00:00Are we off?
00:00Yep.
00:01Great.
00:02To start with, just to set it up for people, who do you play and how do you fit into
00:06the story?
00:10In this movie, I'm Annie, a young woman,
00:19fighting for her creeds,
00:23that at the beginning is in love with Jim Terrier, played by Sean Penn.
00:30And after, for some reasons, he left her,
00:39she changes everything.
00:42She changes life and she marries the other character played by Javier Bardem, Felix Marti.
00:58So, she is between these two men.
01:06But Annie is not only a female character, so, between two men.
01:12But she is someone with a strong will, with a strong idea of what life has to be.
01:26So, why did you want to do it?
01:28I understand that it was, Sean had seen you in another film and that's where it sprung from.
01:34Yes.
01:35It was incredible because I was in this film called Honey by Valeria Golino.
01:43and Valeria is very close to Sean, they are friends.
01:48So, one day he saw the movie and this is the reason why we met in Barcelona with Pierre Morel.
01:58And then we, we rehearsed a lot, but yes, we met, I don't know if it's right to say, but
02:10by chance, a good chance.
02:13Yeah. And, and what did you expect from your first meeting with him, because he has a kind of a,
02:18an image that we all, we all think of him as this kind of,
02:22you know, he's a tough guy and he's really intense, but what's he like in person?
02:28Hi, he was very funny from the beginning. And for, um, who I am, um, it's strange to say, but
02:39it's not important the idea of the person that I have to, to meet,
02:45uh, but the, the person itself. So, um, meeting Sean was, for me, meeting someone.
02:55And he is funny. He is, he is smart. He is, um, sweet and deep. Everything. He is, he's very
03:08good.
03:09Yeah. But you are, I mean, you're caught between two very talented, but very different actors in him and Javier.
03:17Um, what was that like to watch close up? Because they're almost opposite in their approach, aren't they?
03:22Mm. They are, um, they are very different. And no, it was, um, it was a delight to watch it
03:32and to, to play with. So I was very, very more than lucky.
03:41So you wanna, um, I don't know if you've done a lot of action stuff before, but on a personal
03:46sort of practical level,
03:47what's it like to be in the middle of those sets when everything is blowing up and there's blood and
03:54squibs and things going off?
03:56Uh, you have to try to, um, to believe. I mean, it's, uh, it's strange, but it's like, uh, other
04:10kind of, um, other kind of cinema.
04:14And, uh, no, for me it was very funny. I was full of bruises and scars, but it was, um,
04:23there was something powerful.
04:26And not in the physical sense. Um, um, and then when you, when you, when you hear something exploding, it's
04:39real. So just react.
04:42Okay. And lastly, um, what, what makes this different from, um, other recent action films?
04:48Obviously people are gonna assume this is, um, Sean Penn's turn at doing a Taken or something, but it's not
04:53quite that, is it?
04:53But I think that maybe the reason why Sean is in this movie, uh, is that this is not an,
05:05only an action movie.
05:06There is, um, strong political issue behind, um, this action. So, um, this is the reason why, um, there is
05:19something, uh, that approaches, um, European cinema, I think. Um, and there is also a love story.
05:29Yeah. So, great. For everyone. Yeah. We cover everyone. Great. Thank you very much. That's lovely.
05:35Thank you very much. Thank you.
