00:09Mohit, a young farmer from Nivarsi village in Kurukshetra, Haryana, has turned farming
00:14into a successful business using modern technology and scientific methods. After
00:21learning horticulture in Australia, Mohit returned to India with the idea of
00:26improving traditional farming practices. He started farming in 2011 by
00:31installing a polyhouse and growing flowers. The venture brought him good
00:36income and encouraged him to further expand his venture. In 2019, Mohit began a
00:43high-tech vegetable nursery which later became known as Chahal Nursery.
00:49I decided to start a vegetable nursery in a high-tech way. I went to Australia and
00:54studied horticulture while acquiring technical knowledge. After understanding
00:59the modern techniques, I implemented them on my farm. The benefit was that both the
01:04quality and production of my nursery increased. I wanted to improve it
01:08further. With this thought in mind, I began creating a high-tech vegetable
01:12nursery in 2019 and 20. That's where a new journey of my life began. Today, my
01:18nursery is registered as Chahal Nursery. It has gained recognition in many states
01:23across the country. The nursery uses a special grafting technique that helps plants
01:29become stronger and more resistant to diseases. To maintain the quality of
01:36delicate vegetable saplings, Mohit also built a small laboratory where the
01:41temperature is carefully controlled. Every year, around 2 crore saplings are grown on
01:48his farm. Farmers bring their own seeds and Mohit's nursery prepares healthy saplings
01:54within 25 to 30 days. He charges between 1 rupee 25 paise and 1 rupee 50 paise for a normal
02:03plant,
02:03while grafted plants cost about 12 rupees each. Temperature is crucial when preparing a vegetable
02:11nursery. If the temperature is too high or too low, the quality of the plants can be affected.
02:17In the laboratory on my farm, the temperature is controlled with the help of an air conditioner.
02:22We prepare the saplings in 25 to 30 days and charge between Rs. 1.25 and Rs. 1.50 for
02:31a standard plant,
02:32while grafted plants cost around Rs. 12 per plant. On just three acres of land, Mohit has built four
02:40poly houses and now earns around 1.5 crore rupees annually. Farmers from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and
02:50Uttar Pradesh are connected with this nursery. Today, nearly 50,000 farmers benefit from the saplings
02:56prepared at Chahal Nursery.
03:00I have been getting my vegetable saplings prepared directly from Mohit for the last three years.
03:05They are ready on time and the quality is also very good. We are getting good profits.
03:10Mohit has also created employment by hiring around 30 workers on his farm. Mohit hopes more young
03:18people will join agriculture and transform it into a strong and innovative industry.
