00:29for acknowledging that. You know, not a lot
00:31of people acknowledge that they think
00:33comedy is easy or something.
00:36But it is challenging.
00:38But it's also
00:39really fun for me. It's always been where
00:41I
00:45thrive.
00:47But this movie was great,
00:49because I actually got to play a character,
00:51you know, like a rounded-out comedic
00:53character, whereas usually in
00:55comedies, especially the romantic
00:57comedies, you know, you walk
00:59or, you know, we could stretch
01:01reality a little bit here. You know, we could
01:03get into some
01:05really crazy stuff.
01:08Whereas
01:09other characters, you sort of walk this fine
01:11line, and when you're the girl, you're usually
01:13not too goofy, you know. I got to do
01:15a lot of this in How to Lose a Guy.
01:17So that, so it kind of felt more like that
01:19this time around, where I got to
01:20really sort of stretch myself
01:22and test.
01:25But you're not so mean with your
01:26friends. No.
01:27No, I can be tough.
01:30You know, I kind of feel like I demand my
01:32friends to be
01:35honest with themselves.
01:38But I am not...
01:40No.
01:42No, I'm definitely more fun
01:44than that.
01:46How is producing yourself?
01:49Hard. Challenging.
01:51Because you get really frustrated
01:52with things you shouldn't be concerned with as an
01:55actor. You know, so I'm
01:56in my head, you know, you're trying not
01:59to think about the fact that the next
02:01day, you know, you're
02:03gonna end up, you know,
02:05having a traffic issue
02:07because you can't get enough off-duty
02:09cops to block off
02:11the street or they pulled a permit
02:12for you that you were supposed to have
02:14that now you don't, and you can't shoot
02:17and you're trying to find a new location.
02:19So I'm thinking about these, you know,
02:22trying not to get too frustrated
02:23with those things
02:24and, you know,
02:27multitask,
02:29which was one of my ad-libs
02:30in the movie, which is
02:32do you know what kind of multitasker I am?
02:35Which was sort of a wink at my producing partner
02:38because it was challenging
02:39for me to multitask.
02:42Whereas Liv
02:43probably could do it way better than I do
02:45in real life.
02:47And I was working with
02:48Anne Hathaway, and why did you choose her
02:51for this role?
02:52Well, she was just, I mean, Emma,
02:56I just,
02:57for me, I felt like Anne
02:59was perfect for Emma
03:01and I was hoping that she would connect
03:05to the character, which she did
03:07when she read it.
03:09And I liked how different we are.
03:13You know, I liked that we're,
03:16it's apparent how different we are.
03:18And that kind of complements each other,
03:20you know, and it represents
03:21two different type of women
03:23that can come together
03:26and love each other,
03:28and support each other.
03:30And I thought that was a nice contrast.
03:36And Brad Woods is, in some ways,
03:38a film about family.
03:40And you lived your life
03:41with a peculiar family.
03:45Are they peculiar?
03:48And it was beautiful this morning
03:50during the press conference,
03:51hearing that for you,
03:52Kurt is your father.
03:55Yeah.
03:56And I'd like to know something
03:58about this, because I think
04:00it's very sweet.
04:02Well, you know, we have what you call
04:04a real broken home.
04:06You know, it's like,
04:08my brothers are my brothers,
04:10but I have a full, a step,
04:12and a half brother.
04:14But I don't see any of them
04:16any differently.
04:20And, you know,
04:21Kirk came into our lives
04:23when I was about three and a half.
04:26And at the time,
04:28you know, he, I think,
04:30really connected with my brother and I,
04:32and he had a son of his own.
04:34And, you know,
04:35when they fell in love,
04:36my dad made it very clear
04:38to all of us that no matter what,
04:39and this is who they are as people,
04:41my parents,
04:42is that no matter what,
04:43that they'd always,
04:45that they'd always make,
04:46the kids come first,
04:48and that he wasn't going anywhere
04:50in our lives,
04:51no matter what happened
04:52with him and my mother.
04:53And that was huge for us as kids
04:56to learn about relationships
04:58and love.
04:58And with that,
05:00our family always started off,
05:02starts off with honesty.
05:04You know, we tell each,
05:05we tell each other how we feel.
05:06and, um,
05:09so we kind of have this great,
05:11solid fam.
05:13And it's, uh,
05:14you know,
05:16really meaningful,
05:17especially in this business,
05:18because we are a very creative family.
05:21Um, you know,
05:22two movie star parents,
05:24and then I start working in the business.
05:26My brother's on a very successful television show
05:29in the States.
05:30We're, we're all in the business in some way.
05:33And, um,
05:34but somehow that is,
05:36I mean,
05:36it's so in the distance
05:38when it comes to family matters
05:40and matters of the heart.
05:41And, um,
05:43so it's kind of,
05:44it's pretty great.
