00:02This morning, the United States and Iran can't even agree on whether they're negotiating,
00:07as Tehran sets out new demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
00:12President Trump told Axios on Sunday the U.S. is now low-keying talks with Iran,
00:17saying the two sides are only, quote, semi-negotiating.
00:21Iran says there are no formal talks, only messages being exchanged through intermediaries.
00:27And Tehran is now demanding the U.S. lift its naval blockade, withdraw forces from around Iran,
00:34lift sanctions, unfreeze Iranian assets, and pay damages from the war before the Strait fully reopens.
00:41Iran is also demanding a permanent end to the war against Iran and its allies.
00:46Vice President J.D. Vance, though, says talks are happening,
00:49and the immediate focus is getting more oil and gas through Hormuz.
00:53Yeah, where Iran is today, Kaylee, is that we're talking to the Iranians, of course.
00:59We're trying to maximize the amount of oil and gas that are coming out of the Strait of Hormuz.
01:03That's the thing that we're most focused on right now.
01:05And you see, I think, oil prices dipping around $80 a barrel today, sometimes a little bit lower.
01:11So we're just trying to make sure that we get what we need out of this particular conflict.
01:16Oil prices remain elevated with no deal yet to fully reopen the Strait.
01:20Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, rose to more than $84 per barrel, and the U.S. benchmark topped $78.
01:28And now another flashpoint, this one in the Red Sea.
01:31Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked the Yemeni port city of Mocha Sunday,
01:36killing at least seven people and injuring 30 others, according to Yemen's military.
01:41The attack used missiles and drones and hit both military and civilian sites.
