35through to Pete.
39:36Yeah.
39:37Let alone the
39:38other six guys on
39:39the board.
39:40I guess I do
39:41this and then I do
39:43this again to get
39:44rid of that.
39:46and then I
39:47just die.
39:48I really appreciate
39:49your effort though.
39:49You're really
39:49playing this out.
39:51Look, it's
39:52adoring fan again.
39:53So the flavor on
39:54this card is great.
39:55Not only do you
39:55only get it when
39:56you win the arena,
39:57but you can't get
39:58rid of it.
39:59It just keeps
40:00coming back.
40:01You can't shut
40:02it up, so you
40:03always have to deal
40:03with it and kill
40:04it, and then it
40:05has this very vague
40:06adoring fan will
40:07return.
40:09Paul, it goes
40:09where?
40:10Somewhere into the
40:11top of your deck,
40:11one of the top few
40:13cards?
40:13No, it actually
40:14just goes into the
40:14ether, and then
40:16it just returns.
40:16And then it just
40:17randomly returns?
40:19Yeah.
40:19So it just randomly
40:20returns and comes
40:22back on the board,
40:23and you just have to
40:24keep dealing with it
40:25over and over again.
40:26Not unlike the
40:26adoring fan in
40:27Oblivion.
40:28Or just leave him
40:28there.
40:30Yeah.
40:30Let him live his
40:31life.
40:31Boy, I sure felt
40:32like I was doing
40:33better, but Paul
40:34pulled a couple of
40:36good cards off of
40:36some rune destruction.
40:37I feel like those
40:38siege catapults are
40:39pretty pivotal there.
40:39The house carls are
40:41a good combo.
40:41Yeah, exactly.
