Hands-on agronomy event empowers women in agriculture

Agronomist Helen Lethlean and Amanda Walker from the Walker Group led FarmCo’s workshop, providing women with an introduction to cropping, rotations, and farm decision-making.

00:00This event has kind of come about from having conversations with our clients and customers

00:03who have told us that they would like to know a bit more, they'd like to be a bit more hands-on,

00:07they'd like to understand what drives those decisions in the paddock and how that relates

00:11to what the decisions then they make in the office. So I suppose that's how the event came about.

00:17Plus we've got an all-female team so anything to do with getting females together in a nice

00:22space to connect and learn from each other is really, really cool.

00:24It's basically agronomy one-on-one. People that don't know anything about farming or cropping

00:29could understand what their partners or friends do. We talked about the different crops and how

00:39they fit into different rotations, the weeds, the diseases, the insects that can be issues in those crops.
