00:53There's a lot to play for and if we lose, I'll be fuming.
00:57Three heats and a grand finale where only the best will rise.

01:40This week, four pairs have been battling it out.
01:44Wow.
01:44To try and win this quarter of a million pound property in France.
01:49Now, only two pairs remain.
01:51The Burgundies, Xavier and Tash.
01:55And the Yellows, Elizabeth and Sam.
01:58That's the first one that's on.
01:59They've made it through renovation and petite challenges.

05:21their dream and heading to the grand finale yeah as this is such an
05:27important decision we'll also be looking at all the challenges you've competed in
05:31so far the stakes have never been higher and there's all to play for you guys have a lot to
05:41do
05:41for tomorrow so good luck thank you thank you your time starts now in 24 hours time guests will be
05:52arriving from all over Normandy and with the area famous for its food and drink expectations will
05:59be sky-high for our pairs it's important everyone has a good time yes not wanting any of their guests
06:04to feel left out the bulk of it needs to go on food and drink of course Tash and Xavier
06:09are aiming to
06:10cover all bases for food so we need to think about how we're gonna serve a vegan canopy yeah and
06:16drink
06:17we want to do an alcohol-free drink I would like to find elderflower if you make an elderflower syrup
06:22we could do like elderflower um with a like sparkling water yeah I think it'd be really nice to use
06:29as
06:30much local produce as we can so we want to do something with pears yeah like a pear and blue
06:35cheese tartlet yeah we really want to celebrate the area that we're in I'm anxious it's gonna be
06:42fine it's gonna be fine we're together it's a lot in a small time frame we don't have a lot
06:48a lot of time
06:48to turn this around no the pressure is on the party will be divided into two with each pair hosting
06:56half of the formal gardens as part of the challenge they will be able to make use of
07:02the chateau's garden furniture to help arrange their layout that's a good spot yeah along with being
07:09allowed to incorporate anything else they find around the chateau I don't know about you but you
07:14know where the tables are being set yeah this is our area here yeah I was thinking about dotting
07:20them around don't you want people together though would it not be better to spread them out and then
07:26people can move around to different maybe a little bit but I think you gotta force people together some of
07:30these people may not know each other we need to get them talking with each other and then create their
07:35own enjoyment oh it's our first big disagreeing you can't have separate tables that is anti-social
07:42I mean the garden's massive we don't just want people in one clump on the ground no I get no
07:47no
07:48no no I'm understand what he's saying I'm open to that if they're in one area people are just going
07:53to stand there they're not going to enjoy like this view no there's nothing here you know what I mean

07:58roughly how many do we need then so many times the biggest one here one down there one near the
08:04drop
08:05and maybe one up here yeah depending which table there are there may be piece of information about
08:11the garden but they only get told if they move to that table yeah that's nice anyway we've got a
08:17good plan now for the tables haven't we yeah I think we're going to bring experience to this challenge
08:24they're really nice they match at the back it's something I've been doing for nearly 20 years
08:30front of house working at a very prestigious country manor house I'm really pleased with this
08:38furniture yeah so I think we're gonna really come up with the goods on this helping to decide which
08:45pair will make it through to the grand finale a chateau DIY is very own Terry Ashley and Tracy these
08:53three know how to pull off a party the chateau feels alive again and that is the best feeling
08:58in the world so what do you look for when you're hosting an event I think there's a number of
09:05things that people are going to have to take into account for tomorrow one weather two requirements
09:09three would probably be the scheme of the garden see if they match into what we've already got here
09:14see if it follows and same colors and everything like that so what about yourself what you're going to
09:18be looking for so I think dietary requirements is really important obviously I'm a vegetarian
09:22and then again the gluten freeze and all sorts of intolerances now so it's quite difficult now to
09:29feed people and just get to what they need I think another thing is obviously quite a lot of people
09:33are going to be driving here as well so if they're going to be creating any non-alcoholic drinks as
09:38well
09:38as alcoholic drinks just so there's the options there for the different people it's a lot to consider
09:44isn't it you have to be practical you have to be clever and a lot of the stuff you have
09:47to do
09:47yourself so yeah that's they'll learn that so you guys have hosted plenty of parties here
09:53what makes the perfect chateau party we're really attentive as hosts we want to make sure our guests
09:58are comfortable make sure they have everything they need everyone leaves happy so that's what
10:02we'll kind of be looking for from there from the pairs for this well I think there's definitely one
10:06thing we all agree on we can't wait to see what the pairs create it's gonna be exciting absolutely
10:15as part of this challenge gorgeous both pairs will need to create tablescapes complete with
10:21floral centerpieces and what is our color scheme I want to go with the colors that they already have
10:27in the garden so like purples and pinks and whites I'm not gonna go for like reds or orange or
10:32anything
10:32because they don't have that sort of color they only have 300 euros to spend for the entire event
10:37so a little will have to go a long way um so these are not arranged so I guess maybe
10:45they ask for a
10:46price but oh my god um can we ask all the little about on a bouquet and you know but
10:52for flower which four euros a flower okay so get four white of those okay thank you
10:59and we'll just get two pink yes there you go perfect that's everything yes
11:14around the corner these are like these Sam is in full swing with their floral arrangements but
11:22they're nice is that that's a hydrangea hydrangea yeah I don't know can you go for me it's a hydrangea
11:30isn't that what I just said no you said a hydrangea sorry we've got hydrangeas in our own garden that's
11:39why I love them what have we got hi hi hi hydrangea hydrangea so we should get five of them
11:48they're
11:485.50 a stem it's substantial that they are big it's just focusing build it around this hydrangea I love
11:58the
11:58way you've become a floral expert these are three for one I really like them I think we'd be better
12:05getting something bigger like peonies maybe in a pale pink or a pinky white yeah because they take
12:11up loads of space and the vases there's more to it what should we do then pick out which ones
12:15we want
12:38up next for the pairs is a trip to the local supermarket
12:43yay we're in we need to focus first on the canapes it's really important that we get the food right
12:51I think at the end of the day once we're happy we've got enough of food then we need to
12:54focus on the drinks yeah
12:56while Tash and Xavier's focus is on food Elizabeth and Sam have other priorities
13:01I'm just going to very quickly look for outdoor games just here what is this one
13:05bulls get that one show you want more bulls yeah we've already done bulls aren't we
13:09it's meant to be for like a French event
13:14let's think about getting job lots of wine how about if we get like three of these yeah
13:21you've got to have at least a bottle each it's 15 bottles yeah
13:27they're going to be absolutely it's going to end up being a lot of money this we haven't even got
13:34any
13:34food we've got non-alcoholic shad in there non-alcoholic white wine just get one of those and
13:42that is a lot of stuff yeah I think we're going to be touching 100 euros on drink I hope
13:49we've not
13:49undervalued the food that is my biggest worry at this point we're in Normandy France where two
14:03couples are going head-to-head I don't think we should get more alcohol Tash cheese hosting a
14:10garden party for up to 30 guests at a prestigious chateau I'm gonna get some pastry cut it put the
14:17pear on top but cheese on top oh it's just a piece of pastry like a square yeah with a
14:21little
14:21bit of blue cheese and a bit of pair on it yeah okay fine but they only have 24 hours
14:25to get ready
14:26for the event we do want to keep it simple we want to keep it very light and easy to
14:29eat we don't want
14:30to get anything that's too mucky or anything that's going to be too heavy I'm gonna do some little crusty
14:36breads with olives and tomatoes on for veggies and then we're gonna do a fish one which will be a
14:43bit
14:43more complicated to cook so we'll do like a pea puree and scallop and bacon is the plan you look
14:51really nice do you want to get the fish should we get the fish we're going with the scallops because
14:56that's what we know how to cook yeah yeah all right I'll go get some peas oh joe escopper wall
15:15then if he's got 30 so I'll just buy what he does have so much that's quite good it's the
15:28only one
15:28here is yes so what are we doing next we've got gin over with Elizabeth and Sam they are finally
15:37turning their attention to food how much of these here not only do you get meat in these yeah your
15:42olives your cheese some of those little breadsticks most people eat meat in France don't just get two
15:47of those then and then we'll get some of the cheeses what about a thing of brie yeah smell it's
15:54really
15:54strong smell from that fridge so I was thinking maybe like goats cheese with honey got cheese and
16:01honey yeah good 285 each what about like a garlic cheese yeah yeah pate and garlic cheese okay let's
16:12see what there is six looks like the cheapest one doesn't it all right we got 30 guests you get
16:18six out
16:19of each one yeah one more does a glass for everyone Elizabeth and Sam only have 197 euros left of
16:30their
16:30budget to pay for their food and drink it's not all for me go go go go go while Xavier
16:37and Tash have 283
16:39euros left to spend we're at 100 already could be in trouble that's the booze then third of the budget
16:44on booze seems fine you're gonna make a guess 220 how much do you think all this is gonna come
16:50to you
16:50um I think maybe 110 I'm going above 170 are you can't see it being near that
16:58we'll have to get more wine then if it's not one so I think so I think we're gonna have
17:02a lot of money left
17:03so get to the back yard you open it you've lost Sam you said 153 it is is it wow

17:15including the flowers for their tablescape Tash and Xavier have spent just over 212 euros
17:21was a good shopping trip was it while Sam and Elizabeth have spent just over 256 euros in total
17:30the food and drink may be sorted but with the party looming the pairs can waste no time getting
17:37everything else ready do you know this is nearly three meters high this arch while Elizabeth and
17:43Sam make a start on the frame for their flower arch Tash and Xavier want to try and find a
17:48local
17:48ingredient Terry Ashley for their drinks menu a couple of questions of course thank you do you
17:55know of any existing elderflower if you go down the drive you'll see everything off to your right
18:02inside there's a forest full of all sorts right incredible that's fabulous foraging o'clock
18:14do we want the flowers yes does the flavoring that one smells really good
18:20is that he is going to make a nice elderflower cordial to go in our drinks let's go to extract
18:26the elderflower flavor Xavier will need to prepare the syrup now and leave it in the fridge overnight
18:31one kilo of sugar water bring out to a simmer let the sugar dissolve that's the plan just cleaning
18:43them off get rid of the brown bits I have made cordials but I've not made elderflower cordial
19:03yeah I think it'd be really nice if we can have something that we've made from this garden itself for
19:12a garden party in this garden I think that's really cool I think the judges will like that
19:19the teams are coming to the end of a full-on day I'm speeding through this one he seems to
19:25be going really well I think we've managed the time all right today haven't we I mean there's going to
19:30be a lot to do tomorrow there's a lot to do
19:33well I think doing simple canapes is good and then there's a lot of dressing isn't there yeah
19:39yeah tonight is done if we won the chateau we would absolutely be hosting like this all the time that

19:47exactly what we want it for and we would love to host events there and things like that so this

19:52sort of a small scale I suppose of what we want to do with what our dream is

20:13I think we've really got to bring it to there we don't want any regrets do we see if it

20:18the path I figured it goes here quite nervous feeling feeling it definitely careful it's going
20:25to fall over I've never done a flower arch before so it's going to be an interesting experience there's
20:31a lot riding on it the pairs only have the morning to prepare their side of the garden before the

20:38arrive for the party what's this over in the barn oh wow Tash has found something for their flower arch
20:45they have loads of faux flowers here well that's brilliant can we use some pruners there thank you

21:38these amazing trees and we're gonna put them over the flower arch we don't want to use fake plants fake
21:46flowers Liz is very strong on that can I just start a few of the biggish ones it's just gonna
21:52go into
21:52the arch they are so pretty I'm just getting everything out the bags now so I can have a look
22:01at what I've got but I've got a really nice long piece of floral decoration here so I'm gonna pre

22:07with that I'd like to offer to lend you my height but I know we're about the same way how's

22:14oh this is just not like it's gonna be easy cuz I'm too small frankly but that is what it
22:21is they
22:22artificial plants are they yeah in the upstairs kitchen my elderflower cordial seems to have
22:35worked it tastes of elderflower so that's good Xavier is making a start on his canapes I actually
22:42have made the scallops before I have made them for Tasha I don't know now time to heat the things

22:53a chateau it's a bit daunting because found out yesterday that Ashley is a trained chef so that adds an
23:04extra dimension to the judging so this is puff pastry for the pear and blue cheese tarts
23:12so comfortable cooking so calm this is way less stressful than screwing together bits of wood for
23:22me I think they're doing more sort of picky bits is what they've been saying but their decor will be
23:29excellent because they have a great eye for that kind of stuff so I'm very interested to see what
23:34their side of the garden looks like and whether they are actually cooking beans on toast as his book
23:40keeps telling me I don't think they are I've never made a canopy in my life absolutely not so this
23:52is
23:52something new for me but just looking at the colors and what it looks like was very tasty if I
23:58was offered
23:59this at a garden party I would really enjoy it looks really good I think you produce your best when
24:05you're
24:05under pressure but you're still calm I think stress can cause issues this is like a fantasy dream this
24:13this should not be us this but it is also it's credible isn't it right we need to get cracking

25:15therefore mystery to our information we wanted that will keep the guests entertained it's too windy
25:21for this and I've got to redo everything a thousand times and it's not just the tables that need
25:26dressing to be honest to just need a minute to like bring myself back down and get changed oh
25:37oh my word how how high do you want the topping up that's fine that's fine just do it like
25:42that why the heck that's ridiculous it's snapped off
25:48I'll just stand by it for a bit or abouts
25:52it's a joke ridiculous we'll have to hold it all day that's giving it more strength
26:16we're at chateau de la la cell in Normandy where two pairs of could be chateau owners have battled it
26:24out in renovation challenges and now they need to host the perfect garden party just in the nick of

27:14up their flower arch leaving Elizabeth to serve their guests there we go Tash and Xavier are wanting
27:25to make a good first impression with their drinks list do you like some Cremant and we've got some
27:30elderflower could have some elderflower please yes absolutely elderflower in the Cremant yeah or just
27:36soda water so this is elderflower cordial which we made from the trees on the grounds yeah so if you
27:46want the drop of that in the Cremant you're more than welcome plenty of it it's quite a plunge and
27:53one
27:53and then no that's absolutely fine we've got no non-alcoholic options and we'll be serving elderflower
27:59which we can do a non-alcoholic version as well and a bee's knees cocktail got it which is honey
28:06lemon and gin sounds a good selection just heard that that is elderflower made with elderflowers from
28:14the trees this year yeah so it's just yesterday I went and picked them and made it overnight would
28:20you like something yeah please with the guests thoroughly impressed by Xavier and Tash's welcome
28:25drinks Elizabeth and Sam are trying to keep up with their rivals I think maybe we should get the
28:31canapes out maybe yeah let's take the lead with that then because it is nice to have a can of
28:36pay

32:20see in his presentation with them visually for me that's spectacular when it comes to a different
32:26level it's about the presentation isn't it so Tracy you're vegetarian how did you find the selection
32:31available I think Zav's selection was a lot better because obviously this is the gluten-free one and
32:38then we've got the vegetarian and vegan so they've catered for every single person that comes here so
32:44this really is to me um outstanding I think as much of a selection as Sam and Elizabeth have provided
32:51they still haven't gone with like a gluten-free option so it's kind of a little bit of a let
32:57down
32:57that they've they've gone with so much and they haven't thought about that I guess you guys attend
33:02lots of garden parties so creating something that stands out is the challenge anybody can go and open
33:07a packet of food or crack open a bottle of drink to create something bespoke for your guests with them
33:13in mind something special I think that's what we're all about isn't it really is just going that extra
33:18step everything we do is luxury isn't it you know and that's what the Chateau is about the attention to
33:24detail absolutely and and Zav for me Zav and Tash have nailed the attention to detail and Tash and Xavier's
33:31hospitality isn't stopping at the food oh that's a gin and lemon cocktail do you like lemon I like
33:39anything I need to make three bees knees three yes do you want me to come and help you are
33:45you okay
33:45no it's okay I'm okay with that you're okay you just entertain okay top-ups of any clemore three of
33:55my
33:55these needs they're catching on now because we have one gentleman who is a keen gin drinker and he
34:03thinks the bees need is the big things so he's recommending it to people okay drop the honey
34:08and then we serve guests time is almost up for the two pairs Sam has one last ditch attempt to
34:17try and
34:17claw back some guests hello ladies the game of bull awaits and it's now Sam has made loads of new
34:26friends he's quite popular with the ladies he's teaching them how to play bulls and filling up the
34:33wine glasses so they're gonna have a nice time this ball is called a yeah thank you the idea of
34:39the game
34:39is to get your bull as close to the jack as possible without hitting it you can hit it as
34:48well oh very
34:52good you flick yes oh wow wow you're so good now is there anything else you want now
35:10with the party winding down what have the guests made of our pairs Sam and Elizabeth were excellent

35:25the drinks we serve and Tasha were delicious yeah with the elderflower and I thought it was lovely that
35:31that was from this area here where we are yeah yeah beautiful Tash and Xavier I must admit went over
35:39and above what we actually expected so the complexity of their canopies the drinks that they supplied I
35:47don't drink alcohol they had something there for me we'll do signatures on the way out if anyone wants

36:11you've given us such an incredibly tough decision to make
36:31two pairs have been battling it out to try and host the best garden party at a chateau in Normandy
36:37one person
36:38said it was the best calipi they'd ever had oh they had 300 euros and only 24 hours to prepare
36:45for the party
36:48both pairs stayed within budget you do the canapes I'll go around with drinks but despite their best efforts
36:53pretty much anyone like topper only one pair can bag a spot in the grand finale
37:00with so much on the line it's time for me and the guest judges to review our final pair's efforts
37:07wow what an event that was it was fantastic wasn't it what did you guys think they did a marvelous
37:13job
37:13what did you think to the food food was fantastic both of them provided different things with them
37:18and each of them were great and do you think they all considered the chateau when they were designing
37:23their menus Tash and Zav was more of what I'd expect to see at a chateau Elizabeth and Sam did
37:28really
37:28well with what they did but I don't think it's necessarily something that we will put out at the
37:33chateau it was all just shop bought it was brushed together within the last sort of 30 minutes of the
37:38guests arriving and Tash and Zav created was obviously far better quality and looking wise
37:44elderflower was delicious wasn't it was absolute we've actually pinched the recipe off him haven't
37:49we yeah he said if he had time he'd knock us a little batch up but it really did go
37:55down well
37:55what do you think about the layout isn't it interesting how they both went for different
37:59approaches where there was a group of tables everyone kind of congregated around that and
38:02that happened to be Tash and Zav's tables that they placed them a lot closer together loved what Sam
38:09and Elizabeth did with the information on the tables and getting people to actually move around the
38:13garden but when there's an event people are always going to congregate together and that's exactly
38:17what happened what about hospitality skills how they were serving and engaging with the guests
38:23when it comes to hospitality and the way that they looked after the guests I think both teams
38:27smashed out the park they really did there was nothing between them they were both really
38:30attentive really thought about the guests and run about check made sure everyone was all right
38:35checked with drinks had conversations with them I think Sam and Elizabeth took that little bit
38:39longer to engage with the guests so Sam was sort of left alone on the terrace so he wasn't engaging
38:45with any of the people down here he was just sort of stuck up there on his own and what
38:49about the
38:50two arches was there a clear favorite there for you Tash using all the artificial foliage was good
38:55budget-wise but it would just be nice if she just introduced a little bit more mostly real foliage in
39:00there just to give you that balance with it because it just looked all a bit too artificial I think
39:05if it
39:06was me I'd have spent more money on the food and drink I'd have probably gone down the route that
39:10Zava and Tasha did the arch Elizabeth created that was quite sort of drab of color and without the
39:16hydrangeas from the chateau then it would have just been an arch of ivy but for what she's got here
39:21she
39:21could have incorporated a little bit more color to it it would have been perfect so the decision we're
39:26making today is huge both these pairs have evolved massively over this week I'm actually really proud of
39:33them the evolution of both these pairs from day one to today is phenomenal how far they've come the
39:39first challenge was the entertainment spaces and actually Xavier and Tasha they finished in the bottom
39:44too really they tried really hard Xavier constructed a bar from scratch which again was really brave
39:50they work terrifically as a couple but the attention to detail sometimes is lacking his attention to detail
39:56to the food today was superb so I'm quite shocked to hear that their attention to detail hasn't been at
40:01that point until now so if Tasha and Xavier make it to the grand finale they need to take the
40:06attention
40:06to detail from the scallops and put that into their carpentry absolutely and then Sam and Elizabeth
40:12almost the opposite for them they won the first challenge they were super confident Sam has taken
40:18on panelling it's just become his thing and he's improved challenge upon challenge it's really quite the
40:23contrast you know where Xavier and Tasha are lacking the detail Sam and Elizabeth have excelled there
40:28little brochures next to the bedroom desk paintings on the wall beautiful wallpaper the panelling and
40:35actually the bedroom was my favorite I absolutely loved what they created in that bedroom and
40:40Stephanie's favorite was well interestingly she preferred Xavier and Tasha's they were both beautiful
40:44to be fair I think it's so difficult for you because you've got two pairs that are clearly capable of
40:49running the chateau and now you've got an unbelievably difficult decision to make I don't envy you no I don't
40:54want to do it
41:20well done everybody we were really impressed with how you managed to deliver the event
41:24thank you Sam and Elizabeth it's been great seeing your skills develop and each and every
41:36room you've created has shown you've got incredible attention to detail thank you Tasha and Xavier your
41:41determination and enthusiasm is so evident in the way you attack every challenge thank you both of you
41:49have achieved great success and overcome minor setbacks in the competition Sam and Elizabeth we
41:55were overjoyed with how you incorporated the entire garden and the history of the chateau itself
42:00thank you so much Xavier and Tasha we're amazed with the canapes and the drinks that you created and you
42:06certainly charmed the guests thank you you all successfully created a chateau worthy garden party
42:13thank you there's only one spot available in the grand finale from this week
42:21and the pair still competing to win their dream is
42:25it just feels like a dream we did not think we were going to get past the first week
42:45I can't believe it can you believe it it's dark because I can't I know I'm gonna cry well done
42:50you've done so well it couldn't have gone to two better people they work really hard today they
42:58fully deserve it you deserve that oh my god both these pairs have been fantastic throughout they're
43:08lovely people as well as great designers they've been humble they've been passionate and it made it
43:13incredibly hard today to make a decision between them Tasha and Xavier are always so ambitious with
43:19their designs with their work ethic they give it a hundred percent today they created a garden party on
43:24a chateau scale they showed exactly what they've got to win the dream it's been an absolute pleasure
43:30getting to know you and working alongside you Sam and Elizabeth thank you so much we've had an
43:34incredible time and Tasha Xavier I'll see you in the grand finale well done thank you they were just the
43:44strongest competition I feel obliged to go and try and win it now so they can come visit yeah we're
43:50going to try and do it for them and we're going to invite all our fellow heat contestants it's the
43:57end of this dream which is very sad but it's not the end for us all together we will be
44:03in France at
44:03some point that's our our real wish isn't it I think it's just the beginning really yeah
44:23next time the chateau has some new arrivals it's real now tasked with renovating the chateau's attic
44:32spaces into cozy snugs it's not what I was expecting it looks like medieval the pairs have
44:37been put into teams what's the plan for you also we can't tell you that the pressure is on they
