00:00A Krispy Kreme, a dozen glazed donuts, man, fresh off the conveyor belt, I'll take that any day.
00:14Dribble, fake, shoot, miss. Dribble, fake, shoot, miss.
00:20Dribble, fake, shoot, miss. Dribble, fake, shoot, miss!
00:26Ball was our life. My brother and I always dreamt of becoming the greatest of all time.
00:32Dad is a baller with a championship ring. That's inspirational enough.
00:37Bro, basketball at the table. I'm about GPA, not NBA.
00:43Players are like actors. They need training. How do you train for your job?
00:51For basketball, yeah. I mean, me and Jalen had to go through rigorous training for the show.
00:59We hadn't had a lot of experience prior to filming, so we kind of had to just build a foundation
01:05and then also work on our skills, because we had to be basketball females.
01:10I mean, yeah, it was tough. It was tough. We ran a lot of drills, ran a lot of sprints,
01:16with a lot of form shooting. It was cool.
01:19And let's not forget the poetry classes that we also had to do simultaneously.
01:26That was fun. It was fun as well, because we got to learn things that otherwise we wouldn't know about.
01:35And it was kind of a happy medium, because you wake up in the morning,
01:39and you go to basketball practice, you sweat, you get tired, you get worn out,
01:44and then you come back, wind down, and now you're in a tranquil space,
01:48you know, expressing your words.
01:51And that was kind of a... I feel like that was...
01:54It was in time of, you know, the pandemic and everything, in the quarantine.
01:58But I would say that those were probably, like, that was one of the golden times.
02:03Like, I really enjoyed that schedule.
02:07There is a great understanding between you. How did you create it?
02:13Yes. So, you know, of course, we read the book over and over again.
02:20So the book was kind of... that was the bones of it.
02:23But it's different when you kind of bring something to life in a show, to TV,
02:31because you have to stay true to the book.
02:33And, like, that's kind of a manual, accurate feel to it,
02:36because what the book did so greatly is take us on a journey, right,
02:44that we were enticed with, that we just wanted to hear more and more.
02:48But when you have to do that with a show, it's facial expressions,
02:53it's mannerisms, it's clothing, you know.
02:58And that... we had conversations about that, like, one-on-one
03:02with the designers and the scriptwriters.
03:06And that was all of us getting in tune with each other
03:11to make this, you know, the best it can be.
03:14Amir, in the series, you wear Basquiat's T-shirt.
03:17What was it your choice?
03:21It wasn't my choice, but, I mean, I love Basquiat.
03:23I think I wore Basquiat when I was in Florida.
03:27You know, it's great clothes.
03:28I feel like... I'm really happy to incorporate that.
03:31I feel like, you know, Basquiat...
03:36It's almost like a part of our culture, in a way.
03:38You feel what I'm saying?
03:39So, I mean, yeah, it wasn't my choice, but it was a great idea.
03:44In the end, Donuts or basketball?
03:49Donuts.
03:50Donuts or basketball?
03:53Donuts.
03:53I'm sorry.
03:54I'll say basketball.
03:55I'll say basketball.
03:56A Krispy Kreme dozen glazed donuts, man.
04:01Fresh off the conveyor belt.
04:03I'll take that any day.
04:04We go hard, just like we always had.
04:07No matter what, you're a net tied together.
04:10Let's rock this!
04:11We got this!
04:13Let's rock this!
04:14We got this!
04:15Let's rock this!
04:16We got this!
04:17Let's rock this!
04:20Let's rock this!
04:22Let's rock this!
04:22Let's rock this!
04:22Let's rock this!
