USC Trojans coach Lincoln Riley discusses their format for spring practice. Riley talks about how they formatted spring practice this year since they started it earlier than usually and how it is going to help them evaluate players better.

00:00Coach, a little different set up in the past year.
00:02You started spring camp, went all the way through.
00:04This time you're taking a break.
00:05What's the thought process with that?
00:07Yeah, spring break just kind of naturally falls during that time.
00:10And so we're going to pack it in a little bit tighter here.
00:14So we're going some back-to-back days.
00:15Tomorrow will be our first back-to-back day.
00:17But that's going to happen pretty often during the spring practice period.
00:22When we looked at it with the way the roster was,
00:24we just felt like it was the right thing to get these guys on the field faster,
00:29not wait until after spring break, which at times is what we've done.
00:32And so we're going to get basically half the spring done.
00:35We'll have spring break, and then we'll come back and do the rest of spring.
00:38And the great thing it's going to provide for us is an opportunity
00:40to have another training cycle after spring ball.
00:44When you finish later, you're kind of limited on what you can do training-wise.
00:49Then they're into summer pretty quickly.
00:50And so we had a good seven-week cycle here to start.
00:54We'll get spring ball basically done in a matter of five weeks,
00:57and then we'll have a nice cycle after to come back and train these guys,
01:01make some of the corrections in spring ball, and get ready for summer.
