00:00Hey, I'm David Buolo, Lead UI, here at Eidos Montreal,
00:03and I'm going to take 30 seconds to talk to you about UI on Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
00:10For UI on Shadow of the Tomb Raider,
00:12we wanted to focus a lot on the maturity aspect of the presentation layer.
00:15We wanted to really achieve a cinematic type of experience.
00:18This is about reducing the noise and the congestion of textures on the HUD
00:23to make sure that the player's not being sucked out of the immersion of the experience.
00:27Oftentimes, in UI, when nobody notices us, this is when we've done our job.
00:32And one of the other aspects we really wanted to focus on was the map screen.
00:35With us, we have a much more grounded experience.
00:37We've gone for more of a top-down approach with something like Saddle.
