00:00Hello with your national weather forecast as we have a look at what we're
00:03expecting for tomorrow. That's for Saturday the 25th of July and
00:06then also a quick look at Sunday as well. First to the synoptic map and most
00:10Australians can expect to see a dry and settled start to the weekend.
00:14That's due to a large high pressure system sitting over the Bight
00:17and with clear skies overnight many will wait to frost all the way from western
00:21Australia through central parts of the country
00:23even as far north as southern Queensland. The exception though is across the
00:27southeast. Showers continuing for southern parts of South Australia, Victoria and
00:30Tasmania as a trough moves through but showers
00:33will be on an easing trend as we head towards the evening but remaining quite
00:36cold with cooler west to southwesterly winds
00:39pushing through. So now state by state look starting off with Queensland,
00:43widespread frost for inland areas including for the Darling Downs,
00:46Marinoa, Warrego even as far north as places like Charleville and Tambo but
00:50sunshine will follow temperatures bouncing back into the high teens
00:53and low to mid 20s. Mostly clear across eastern Queens
00:57that with southeasterly winds coastal areas could see a very light shower or two
01:01generally expecting less than about two millimeters or so.
01:05For Brisbane a cold start, nine degrees in the city, patchy fog across the western
01:09suburbs but a sunny day to follow bouncing back to 22 degrees.
01:1226 degrees in Cairns, partly cloudy but showers increase across the north
01:16tropical coast as we head into Sunday. Now to New South Wales, widespread frost for
01:21inland areas, patchy fog about the ranges. It will be sunny to start inland but then
01:25cloud will build into the afternoon and showers are possible most likely
01:28around the Victorian border and snow is possible above 1500 meters across the
01:33snowy mountains. Sunny across eastern parts of New
01:36South Wales, a cold start though. Sydney five degrees will make it its
01:39coldest start of the year so far, dropping towards zero for western Sydney and
01:43we will see some frost across those areas there but a sunny day to follow.
01:4620 degrees in Sydney, a cold start in Canberra but a partly cloudy day.
01:5015 degrees is the maximum. Now to Victoria, patchy fog across the
01:54northeast of the state. Cloudy in the south with showers including
01:57around Melbourne and those showers will gradually extend
01:59northwards through the day and snow will fall above 1500 meters across
02:03alpine areas. Generally expecting up to about a millimetre in the north,
02:07high falls in the south up to 10 to 15 millimetres
02:09for the outway ranges and across to Phillip Island and western parts of
02:13Gippsland but cooler westerly winds, temperatures pretty cool to mild for this
02:17time of year. After Tasmania, westerly winds
02:20continues to move onto the coast. Showers will build across the west
02:23and also extend into central districts because there's a moderate falls about
02:27the west coast range between 30 to 50 millimetres is possible but
02:305 to 10 millimetres elsewhere and the snow level will fall to about 1200
02:34metres as you head into Saturday night. So for Hobart, we are expecting
02:38showers through the day, top of 13 degrees and showers continue across much of the north of the state.
02:42Now to South Australia, we are expecting patchy frost in the morning followed by
02:46sunny day in the north, cloudy in the south and along the coast with slight
02:50chance of a shower. They'll gradually move north through the day including for the
02:54Eyre Peninsula as far north as about Kimber, across to Port Augusta and down
02:57through Adelaide and the south east of the state. Generally two to five
03:01millimetres is expected but we could see some higher falls around the
03:03Mount Lofty ranges. A cool day though with west to southwesterly winds,
03:07temperatures slightly below average for this time of year. So Adelaide, a couple of
03:11showers are possible with 16 degrees and also reaching the mid to high teens
03:14across the northern parts of the state. For Western Australia, widespread morning
03:18frost for the Wheatbelt, Goldfields and down towards the Esperance coast but it will
03:22be a sunny day to follow with easterly winds and temperatures reaching the high
03:26teens to low 20s. Also a cool start in Perth followed by a mostly sunny top with 20
03:30degrees. A cloud will build across the southwest ahead of the next cold front and
03:34that's due on Sunday. For northern areas it will be a sunny day. High fire dangers are
03:38possible again across parts of the Pilbara with some pretty gusty easterly winds moving
03:43through. Now to northern parts of the country. A cold start dropping down towards
03:47zero in Alice Springs with frost there. Otherwise sunshine except for a couple of
03:51light showers across eastern parts of the Top End. It will be quite breezy and smoke
03:56is again possible across Darwin. Top of 32 degrees there and reaching the high 20s to
04:00low 30s across the Kimberley and northern Pilbara. Now having a look at Sunday, the cold front
04:05across western Australia sweeps through with showers and some cooler air but we are on an
04:09easing trend across the southeast of the country. Temperatures climbing a few degrees. Otherwise for
04:14central and northern areas another cold start but then plenty of sunshine to follow. That's your
