00:04i just finished season four of friends you guys over corrected because for years when it was the
00:11best show ever it seemed like all right that's a lot of praise for something that i've seen
00:17and it's fine but since you keep calling it the best ever i hate it and now people online treat
00:23it like it's the worst thing ever which is also a massive disservice as a guy who as you know
00:29if you've been following along went into friends not being a fan and kind of avoiding it on purpose
00:36just because i was such a seinfeld loyalist this show's doing it for me okay so let's talk about
00:44season four season four begins with joey at the beach house giving us a recap of all the things
00:50that happened last season thank you joey because all right i'm not doing it the old school way where
00:58you know a season ends and then you're waiting the entire summer for it to come back and fall
01:02i'm you know pretty much knocking all these episodes off as you know i have an opening in
01:07the schedule in between working on a bunch of other videos so you know there's gaps where i
01:13haven't followed back up on friends and i have to catch up because i gotta produce these videos
01:17and something like this really helps okay though i wish i was at a beach house like joey
01:23no it's just cold outside i'm your mother oh and then monica joked that she wouldn't go out with a
01:28guy like chandler either and he couldn't let go and i don't really know what happened with that either
01:33so we start off resolving the cliffhanger from last season oh and then ross's new girlfriend bonnie
01:39shows up and rachel convinced her to shave her head and then ross and rachel kiss and now ross has
01:44to
01:44choose between rachel and the bald girl ross and rachel are happening again and this is going to
01:49be the last time i invest in this relationship if it fails i'm not on board anymore it's not meant
01:54to
01:54be and even though she's bald 90s christine taylor is still smoking hot and honestly like my views about
02:02the wedding singer you would not have a problem settling for holly the same way even if she's bald
02:10ross does not deserve her either so we're going to continue learning more about phoebe's upbringing
02:16phoebe's mom was in a throuple and for as open-minded as they portray phoebe to be
02:22she storms out all right i'm already getting exhausted with ross and rachel and maybe they're
02:29now again back together but she has ross doing homework on no sleep and writing essays and ross can't
02:38even do that up to rachel standards it's too exhausting i don't even know how joey is able
02:43to tolerate all of this since it's your traditional sitcom since we have heavy drama from the ross rachel
02:50side it's got to get silly on the other side so we're back at the beach and joey and monica
02:56are
02:56being kind of flirty and monica gets stung by a jellyfish i gotta point out monica is looking super
03:04ripped right now well there's really only one thing you can do what what is it you're gonna
03:09have to pee on it what this feels like the start of a porn parody of friends something that would
03:18have the title of like this is not friends or a friends parody xxx by that uh what the hell

03:26call it the turtles one the wood rocket or something i think that's the name of the production company
03:31that does these things it always seems to be phoebe and joey that have storylines where it's not based
03:47on relationships and it's more boy look at the weird things these two are up to if ross and rachel
03:54are going to get back together all ross has to do at this point is agree that it was all
03:59his fault
04:00but this is ross and even though i'm only three seasons in at this point i too know that ross
04:07is
04:07a stubborn idiot he doesn't accept the deal they were on a break we were on a break oh my
04:15god if
04:16you say that one more time i'm gonna break up with you it's gonna keep going with that everyone's sick
04:21of it chandler's sick of it joey's sick of it they're all dumber than ross in a way but they're
04:29all kind of smarter than him in another way okay in the comments if you were watching this show
04:35when it was brand new how did you ever root for ross i i don't think he's ever gonna get
04:40out of last
04:40place for me did he ever ever like appeal to you because i kind of just want bad things to
04:46happen
04:46to him for the rest of the series so now phoebe goes and meets with her twin sister ursula and
04:54apparently at one point ursula found a suicide note that was left for them by their mother phoebe has
05:01one messed up family as you may remember from my previous season recaps this is another example of
05:08what they're talking about sounds like one thing but it's completely different
05:13right no joey we swore we'd never tell they'll never understand did they have like the devil's
05:22threesome but they're actually referring to having to pee on monica to relieve the jellyfish sting
05:28if i had to i'd pee on any one of you i think r kelly said that at his court
05:33hearings phoebe's mom
05:34shows up looking for forgiveness baby kind of just is like nah i don't have it for you
05:41but they do end up bonding over a mutual love of puppies and the beetles wait i like um the
05:50beetles
05:50oh my god so do i little baby dobermans ringo ross and rachel are in bed and rachel is like
06:01oh ross
06:01you're so wonderful you actually were able to admit you were wrong but we all know ross
06:08any snaps we were on the break
06:14coffee house you bet and now they're broken up again thank you wonderful what do we have like
06:1910 minutes of them back together this really is will they won't they at hyper speed
06:24you know i can't believe i even thought of getting back together with you really getting
06:29you to root for them a real jam up kind of guy in episode two i like that they still
06:35kept the
06:36duck and the chicken it really adds something to the joey chandler apartment and their kind of
06:42bromance they just have livestock and nobody bats an eye and in this episode everything just kind of
06:49sucks for rachel monica's about to go out with the guy who took her to prom instead of her breaking
06:56ross's heart ross is just mean to her dumb drunken bitch
07:06drunken bitch phoebe's on a on a different wavelength in this episode she thinks this stray cat
07:14is the spirit of her dead mom and now i think for the first time in the run of this
07:19series
07:21ross and phoebe have their own issues you know people like ross you know where to needle them and
07:27they're just gonna snap jurassic park could happen
07:35i'm also thinking had american psycho have gotten made four or five years sooner david schwimmer would
07:42have been the perfect patrick bateman and you know what i like that phoebe has a backbone where
07:47she stands up to ross even if i'm wrong who cares just be a friend okay be supportive
07:56episode three is more of a chandler episode first of all they are still without furniture since they
08:04got robbed i like that they kept that storyline up and joey and chandler are just dealing with it
08:10now joey's just the best chandler has to deal through sarcasm that's how he's able to cope
08:17but joey rolls with the punches we don't have furniture look at all this lawn furniture i just
08:22found sure it's a little rusted but we can still sit in it oh you know what we're not alone
08:28we got
08:29livestock in the apartment you know what joey rolls with the punches be like joey could he be any less
08:36worried and then they brought back rachel's boss from the previous season the one that chandler
08:42had no chemistry with well now he's sleeping with her so much for standards and rachel wants him to
08:49end it i kind of wanted to see if this boss woman popped up in anything else i may have
08:54seen and it
08:55turns out she was the voice of baby doll on batman the animated series okay is it a thing that
09:01all 90s
09:02eventually have a guest starring role from pen jillette i think the first time i ever was
09:07introduced to pen jillette was as drell on sabrina the teenage witch or maybe i even heard his voice
09:13sooner than that because he was the guy who said you are watching comedy central back in the 90s

10:20oh yeah of course you don't because you're a little princess joey tells traeger that hey you weren't
10:27very nice to rachel and for standing up to him traeger is going to use all the information he knows
10:33to get monica booted from the building i'm going to call the landlord and tell him that monica is
10:38illegally sublet in their grandmother's apartment that's not good so they make a deal and it looks
10:45like traeger wants to learn to dance to impress a woman impress a woman it's not gay okay the episode
10:51wants to let you know it's not gay it's not a gay thing so how goes the dancing gay yet
10:56meanwhile
10:58at her job phoebe gets fired for making out with one of her clients that makes her the second girl
11:06on
11:06the show to lose her job because she can't follow the rules i think chandler ross and
11:16just chandler and ross know how to keep steady employment episode five really i don't know it
11:21didn't really have too much going for it i didn't think it was cool that gunther was back i hadn't
11:26seen him for the last few episodes uh phoebe singing smelly cat with the horsey kind of voice the rasp
11:33i like that
11:41but i really did not like monica's hair that was disgusting no whoever did that to her no the sixth
11:49episode also didn't have too much going for it it was nice to know that chandler wouldn't portray a
11:55friendship just to hook up he's my best friend it was also nice that ross lowers his standards to
12:04make out with this kind of trashy girl and then you have the partnership that's formed between phoebe
12:09and monica to work in a catering capacity together in 407 the bro code gets tested chandler really likes
12:19this girl that joey starts dating her name's kathy and she's one of the many that joey is hooking up
12:26with and chandler thinks oh well you know because joey has all these other girls kathy will eventually
12:32maybe give him a shot that he may eventually be able to go out with kathy i just walked in
12:38the
12:38bathroom and saw kathy naked it was like torture you know if we ever go to war and you're captured
12:44you're in for a big surprise but no joey actually wants to continue things with kathy chandler and
12:52kathy do end up making out and joey as i've learned through the series i actually thought he was going
12:58to be like this guy with no morals just a dumb guy you know like a casanova who just gets
13:04with anybody
13:05but no he's kind of got morals and when chandler tries to buy him off no joey ain't gonna do

13:11you should have just told him the truth uh then there's this whole other side plot where ross finds
13:16his old keyboard and this feels relatable to me because my dad also used his keyboard back
13:22in that time period to make a song with barking dog sound effects
13:36he used to compose songs on his casio keyboard and he thought he was a real artist and i kind
13:42of
13:42wonder if anyone's taken his song here and done internet remixes
14:07i think this came up before share and definitely before t-pain did it
14:18oh and now we're taking shots at phoebe's music
14:30if phoebe sucked at music why would taylor swift be covering her 408 brings us back to thanksgiving
14:38which is monica's time you'd think it would be monica's time but the poor girl just really sucks
14:45on this day she injures herself to the point where she has to go see her eye doctor yes she

14:51back and see richard that would be a really bad thing to have happen no my eye doctor is richard

14:57can't go to him when i don't have a boyfriend he's really picky about his patients unfortunately richard
15:04is not in the office right now there's still fallout over on the joey chandler side because
15:10yeah chandler's a crappy friend because he tried to steal joey's girl i screwed up yeah you did
15:18and that's why i'm leaving joey's moving out and if chandler wants to make this right
15:23he's gonna have to contemplate his actions by sitting in the box yes he's gonna be living in a box
15:31living in a cardboard box richard may not be in his office but his son is and monica is getting

15:39hot for him i was gonna have thanksgiving at my girlfriends oh but we broke up oh monica's got some
15:47kinks doesn't she is that something we're gonna learn about in future seasons and in the past if monica

16:00this time she just freaking roasts the entire crew of how doa their love life is like the song says

16:17life is chandler joey breaks up with kathy and joey is like chandler all right you're forgiven go get
16:25her 409 has the boys meeting up with gandalf who's supposedly the funnest man in the world but joey
16:33doesn't even understand the gandalf thing because he didn't get into lord of the ring hello didn't you
16:38read lord of the rings in high school no i had sex in high school rachel is going for a
16:45new promotion
16:45but her boss keeps sabotaging her so that she won't leave monica and phoebe uh their catering
16:53business was going to do well but monica got offered a new job so it looks like she's going to
16:59sabotage her thing with phoebe i think by doing that that makes monica possibly drop down my friend's
17:06tier ranking phoebe's so nice that she understands that this is going to suck catering would have been
17:12really cool to do with her friend but monica should really take this new chef job and you know
17:17what this show kind of takes a seinfeld like turn because the plot where rachel is being sabotaged by her
17:25boss you know how they solve it her boss got hit by a car and she's dead she was leaving
17:32work and she
17:33was hit by a car oh my god oh i cannot believe it i know that's kind of seinfeld asked

17:42have too much going on you do get to see monica not being respected at her new job uh the
17:49waitstaff
17:49just doesn't listen to her and there's another line that chandler's dad is gay is that something

18:04that is the return of phoebe's half-brother and his much older former teacher wife and they want to
18:13have a baby and they want phoebe to be the surrogate and she decides all right i'm gonna carry my

18:20brother's baby i'm gonna be giving someone the greatest gift you can possibly give you're gonna carry
18:26their child and get them a sony playstation also in this episode is a trump joke guess what job i

18:32got i don't know but donald trump wants his blue blazer black so now that i've like started watching
18:41friends i also like to do a little research and that has me looking at deleted scenes old cast
18:48interviews and finding out more and more about the show and that led me to a friends fan page
18:54that loves to share this clip as a blooper that was so funny they just left it in the show

19:02kind of carries more of the previous episode storyline the guys and the girls are all battling about
19:09switching apartments and the guys went a bet so they're over at monica's place and now monica and
19:15rachel have to go to where the boys are even though monica makes the place look super nice to make

19:21out of it rachel just does not want to move you know what she's not going to honor the bat
19:27and also
19:28it has this great line where phoebe's half brothers says my sister is going to have my baby
19:34my sister's gonna help my baby i can just imagine red foreman hearing that and giving one of those
19:41disapproving stares that he does 413 things are just not going well for rachel she's now been demoted so
19:49she's now just a personal shopper at bloomingdale's chandler and kathy are still going there are things
19:56still but it might be the end of that too kathy's an actress and she may be cheating on chandler

20:04her stage partner a part in a play how can you not trust me well you can understand given how

20:10started once a cheater always a cheater there's a lot of theories that didn't pan out lone gunman

20:46because you guys had a fight does not justify her sleeping with someone

21:05with this uh nice british girl i really liked her but like any sitcom she's just fought her right
21:13she's gonna get like close to getting the full marriage or run and then they're gonna
21:20put ross and rachel back together right well that's going on joey gets another acting gig and
21:27he interacts with charlton heston to cheer chandler up the girls take him to a strip club
21:34and this is one really 90s looking strip club that they go to and finally chandler realizes oh wait his
21:42three female friends he's always hanging around they're actually hot what are you blind how did you not
21:47know that let's make your heart beat faster i am totally picturing you with all those women 414 sees
21:54the return of janice and you know how like chandler was all about her last time that's over he's back
22:00to totally hating her can't stand her voice can't stand her laugh in fact instead of sticking with her
22:07because now she's divorced he'd rather go to yemen i thought you were crazy about her i know but you
22:13know all those little annoying things that she did before we fell in love you know like her voice and
22:18her laugh and her personality 416 sees them proving my point about rachel i think she only wants ross but
22:25she thinks she can't have ross because there's no like thing about ross that says i really want ross only
22:32the if i can't have ross that i want ross trust me you don't want ross hey you rachel finds

22:41that she's helping as a personal shopper and she's really attracted to him and she's hoping that he
22:48asks her out jennifer aniston is kissing co-star david schwimmer in france monday night on partner

25:07around ross ross wants to be with emily but emily's gone back to england joey's like yo that'd be
25:13creepy if you went to england to go get her uh let it happen naturally but monica's like no it's
25:19love go go to england go get her and ross does and she's not in england because actually she came
25:25back to america for him so monica was right but also had he listened to joey he wouldn't be listening
25:32to an answering machine out in the rain in england emily chose ross over colin she should have picked
25:39colin i don't even know colin but i bet he's better than ross this character emily uh played by helen
25:44baxendale uh and because of the romantic interest i've been kind of doing the long distance relationship
25:50thing with her uh london new york back and forth and uh we decided to to go all the way
25:57i guess and
25:58and get married so uh yeah it seemed to come pretty uh organically from the story which was nice
26:06and it works out for ross emily loves him too that i love you i love you too so for

26:15emily is now back over in the united states and she's gonna learn about ross's life a big part of
26:21ross's life is his ex-wife who's a lesbian and obviously they take care of his son so she's
26:29got to meet the son which means she's also going to meet susan and susan's partner oh look at you

26:36bonding and emily loves susan yeah they're going to the theater together they're going to dinner
26:46they're going horseback riding oh god poor ross we know how that's worked out before this is emily
26:55emily is straight how do you know i mean we thought carol was straight before i married her i did

27:00the episode where ross and his ex-wife susan both get jealous of the relationship that emily shares
27:07with susan's wife thinking wait what if she leaves susan for emily the same way susan left ross for her
27:17phoebe is very interested in what the baby she's carrying is going to be named and joey makes a
27:24very strong case for us joeys so he's your pal so he's your buddy where is everybody well they're
27:29hanging out with joey but the thing about joey is if you need him he'll be there that's why he's

27:35number one though if rachel keeps showing up in lingerie i i could bump her to four three on the
27:44list but then again uh as i made a note for 419 ross is a lot more chill when emily's
27:51around so he
27:52could actually go up a spot too maybe and the girls are able to finally win back their apartment
27:59how do they do it they promise to share a lesbian kiss maybe they could have won susan's apartment
28:06if they did something like that totally worth it it was one good minute and ross moves really fast
28:13because he asked emily to marry him why don't we why don't we what
28:23get married
28:26you are mad and she says yes yes
28:32and you know how rachel's gonna react because now ross is really unavailable so that makes him way
28:39harder something is wrong with you rachel you might actually drop down to six and now we got a
28:44wedding to plan for don't let monica in on it because something about being part of a wedding
28:53makes her act crazy she doesn't want to take the thing off in fact she's even cleaning in it at
28:59least
28:59she's got something on we also learned that joey sleeps butt-ass naked and phoebe did you know lisa
29:06kudrow was actually pregnant for real during the season clever art imitating life lisa's pregnant
29:12phoebe's pregnant i i can't distinguish between me and phoebe poor josh this guy like rachel wants him
29:20but now because ross is going to get married josh is an afterthought i guess i just figured that
29:28somewhere down the road he would be on again again you know what i think we all did i mean
29:37i kind of
29:38figured this is going to happen every season when they want to milk this relationship for ratings unless
29:44they stay together and get married have kids and progress that way but i mean i've kind of seen some
29:50spoilers in a sense and i don't really remember that being a thing i never thought it was going to
29:54weaken the show itself i knew that if anything you know it it would take the tension out of
30:00obviously the the courtship between the two of them um but of course the writing being i think as strong
30:06as it is they they took it in another direction finally had us had me turn into like mr insecure
30:12jealous guy had her kind of consumed with work and then us eventually split uh and uh and and so
30:19then
30:20we're kind of like angry with and then we get to be cats and dogs fighting all the time and
30:24and i
30:24think i think the attraction and the tension is still there and we'll continue to be there over
30:29over the years so josh is a smart guy rachel i mean you you know and now the reactions how
30:35i feel about
30:35rachel but also no josh stay away from this this is just not a situation you want to be in
30:41421 is basically
30:43one big clip show that kind of is how we got to this point and it's all framed around the
30:50idea
30:51that rachel is probably not going to be part of ross and emily's wedding it's going to be too hard
30:56for
30:57her is she going to accept the invite or not can ross even bring himself to give her an invite
31:02and
31:03emily is not wrong why would you want rachel around all of this you can see from a mile away
31:09she's going
31:09to sabotage everything oh so you invited rachel then sure why not really well i don't think i'd
31:18be comfortable having any of my old lovers there and it looks like rachel isn't going to be able to
31:23accept the thought of ross being with another woman so now ross needs to pick a best man
31:30it's chandler he's known chandler a lot longer but that upsets joey and when chandler messes up his
31:37best man duties joey's the best man from that one joey i want you to be my best man yes
31:45shame about
31:46you though but it's joey so he also messes up the best man duties the stripper they hire ends up
31:53robbing
31:53ross he no longer has the ring to give to emily and that just happened to have been a family
32:01heirloom
32:02this is like the second time that somebody has robbed joey but it turns out that the duck ate the
32:09ring and then just because this show really kind of gets me in a way that i didn't think it
32:13would
32:13we have another montage set to barry manilow
32:17and in a sweet moment both joey and chandler are going to be ross's best men and then because she's
32:28very hormonal from the pregnancy phoebe's gonna get bumped down i might actually move chandler
32:34above phoebe now in episode 423 we learned that phoebe's mom stuck her head in the oven to kill
32:41herself hey my mom used to put her head in the oven i actually only did it the one time
32:47but it's pretty
32:48weird now the gang is off to britain for the wedding everybody comes to london because ross has asked me
32:54to marry him and i say yes and um and so we arranged a big wedding in london in the
33:00um hall
33:01where my mom and dad got married um things go a bit wrong we got a wedding in england that
33:09phoebe
33:09can't go to because she's pregnant she was pregnant in real life i think phoebe wanted some plausible
33:14denial okay she she knew something bad was gonna happen so she wasn't gonna put herself in that mess
33:21this series finale is very very british we even have richard branson showing up as a
33:27guy selling tourist merchandise rachel realizes she can't let ross get married she loves him she's
33:35gonna stop the wedding and it seems like the universe is also kind of stopping the wedding
33:40the venue that they want to have the wedding at it's destroyed and even though they're in britain
33:46meeting princess bergie the duchess of wales they'd still rather watch cheers
33:58mainly joey's really excited to go sightseeing and chandler just hates the idea and joey you know is
34:05just 100 top to bottom tourist guy and uh embarrasses chandler and chandler gets mad at him they have a
34:13fight and then they kind of make up and then you know all hilarity rachel fearing what phoebe said is
34:22correct is gonna come to the wedding rachel if you go you're just gonna mess with his head and ruin
34:28his
34:28wedding and i'm gonna put her at six because what a douchey move to come and ruin this poor girl
34:35emily's
34:36wedding because you can't get over your own shit like if you and ross were meant to be together you'd
34:43be together i don't think you're meant to be together you know what no it's not over until
34:49someone says i do in the final episode of the season all right it finally happened chandler and
34:54monica have hooked up that just makes perfect sense and i'm not alone in my feelings that rachel is
35:02horrible even dr house yeah that's hugh lorry he hears rachel's story well you say you love this
35:10man and yet you're about to ruin the happiest day of his life i'm afraid i have to agree with
35:14your
35:14friend phoebes this is a terrible terrible plan he's the only sane one on this plane right now but he
35:22has to know how i feel but why he loves this this emily person no good can come of this
