00:01Well, Tropical Cyclone Norell is expected to cross the coast of Queensland on Friday morning,
00:08somewhere between Lockhart River and Port Douglas. At the moment, the system is a Category 2. It's
00:15sitting about 1,000 kilometres east-northeast off the coast of Queensland, but it is set to
00:21intensify to a Category 5 system before it crosses the coast on Friday. As for the types of conditions
00:29this system could bring, authorities are warning that winds could reach speeds of between 200 and
00:36250 kilometres per hour, particularly around the eye of the storm. And as for rainfall, totals of
00:43between 200 and 400 millimetres are expected. Now, work is already underway to prepare locals in this
00:52area for the cyclone. Some of the communities in the impact zone really are in remote areas. Police
00:58are going door-to-door, reminding people about the risks that could unfold. Evacuations are already
01:04underway. Indeed, we've seen some people evacuated from Lizard Island. Here's some of what the Premier,
01:11David Christofulli, said earlier. This may be the biggest system that many people have seen in living
01:15memory. And that's why we're asking people to prepare, as we have. And preparation doesn't mean
01:22being alarmed. It means it's doing the little things right. And I do have faith that these communities
01:27are more than capable of doing that. It's just because a number of them are remote, it's important
01:33that we take the opportunity to share the message. Now, SES resources have already been bolstered,
01:39especially in communities such as Cohen, Cooktown and Woodjul. Woodjul, and as you just heard there from the
01:46Premier, he's saying that this storm could be one of the biggest in living memory that some people in this
01:52area have experienced. Police are urging people to stay indoors when Cyclone Norell crosses the coast. As I say,
02:00that is set to intensify to a Category 5 and is expected to reach the coast by Friday morning.
