USC Trojans coach Lincoln Riley discusses their first spring practice. Riley talks about how they started spring practice earlier than usual because they have such a high percentage of their roster present on campus, he mentions that it will be good for them to start earlier.

00:00All right. Yeah, great, great first day. Great to be back on the field. We're obviously doing spring a little
00:05bit earlier than we've started in the past. And we felt like with the roster that we've been able to
00:10accumulate, having such a high percentage of our entire roster already here for spring, that really pushed us to get
00:18out here a little bit earlier to start spring, go ahead and get these guys on the field and get
00:21going.
00:22And so a good first day, guys flew around. You know, you notice some of the improvements of the guys
00:29that have returned. And then obviously it's kind of fun for us to get a first look at the transfers
00:33and obviously all the high school guys that came in, that came in here this spring. In terms of availabilities,
00:39I know I'll get asked. I know you guys are going to really appreciate this.
00:43These are the six guys that won't participate or if they do, will be certainly very limited in spring. Tanook
00:51Hines, Chasen, Killian O'Connor, Christian Pierce, Justin Tanu and John Tez. All of those six guys will all be
00:59very limited, may be able to do some individual stuff a little bit later on, but all recovering from some
01:05offseason procedures and all of that.
01:07So other than those guys, you know, we expect to have a lot of the roster available, expect to be
01:12able to get a lot of good work. And I mean, this is, I would say for every coach in
01:16the building, we've never had a spring practice. None of us in all of our years where we had this
01:21high a percentage of your full roster already here for spring, which is a huge advantage. And it puts a
01:26lot of obviously importance on having really quality practices, having your whole, basically your entire squad here.
