00:00One of the things I do feel good about and a reason that I'm feeling better and better about the
00:04Red Sox, number one, we're almost to the opener.
00:06I think just anybody, any fan base, any team, any sport, just about, the closer you get to the opener,
00:13you're starting to talk yourself into that team.
00:15Well, if you don't feel good on opening day, you'll never feel good.
00:17No, and I just acknowledge that I might be getting sucked up into that a little bit where it's like
00:21you're 0-0.
00:23It's game one a week away, and so I might be getting roped into that.
00:28I acknowledge that. But then, the World Baseball Classic is a reason to feel good about the Red Sox, not
00:32just because so many of the guys played well.
00:35And again, the final was not good for Whitlock. Roman Anthony ended the whole thing with the wrong kind of
00:39walk-off.
00:40But Anthony was great.
00:41You said the game before, they were both nails.
00:43Whitlock was great. But now it's like, okay, who played well in the tournament?
00:47You mentioned Duran. Duran has been great all spring. It started in Red Sox camp.
00:52And it's continued into the World Baseball Classic. And he's such a massive swing player wild card on this team.
01:00I think a real reason to feel optimistic about the Red Sox is the spring that he's having.
01:04And by the way, that cuts both ways. If you say spring training stats don't matter, then you can't read
01:09into Duran Duran and his big spring.
01:11You also can't ignore some of the slow springs out there for the Red Sox.
01:15Like, Meyer would be one that I would have on that list.
01:18But I buy into the spring. I buy into how guys look. He's looked incredible.
01:23And he looks like, if not Duran Duran, All-Star Game MVP from 2024, he at least looks like the
01:302023 Duran Duran,
01:32which is still a really, really good ball player and definitely better than a year ago.
01:35I think that's a big reason to feel optimistic.
01:37I think that's a big reason to feel optimistic.
