00:00You ever use a bunch of AI tools at work and somehow feel more tired and fatigued than productive?
00:04Well, here's what's happening.
00:06AI brain fry is a new kind of mental fatigue that researchers from Harvard alongside Boston Consulting Group
00:11say some workers are experiencing these days.
00:14The idea is pretty simple.
00:16When people use AI tools all day, they're often doing three things at once.
00:19Writing prompts, checking answers, and switching between various AI tools.
00:24The workers in the study said it sometimes creates a foggy feeling
00:27where it's harder to focus or make decisions because they're relying on AI to do it for them.
00:31Using one or two AI tools often helps people work faster,
00:35but when workers have to manage too many at the same time, productivity tends to drop.
00:39And with the way corporate America is shifting these days,
00:42it seems like these effects are only going to snowball.
00:44The researchers found that AI works best when it removes repetitive work, not when it adds new tasks.
00:49They also suggest limiting how many AI tools people manage at once.
00:53And supporters of AI say this is just part of a transition.
00:57As the tools improve, AI will likely make work faster and easier.
01:01But critics say workplaces might be adding new technologies faster than they're redesigning the workflow itself.
01:07So what do you think?
01:08Is AI actually helping people work smarter,
01:10or are we accidentally making work more complicated than it used to be?
