00:00I read the script, I've gone through it from rewrites at least 10, 15 maybe times, and there's a page
00:07that I hit every time, and I just, you're so invested in this dog and in this family and their
00:15relationship.
00:17It's a story of a marriage, and this dog that's in their life from, that spans a 15 year period,
00:24and you know, it's a story of how two people, as they do, meet, fall in love and have expectations
00:31of the future and their life and, you know, and all of the different avenues that it takes.
00:39John Brogan did this beautiful job of writing this memoir of the story that we get to now tell, and
00:47it's, because it's a true story, it's more than just a dog movie.
00:51They just, it's such a beautiful job with the script, and with the moments, because with these things that happen,
00:56because it's true, and you think, well, this couldn't happen, there's no way this could actually have taken place, and
01:02sure enough, it did.
01:04It's marriage, I think, it's children, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's career, it's, it's ego, it's, you know, success versus
01:13failure, or competition, or I'm not doing as well as you, all of these things that I think universally affect
01:18people at some point, you know, in a, in a relationship, and, and, you know, disappointments, and then the love
01:25of an animal, which God knows,
01:29If you don't have an animal, I highly suggest having it at one point in your life, because it does
01:34sort of, you know, dogs are, especially dogs, they're so unbelievably unconditional, and all they want to do is strictly
01:43love you.
01:44The arc of her, that takes place for Jenny, is one from a very kind of free-spirited, fun, kind
01:55of out there kind of girl, to an overwhelmed, and very successful at her job, to a very kind of
02:02overwhelmed, flawed, emotional, taxed woman with kids.
02:09It's a nice journey that she takes.
02:12It's an out-of-control animal that somehow teaches them and trains them for their children, for tolerance, with each
02:23other, with their children, with their lives, themselves.
02:28Owen Wilson is just, he's just great. He's so good at his job. He's so professional. He's such a generous
02:37actor.
02:37We have so much fun playing off with each other, and I think this is a really good role for
02:43him, to really see, he has some moments that are just really special.
02:49He's one of the loveliest, kindest men. So gentle, so laid back, it all starts at the top, you know.
02:57The guy running the ship, and he's running such a beautiful ship, that we all would go anywhere for him,
03:02and he just has a beautiful eye, he knows exactly what he wants, and I have a lot of respect
03:09for him.
