00:00I suppose we're headed to work.
00:01Going to an island.
00:02Punch it, Chewy.
00:03We are headed over to meet the Iredale family.
00:06They are looking to fix camp up for their older mother.
00:10About 25 years ago, there was a for sale sign,
00:13and my mother just fell in love with it and bought it.
00:15Just make sure the water's turned off.
00:17Woo-hoo!
00:18Oh, my word.
00:20Meet our new plumber.
00:21Good.
00:21I'm not the new plumber.
00:23Let's go, Ryan.
00:24Right down the pike, Heidi.
00:25Oh, you got it.
00:26Ryan, Ryan, Ryan.
00:26Go two, go two, go two.
00:29Look at this.
00:30It's magnificent.
00:40Oh, it got hot.
00:41Right?
00:43Nice day.
00:43I wonder where we're going.
00:44To go swimming?
00:45That duck has the right idea.
00:47I bet there's a project involved somewhere.
00:49There always is a project involved, Ryan.
00:50By now, we know when Chase tells us to meet us somewhere.
00:53We're going to see a cabin.
00:54I wonder what he's picking us up in.
00:55Hopefully something wicked fast.
00:57Right?
00:58Jet boat?
00:59Yeah.
00:59A speed boat.
01:01I see a pop-pop pontoon coming at us.
01:03Put the pedal to the metal.
01:05Hope you put your sunblock on.
01:07Ashley wants him to show up in a bass boat sometime.
01:09I do.
01:09A really fast one.
01:10Eh!
01:11I suppose we're headed to work.
01:13Going to an island.
01:14Punch it, Chewy.
01:16That little bit of breeze is nice.
01:18We are on Morena Cook Lake.
01:20Headed over to meet the Iredale family.
01:23Iredales?
01:24Iredales.
01:26They've owned the camp for 20 to 30 years.
01:28We're meeting John, Anna, Dan, and Tina.
01:30John and Anna are looking to fix the camp up for their older mother.
01:35That duck is my friend.
01:37He swam all the way over here.
01:38That's a goose, Ashley.
01:39How's the difference?
01:42That's not my duck friend.
01:44You didn't play duck, duck, goose as a kid.
01:46I did, but now that I'm thinking about what is the difference between a duck and a goose.
01:49Anybody?
01:52What's the difference?
01:53Geese are bigger.
01:56Hi.
01:57Hey, guys.
01:59Hey.
02:00I've been coming to Maine since I was a child.
02:02What a spot.
02:04And my favorite thing about coming to the island is you come here and you relax.
02:10I'm excited to check this place out.
02:12It's a place where you can just sit on the porch and watch time go by.
02:18So tell us a little bit about the history of the camp.
02:21This camp was part of Camp Moranacook.
02:23This was the camp director's house.
02:25What we're standing on right here was the ball field.
02:28And then scattered on this piece of property were eight bunk houses for the eight and under kids.
02:34Plus a ball field?
02:35Yeah.
02:36It's good use of space.
02:37Yeah, it takes.
02:38That's the first thing I noticed.
02:39Like, the flat.
02:40That's the first thing you noticed was that this used to be a baseball field.
02:42Yeah.
02:42No, no.
02:42There's a flat, huge lawn on an island is not something you typically see.
02:46No, it's not.
02:47Until we see someone bring a lawn mower on an island.
02:49About 25 years ago, there was a for sale sign.
02:52And my mother just fell in love with it and bought it.
02:54That's awesome.
02:55Yeah.
02:56She's now 92.
02:57Just came up this past summer.
02:58That's awesome.
02:59Yeah.
03:00Looks like you had some work done already.
03:02Yes.
03:02The roof was starting to leak.
03:04And we wanted to make sure that it didn't fall apart before you guys got here.
03:09Looks like you've already replaced some of the shingles.
03:12Yeah.
03:12So what are you looking to have done?
03:15What we'd love to have is a little porch in that area if at all possible, which would
03:20be screened in.
03:21Have your dinner away from the bugs.
03:24Did that used to be a deck there?
03:28Yeah.
03:28It did, yes.
03:28That was a deck.
03:29I see the door on the other side.
03:30That's why we want to fill it in.
03:31That's where the screened in porch would be.
03:34That would be easier, yeah.
03:35You want to keep all of this open.
03:36Right.
03:37Now, is there any colors that you'd like us to leave into?
03:40We trust your judgment.
03:41I think it would look good painted a greenish blue.
03:44That'd be great.
03:45Yeah, we don't spend a lot of time on the Exio.
03:46This is just a freshen up job, right?
03:48Absolutely.
03:48I think the only thing that we really want to make sure is that we just keep it rustic, simple,
03:53and functional.
03:53You know, we don't want to change the identity of the island.
03:56We just want to work with what's here.
03:57It looked brand new when Ashley's done painting it.
04:00Let's take a walk inside.
04:01Okay.
04:07Cool.
04:08Welcome to our home.
04:10I see the kitchen doesn't really have much of a flow to it.
04:12No flow.
04:13Yeah, not much of a kitchen to begin with.
04:14What we ended up doing was putting tables against that wall, and that kind of served as our counter space.
04:18Gotcha.
04:19You need more counter space.
04:20Yes, definitely more counter space.
04:22Definitely.
04:22More drawers to put things in.
04:24So you just want to make this much more functional.
04:26Give it a better flow.
04:28Fireplace stays.
04:29You still use it, I'm assuming?
04:31Yes.
04:31Yes.
04:32And then kind of just make this more of the interior living space.
04:36Yeah, absolutely.
04:36This is like the hub of the cabin.
04:39You know, it's where we cook, hang out.
04:40There's not great lighting, so maybe adding in some lighting.
04:43We were thinking of, like, upgrading this room.
04:45This is kind of a game room.
04:46The space behind the fireplace is a game room?
04:49It would be like putting a round card table.
04:51Cool.
04:51And, like, kind of an area to play games.
04:53Okay.
04:53So there's three bedrooms upstairs, but we're not doing much up there.
04:57Yeah.
04:59Okay.
05:00Back here is kind of an L-shaped shed.
05:02Okay.
05:02So what we were thinking is we'd like to turn the storage area downstairs into a fourth bedroom.
05:07That's kind of where you envision a kind of private sleeping area and then the screen and porch off that?
05:13Absolutely.
05:14Okay.
05:14But we don't want to lose the camp feel.
05:16We can guarantee that is not going to happen.
05:20We'll go take a look around.
05:21We'll meet you right out there.
05:22Okay.
05:22All right.
05:23Thanks.
05:25This place is funky.
05:27Oh, yeah.
05:27Are we doing anything in this bathroom?
05:29No.
05:30It looks nice, actually.
05:31That's a nice bathroom.
05:32We're doing nothing in there.
05:33Nope.
05:33This will be a game room.
05:37This is the workshop.
05:38This is where the screen and porch would be.
05:41What would this be?
05:42I think they're saying keep this kind of the utility room slash workshop space.
05:47Oh, so then you'd walk through the utility workshop space to get to this back room.
05:51Okay.
05:51This was more storage space.
05:55This would make a nice back room.
05:57Right?
06:00This is an exit.
06:02Oh.
06:03You couldn't even tell that was a door.
06:04I didn't either.
06:05So we'll have to wall this off for privacy.
06:07On the exterior, we'll do a bit of jacking and leveling, add a screened-in porch to the
06:11back, new windows where needed, and fix some of the shingles.
06:15On the inside, we'll remodel the kitchen, add some windows, and we'll create a bedroom
06:18out of the storage space in the back of the camp by adding walls.
06:22You have a funky place here.
06:24Very funky.
06:25Yeah.
06:25You've got a lot of apple boxes here.
06:26Yeah.
06:27Maybe we could make something out of them.
06:29Aw, nice.
06:29Yeah.
06:29That's great.
06:31What's your timeframe for getting the work done?
06:34Well, Tina and I are leaving for Japan.
06:37Wow.
06:38So we're hoping by the middle of October.
06:40Probably eight weeks would put us right around the middle of October.
06:44Yeah.
06:44And so what do you have to put into the project financially?
06:48$50,000.
06:50$50,000 and eight weeks.
06:52I think that's all reasonable.
06:54We just need a set of keys.
06:55Here you go.
06:56All right.
06:57Have fun in Japan.
06:58See you in October.
06:59Yeah.
07:00Nice.
07:01You know, it's a place where families get together, and we want to keep the legacy going for the
07:06next generation to have.
07:07Let's call the guys.
07:09All right.
07:09You say it.
07:10No.
07:10You say it.
07:11It's your line.
07:11No, it's your line.
07:11I don't think it's only my line.
07:13It is.
07:19So you were saying this was part of a summer camp?
07:21Yep.
07:22Set up the volleyball net.
07:26Today we're on Miranda Cook Lake out on Birch Island.
07:30Come on in.
07:32Classic.
07:34Classic old camp.
07:36So give them a new kitchen?
07:37New kitchen.
07:38Yep.
07:39If we want continuous countertop on the water side, we'll probably need to replace those
07:44windows with something a little shorter.
07:45Yep.
07:46To get it up above countertop height, and possibly put more windows just to let more light into
07:51the space.
07:51What do we want to work on first?
07:53I think if we get those cabinets pulled out today, I mean, they're not salvageable or anything
07:57like that.
07:57No, they look pretty rotty.
07:58Hammer.
08:00Flap bar.
08:04Come on.
08:08Yeah.
08:08Yeah.
08:09Heavy.
08:09Gotcha.
08:10Okay.
08:12Wow.
08:13Yeah.
08:16Hey, we're pulling apart the sink base.
08:19Yeah.
08:19Just make sure the water's turned off.
08:21You got to shut off right there, right?
08:22I already shut them all off.
08:24Okay.
08:24I'm just going to sawzall above them.
08:25The drain's just got a hose clamp on it.
08:27Come on.
08:31Woo hoo.
08:32Holy moly.
08:45You want to go shut the pump off?
08:47No.
08:48You got it.
08:49Lefty loosey righty tighty Brad.
08:51Yeah.
08:52That's all right.
08:52I took the brunt of it.
08:53Yeah.
08:54Yep.
08:54Brad and I were pulling apart the sink base.
08:57Is there a shut off outside underneath, maybe?
08:59He had thought he turned the valve off, but it was actually already off and he turned
09:03it on.
09:04Yeah.
09:04We got it.
09:05We made a quick cut into it.
09:10And washed the floor.
09:11Good to wash the floors.
09:13And my shorts.
09:13And your shorts.
09:15What's the correct way to do that?
09:17Just make sure the water's turned off.
09:20Nice job, Bradley.
09:25I'll screw it down nice.
09:27Not really.
09:40Doing a big window right there is going to let a ton of light in.
09:42Oh, it will be huge.
09:43And then taking those windows, lifting them up higher to get up above countertop height.
09:50Kitchen's for preparing the meals.
09:52And everybody hightails it out onto a porch.
09:54And that's why they want the screen in porch to have somewhere bug free to eat.
09:58Yep.
09:59All right, that's not too bad.
10:00It looks like we got a pretty good slate.
10:02Yeah.
10:03Old workshop.
10:04Hey, Jared, come here.
10:06The old Camp Miranda Cook sign.
10:08Oh, yeah.
10:10That'd be cool.
10:10Maybe if Ashley could do something with that.
10:13Jared and I thought it would be a cool idea maybe to suggest to Ash if she would use that
10:18for one of her special projects.
10:20We'll put that in the save pile.
10:22Sure.
10:23I think it'd be cool to reuse it and see it back in the camp.
10:25All right, let's move out back.
10:27Okay.
10:28Let's go look out back.
10:30Chase, paint roller and a roller.
10:32You know, we've got a nice big covered porch that goes along most of the one side of the camp.
10:39All kinds of shingles.
10:40And then there's a break.
10:44I want to go around the front with us, Matty.
10:46It'll probably make its way to the burn pile.
10:48So we're just going to fill in the space and put a new deck, cover it over, and that will
10:52be the new screened-in porch.
10:54Well, if we're putting a deck here, I'd say we'd start by shuring up a little bit.
10:57Yeah, we need to make sure that everything's stable, that's existing, before we start adding more to it.
11:03Nothing really scary, but we definitely need to shure up the underpinning of the camp.
11:10Can we pull this trim board off?
11:12Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
11:14They try and hide it on us.
11:15Ooh.
11:16Whoa-ho!
11:17That's getting replaced.
11:19Oh, and look, they're living right in there.
11:20Yep.
11:20Those little suckers.
11:22Look at them go.
11:22Oh, wow, look at the ants.
11:24Woo!
11:26Oh, there's your egg nest.
11:27There's your nursery.
11:28Look at that.
11:29Oh, my word.
11:31Look at them go.
11:33Yeah, so we found an active carpenter ant's nest in one of the carrion beams.
11:38Oh, boy, this whole thing needs to come.
11:41I've seen worse.
11:42I've seen better.
11:43Toothless termite walks into a bar and says, hey, where's the bartender?
11:49It's all going to get replaced.
11:51Well, they're already making their way out of Dodge.
11:53Yeah.
11:54So that should get rid of the ant problem.
11:56Right?
11:57Start at this corner.
11:58Yeah.
11:58Work right around.
11:59Get that replaced.
12:00Stabilize, stabilize, stabilize.
12:02Build your platform.
12:03Mm-hmm.
12:03Got the rafter pattern.
12:05Come out with rafters.
12:06Doorway out onto the regular porch.
12:09And then it's the kitchen.
12:12Replacing, repairing windows.
12:14And paint.
12:15And paint and just stabilizing the rest of it.
12:18Yep.
12:18Those are the big projects.
12:20Doable.
12:21Perfect.
12:21Let's get a barge and some materials.
12:23Yep.
12:24Sounds good.
12:33Are these going here, too?
12:39Good old man ingenuity.
12:42Last week, the boys were able to get all the materials out here, which was a huge accomplishment.
12:47Watch out, baby.
12:49I got a tail.
12:56We're going up to the top.
12:57They've got the carrion beam in and the rot replaced.
13:03The ender is 80 and three quarters.
13:06So today, we're going to be putting the floor system together for the covered porch and hopefully
13:11getting it sheathed by the end of the day.
13:13This one's good.
13:14I'm going to nail that one off.
13:18We're cruising over here.
13:32Working out on the island at Iredale.
13:34We've already got the rafters all cut and installed today.
13:38We're going to get it sheathed over to make it weather tight.
13:40We'll start out by taking a few measurements and make sure we're running square with the
13:44tails of our rafters.
13:46Nice to walk up here now.
13:48Yeah.
13:50And just start laying them a little at a time.
13:52Lovely.
13:54The guys have been doing a great job blending everything together and I think the homeowners
13:59are going to be very happy.
14:01Perfection.
14:13This morning, we have Benny working on all the old windows he's going through, putting
14:18new glass in them, glazing them, sanding them down, getting them ready for paint.
14:25Art's working on getting the corner boards and the trim ready for screens and also ready
14:30for us to see the shape the front of the new addition.
14:34Just working on sheathing for this bedroom.
14:39This area right here is what we added.
14:57All right.
14:57Thanks for the ride, Hunter.
14:59Thanks for the ride, Hunter.
15:00Nice boat.
15:01All right.
15:03Off to work now.
15:04Oh, that color came out nice.
15:06Today we are at the Iredale Island and it is in construction day.
15:11The painters beat us to work.
15:13Hi, guys.
15:15The color looks great.
15:16Looks good all cleaned up.
15:18Looks really good.
15:19New color, new windows.
15:21New porch.
15:21I didn't even notice.
15:22I didn't even notice at first.
15:23It looks like it's been here forever.
15:24What's the plan for today?
15:25We're going to be putting in new floors in the bedroom, new floors in the addition porch.
15:30We'll be going through and trimming out windows, brightening everything up.
15:33Does this mean you're my boss today?
15:36Yes.
15:36Great.
15:37Perfect.
15:37Yeah.
15:38Good luck with that, Hunter.
15:39Good luck with that.
15:39Yeah.
15:39Good luck with her, Hunter.
15:41Keep her out of our hair, please.
15:43It's almost lunchtime.
15:50Oh.
15:54The kitchen is now gone.
15:56I was unable to make it to demo day, so I haven't been here in a few weeks.
16:00I just wanted to take a look around, check out the place.
16:03Since I've been here, they've demoed the kitchen, put in some new windows.
16:06Looks good, guys.
16:08They were busy.
16:09Oh, that's nice.
16:11Look at this new porch.
16:12I like how the exterior wall is here.
16:15It's really pretty.
16:17So this is the new bedroom.
16:19Looks like they walled it off, got us some new windows.
16:23Very nice.
16:26All right.
16:27So they painted these to match the new shakes that they put up.
16:32The homeowners wanted a nice, pretty blue.
16:34Kind of similar to what they had, so I think this is going to work out perfect for them.
16:39Ashley, help me sweep this up.
16:40I'll do some sweeping, I guess.
16:41Let's get it cleaned up and get the floor down.
16:43Oh, I have a question.
16:45Yes.
16:45Why are we putting finished flooring down on this floor?
16:48Isn't the water going to come through the screen porch?
16:50We did a big overhang.
16:51You did a big overhang?
16:52Yep.
16:53I didn't notice.
16:53Don't you fret, Frida.
16:54You get two more and that's it.
16:56No, my question, uh-uh.
16:57My questions are legit.
16:59It's just always been a running joke between, like, Ashley and her brother, and usually you
17:04have to tell her she gets three questions.
17:07It's Friday.
17:07Let's get the floor down.
17:08It's a screened-in porch.
17:09I'm just wondering why.
17:10I think this floor looks great the way it is.
17:12Chats out with one.
17:13Putting a floor in here?
17:15Yep, but not until it's painted.
17:17And then when you're done explaining, then she usually just, you know, fires them off at you.
17:21See those holes?
17:22Let's take that wood that we're going to put on that floor and put it on these walls.
17:25It's not.
17:26Ashley, those aren't finished trim, so once they put the trim, you won't see through.
17:30What are you talking about?
17:31Hunter, get a hold of your employee.
17:33Yeah, control your employee.
17:35She's asking way too many questions.
17:38Yeah, yeah.
17:39Did you get me here to give me a promotion?
17:40Yeah.
17:42It's actually a demo.
17:43Yeah, you demoed me?
17:44Are you letting me out?
17:45I need to do crawl.
17:48A crawl.
17:49A new boss suggested I sweep the ceiling so that the painters can come in and spray it
17:54out.
17:54Hunter usually is a great boss, but today, he sold me out.
17:58There are spiders falling down on my head.
18:01I wonder if Ryan wants to switch.
18:07Not a good job for someone that doesn't like spiders.
18:12Cobwebs, spiders.
18:14Gosh.
18:16People sweep your ceilings at home.
18:19The worst jobs in the construction site.
18:21Well, today, the good ones are probably what Dixie and Hunter are doing.
18:25Putting down flooring.
18:26Easy.
18:28Painting.
18:28That's okay, too.
18:29The worst up here are sweeping the spiders off of the ceiling.
18:32Oh, guys.
18:32Look at that.
18:33See that?
18:34This is all what's falling on my head.
18:36And then Cullen would be second.
18:41My wife doesn't know a good time when she gets off her run.
18:49That's too many spiders in that corner to even try to get.
18:53Today, my new boss told me to get Cullen.
18:56Oh, wrong pile.
19:00I'm all about efficiency.
19:02And now, for the next week or two, the people come out, they know what board it is.
19:04They're not looking around.
19:06And they're not going to go cut something longer than they should or they shouldn't.
19:09So, I'm now a culinary expert.
19:11Not of the kitchen type, but of stacking boards in sizes.
19:15And you're only as good as your culler.
19:16Ash, you want to help me cull?
19:17No.
19:18The couple that culls together works well together.
19:19Couple that I'm not culling nothing.
19:27Hey, Chase.
19:28These apple boxes here.
19:29You know how they want that room in there to be a game room?
19:31Maybe we could use these to make some sort of, like, shelving system.
19:35They said that they love to play games.
19:37Maybe, like, putting a round card table.
19:39Cool.
19:40And, like, kind of an area to play games.
19:41Okay.
19:42So, I think it would be kind of cool to take the apple boxes and make some wall storage for
19:46their games.
19:47Make sure you clean them up first.
19:49You don't think that they want that big, huge cobweb in there?
19:52Yeah, no.
19:53I'll clean them up.
19:56Lovely.
19:57Last board.
19:58Last board.
19:59All right.
20:01Hey, would you like me to nail on your last board for you?
20:03Too many questions.
20:05That's it for the day.
20:05No, my question?
20:06Uh-uh.
20:08Does it fit?
20:09Lovely.
20:11It fits.
20:12Nice job.
20:13Sweet.
20:14Nice.
20:15Looks good.
20:16What is happening in the middle of the floor here?
20:17The dogs are wrestling.
20:18Aw, good boy.
20:19You look like show dogs.
20:20They're so happy.
20:22Who was the VIP of the day?
20:24Um, I think everybody did a great job.
20:28They had a boy, Hunter.
20:30Ashley could have put in a little more effort.
20:32Yay!
20:35How much did you have to pay that for?
20:38No, it looks great.
20:38Nice work today.
20:39All right.
20:39Great job.
20:41We're going home, Hunter?
20:42All right.
20:43I know you just had to say that because Chase was here.
20:46Oh, stop.
20:57Hello.
20:58Hi, Ashley.
20:59John.
21:00Yeah.
21:00Hi.
21:01Hi.
21:01Welcome to Kent's Hill Orchard.
21:02Thank you so much.
21:03Yeah.
21:04Bagging up some apples?
21:05I am.
21:06We are at Kent's Hill Apple Orchard.
21:08What kind of apples are these?
21:08They're big.
21:09These are Brock.
21:10It's apple season.
21:11Apple season in Maine is awesome.
21:13So, well, we have a project and I found all these cool old apple boxes.
21:17And so then I was like, well, you know, I haven't been apple picking.
21:19Yeah.
21:19I haven't made an apple pie this year.
21:21Yeah.
21:21So I figured, you know, I drive by here all the time.
21:25Yeah.
21:25So I just thought I'd stop in.
21:26So I am here for two reasons today.
21:28My first reason is to pick apples.
21:31They're huge.
21:31They are.
21:32This is the biggest apple.
21:33We bred them for size, but also for heartiness.
21:36My second reason for being here today is to get some apple boxes for my apple box shelf.
21:42Would you be willing to part with any?
21:44For you guys?
21:45Anything.
21:46Yes.
21:47At the Iredale camp.
21:49When I do picking, I pick into these boxes.
21:52Okay.
21:53And if you were to go picking commercially, you'd have to wear a picking outfit.
21:58You want to try one?
21:59What's a picking outfit?
22:00I don't know about this.
22:01What's a picking outfit?
22:02A picking bucket.
22:04I can do that.
22:05Yeah.
22:05You take that down if you want, down to row nine.
22:08We've got Cortland's and some other varieties down there.
22:11Okay.
22:12Because you want to grab the apple.
22:14Yeah.
22:14Right?
22:15You want to twist it a little bit.
22:16And you can put your thumb in there and pull it off.
22:20Normally, when I come pick apples, it goes like this.
22:22I've got a little paper bag, and I go, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit.
22:26You know, I eat a bunch.
22:28Very good.
22:29This is a good one.
22:32Do I have enough for a pie yet?
22:34Yes.
22:35Now release everything and then slowly lift up.
22:38There you go, little babies.
22:40There you go.
22:42And then, woo!
22:44That's the best part I like.
22:46Thank you very much.
22:47I appreciate it.
22:48This was really fun.
23:01So today, we're here on beautiful Moranacook Lake.
23:04The boys have been hammering right along on the kitchen cabinets.
23:14Booyah.
23:15Things are moving right along out here.
23:17All righty.
23:19So here are the boxes from the island.
23:22And then these are my new apple boxes.
23:25Today, we are at the back 40.
23:27I have the wooden boxes here, the ones that I got from the apple orchard.
23:30And I'm just going to kind of see how I want to make shelving for the Iredale game room.
23:34First thing I need to do is pound some nails in and blow these out because they're still grimy.
23:40These boxes are old.
23:41You know, they've been out in the weather.
23:44So they need a little love.
23:45So first things first is get rid of all the dust, spiders, cobwebs, all the stuff that's in the boxes.
23:50So I sprayed them out.
23:51Woo!
24:02And then went through, I nailed in some of the nails that were coming out.
24:05Put a couple of small little nails in to really sturdy these up.
24:09Right now I can kind of just get an idea of the layout.
24:12During demo, Dixie and Jedi found this old camp sign.
24:17I'm going to put one shelf right here for the taller things maybe.
24:23Now that I have them kind of how I want them, I'm going to put the sealant on this.
24:29I'm going to let it dry.
24:30And then I will bring these back out to the island and install them.
24:35I've got a ton of apples.
24:37The only thing left is go do some baking.
24:43Perfect fall day in Maine.
24:48The colors are just popping.
24:50It's just amazing.
24:52And, oh, this sucks.
24:54I hate replacing pictures.
24:56Fat fingers, no patience.
24:59Not made for electrical.
25:00Come on, baby.
25:03A little basic plumbing.
25:05Today we're here at Iredale out on Morena Cook Lake.
25:08This room is darker than a pocket.
25:10The place looks amazing.
25:12The boys have done a fabulous job.
25:14They got the floors down in the new bedroom and painted it.
25:17They put in a screen door on the new covered porch.
25:20Just trying to light up my life.
25:22Today we are wrapping up a bunch of odds and ends.
25:25Oh, come on, baby.
25:26Replacing a few light fixtures.
25:28Now we're installing a lot of flush mount lights.
25:30Give you a little more headroom and a little more light.
25:33I am not good at this.
25:37This?
25:38Down to that.
25:39Yeah.
25:40I would have it.
25:40This is smooth, you guys.
25:43You guys made that?
25:44Right here.
25:45You made it right here.
25:46Kitchen looks absolutely gorgeous.
25:48Made it a little more user-friendly.
25:50Unfortunately, the boys had a little extra time,
25:52so they built an island for the center.
25:54That goes to the water supply.
25:57Well, then.
25:59Basically, what we have remaining here today
26:00is hooking the sink up
26:02and then installing the countertop.
26:06But unfortunately, Doug the plumber is working at another camp.
26:10Three-eighths too, though.
26:11Got it.
26:13Boy, you're putting Dougie right out of a job.
26:16No.
26:17Just the opposite.
26:18That's it.
26:19I made me miss him.
26:21I just grabbed everything.
26:22Yeah, I see that.
26:23Everything, even the kitchen sink.
26:25Even the kitchen sink.
26:28That right there.
26:29Yes.
26:30Can run off that line.
26:31Okay.
26:31That will go right to the faucet.
26:33Okay.
26:37Nope, they don't.
26:38All right.
26:38I don't have the right things.
26:41You don't have it.
26:42Yeah, this one side, I think that's half-inch,
26:44and it needs to be three-quarter.
26:46It's just the one wrong piece.
26:49So close.
26:50So close.
26:51I'll run and get the plumbing part we need.
26:53This is just a really simple reconnect kitchen sink,
26:58but no, I'm not a plumber.
27:00Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah.
27:09Hi, Triggy.
27:10How'd you know I was coming to work?
27:12Today we are at the Iredale camp.
27:14Awesome.
27:15Thank you very much.
27:16Woo.
27:16I have the boxes that I have fixed up,
27:19and I am going to install them.
27:21Oh, my goodness.
27:21You too.
27:22Come on, let's go.
27:23Let's go.
27:25Yeah, baby, look at that.
27:27It's definitely way lighter in here.
27:29Aw, it's my favorite Dixie.
27:30Oh, hey, look at that.
27:31What's up?
27:32I got something nice to add to this.
27:33You want to see what I did for you guys?
27:35Yeah, what'd you do?
27:36I baked.
27:37Ugh!
27:38What'd you bake?
27:39Apple crisp.
27:40Apple pie.
27:41Brought a homemade apple pie for the guys.
27:43Look at how crispy, how beautiful.
27:46Ashley did a fabulous job on the apple pie.
27:49It has a nice egg wash.
27:50Yeah, I know.
27:50It has a heart.
27:51She doesn't really cook all the time,
27:53but when she does cook, she does a good job.
27:55I think your countertop is here.
27:56What's up?
27:57What's happening?
27:58Did you get your right pieces?
28:02We'll see.
28:13Got it!
28:15Baby.
28:17There we go.
28:18Like a glove.
28:20Well, it's a lot of countertop.
28:24That will go there.
28:25That will go there.
28:27All right, drop her in.
28:28Oh, the plumber!
28:30The plumber's plumbed.
28:32Meet our new plumber.
28:33Doug.
28:34I'm not the new plumber.
28:36He is.
28:37Putting Doug out of business, Chase.
28:38Nope, I am not.
28:39Yeah, I think you are.
28:41I never want to do this again.
28:42Chase the plumber.
28:43How can you tell when it's ready?
28:44It'll shoot up and hit you in the face.
28:47All right.
28:48I gotta go grab some apple boxes.
28:50You gonna go straight up the wall?
28:52Are you gonna offset them?
28:53I had them.
28:54Here, let me show you the picture.
28:56One at the bottom.
28:58Then two.
28:59Then that's a sign from the old camp.
29:02It seems like this wall is a little bit shorter than I thought.
29:04So I didn't quite know the height and width of the wall.
29:09That guy right up there?
29:11No, I don't want it to hit the top.
29:13So now that we're here, I grab Jedi, and he and I are kind of placing him around.
29:16You want it, what, that way?
29:18Yeah, I like it right there.
29:19Right there, okay.
29:20To see exactly how we want to put them up.
29:25Yeah.
29:26You like that?
29:27Love it.
29:28Moved him around a bit and landed on having them kind of all together clumped in the middle of the
29:33wall.
29:34What about doing some sideys?
29:36Sideys are good too.
29:37It's gonna work great and it looks great.
29:39What do you think, Jedi?
29:40Love it.
29:41The wall is a little bit smaller than I'd originally remembered it.
29:44I'll use the other two to hang on this wall with maybe some family pictures in them.
29:48I think it will tie it in and look nice in the game room.
29:52Basically what we have remaining here today is doing last, and most importantly, a good clean-up, getting everything off
29:59the island.
30:00And my team's coming in and we will get it all decorated and beautiful.
30:04How did those photos even get up there?
30:06Oh no, now my room is caught in the...
30:08Somebody, hello?
30:09Oh, hey, Ash, I made it.
30:11Hey, I need you.
30:12Can you do me a favor?
30:13Oh yeah, of course.
30:14Oh, you're stuck.
30:16Can you read?
30:17Oh, jeez.
30:19Oh, that is like really stuck in there.
30:21Oh, there you go.
30:22Ah!
30:24This place looks great.
30:25Yeah, totally.
30:26I love the color.
30:27Yeah, I'm glad you could come out.
30:28I just wanted to kind of go over the game plan real quick.
30:30Okay.
30:30They really want this to be the game room, so we can get like a game table and some chairs
30:34or whatever.
30:35Great.
30:36Come on in here real quick.
30:37And then the new screened-in porch.
30:39Oh, I love this.
30:42I think a hammock would be nice in here.
30:44Okay.
30:44So the Iredales had a whole storage unit full of furniture for us to use.
30:51Yeah, that's right there.
30:52Perfect.
30:53That's it.
30:54Looks great.
30:55Yeah, it does.
30:57Very nice.
30:57Huge improvement.
30:58I don't know if you know this, but this used to be part of a boys camp.
31:02And this was actually the baseball field.
31:04Since we have quite a big team here today, I think we should have a game of wiffle ball.
31:10And winner, get some apple pie.
31:15I mean, you guys know me.
31:16Probably everyone will get a little.
31:20I should have asked if anyone knows how to pitch.
31:22I can pitch.
31:23Okay.
31:23Come on.
31:24Let's go, Ryan.
31:26Get on the pike, Heidi.
31:27Run, run, run, run.
31:28Oh, you got it.
31:29Run, run, run.
31:30Run, run.
31:31Go two, go two, go two.
31:33Keep going.
31:34Keep going.
31:34Stay on third.
31:35Stay on third.
31:38Wait, who made me first baseman?
31:40Oh.
31:43Run, Matty.
31:46What is happening?
31:47Hunter, bring him home.
31:48Move him up.
31:50Uh-oh.
31:51Two, right.
31:53Second out.
31:54Oh.
31:56All right.
31:57All right.
32:01Run, Hunter.
32:01Run, Hunter.
32:03You can't hit me with a bat.
32:07Matty, two.
32:09Loading him up.
32:11Oh.
32:12She's so nice.
32:13Matty.
32:14Where'd it go?
32:15Go, go, go.
32:20Boom.
32:21We won.
32:22All right.
32:23That's the game?
32:24Yeah.
32:24Good game.
32:25Good game.
32:26Good game.
32:27Good game.
32:28We're all on the same team.
32:30All right, guys.
32:32Hot apple pie.
32:33Ready?
32:34You got a bit of knife for that pie?
32:37You could chop a cheat out with it.
32:39We got to play a wiffle ball.
32:40We had apple pie and ice cream.
32:42Mm-hmm.
32:42Warm apple pie.
32:43Nice job, Ash.
32:44Thanks.
32:45Very good.
32:45Perfect fall day in Maine.
32:47That's one job.
32:48Looks like a home run.
32:58Oh, well, because my dominoes are falling over.
33:00Welcome to the game room.
33:02This is a hard puzzle.
33:05Think you can manage it?
33:08Today, we're at the Iredale camp.
33:09It's a beautiful fall day, and we are ready to give the cam back.
33:13Yeah, we got some checkers, some little kid games,
33:16some cribbage, some Chinese checkers, some backgammon.
33:20Looks good.
33:21Right?
33:21The Iredales had a whole storage unit full of old,
33:26antique furniture for us to use.
33:28Got any quarters?
33:29I wish I did.
33:30We could probably break into it.
33:38Oh, look!
33:39Oh, yeah.
33:40All right, we don't have time to play games,
33:42because they are on their way.
33:43This isn't our first rodeo with breaking into candy machines.
33:47Let's go meet them.
33:51Everybody excited about seeing the cabin?
33:54Grandma, are you excited?
33:56Excited?
33:57Yes.
33:58I want you to know you're approaching.
34:00Getting close.
34:02Woo-hoo-hoo!
34:03Chase and Ashley.
34:04Look at this place.
34:05They're the ones that worked on it.
34:07This is pretty cool.
34:08Oh, they worked on it.
34:09Hi!
34:11Oh, my!
34:12Whoa!
34:14Whoa!
34:14There it is in all its glory.
34:17Wow.
34:18What an awesome color.
34:19Look at that.
34:20Oh, my goodness.
34:21That's amazing.
34:22Hey!
34:24Woo-hoo!
34:24Hey!
34:25Hello, Jen.
34:26It's a beautiful day.
34:27Been a few weeks.
34:29There it is.
34:30Holy cow.
34:31How sweet.
34:31Yeah.
34:32So bringing my mother was just an incredible thing.
34:35This is a special place for her.
34:38Oh, isn't this gorgeous?
34:42I can't believe this.
34:44I'm just going to stay here.
34:47Nice to meet you.
34:48Yeah, this is Nancy.
34:50This is Nancy.
34:51Hi, Nancy.
34:52I was the first one to see this place.
34:54And she bought it.
34:55Good eye.
34:56Good eye.
34:56Right?
34:57Yes.
34:57I think we could get a chair for Mom.
34:59Absolutely.
35:00There you are.
35:02There you go.
35:02Good job, Mom.
35:03There you go.
35:04I mean, just at first glance, it seems a lot sturdier.
35:07You know what I mean?
35:08First thing we did, we got everything shored up
35:10and added on this screened-in porch.
35:14Kept with the cedar shakes.
35:16Yep.
35:16And just filled in as needed.
35:18Looks like it's always been there.
35:20Well, there's some new windows.
35:21And had painters come out and just get started on day one
35:25and just work their way right around the whole thing.
35:27Oh, it looks so good.
35:29I've always just felt like there's something missing
35:30because there's that huge space right in between the shed
35:33and the existing porch.
35:34And just having that new screened-in porch just really
35:36completes the cabin.
35:38Let's head on in.
35:38Yeah.
35:39All right.
35:40Let's go.
35:40I'm in love.
35:41It's just amazing.
35:42Let's see what it looks like.
35:45Look at this.
35:47It's magnificent.
35:50Oh, my gosh.
35:52Oh, my goodness.
35:53Look at that.
35:54Look at this nice kitchen now.
35:57I love the windows.
35:59Wow.
35:59That is so stunning.
36:01Grandma, look at that.
36:02It's just perfect.
36:04I love the cupboards, the kitchen counter.
36:08It's light and bright.
36:10Really did a beautiful job.
36:12More light in the kitchen, more countertop space.
36:14I love the windows.
36:15Yeah.
36:16I was curious how they were going to handle the windows, but
36:18because the windows wouldn't really allow any sort of
36:20counter space.
36:21But they did such a genius thing where they did those sort
36:24of half windows, and it looks great.
36:26Oh, my goodness.
36:27Oh, wow.
36:27Look at this.
36:29This is great.
36:30Wow.
36:31Game room.
36:31Look what you did with the boxes.
36:33Yes.
36:34Look at that.
36:35All of a sudden, I looked up, and there's the apple boxes,
36:37and I thought, wow, what a great idea.
36:39I found these boxes.
36:40Yes.
36:41So I went over to the apple orchard and grabbed a few more.
36:44Uh-huh.
36:44And then we decided, you know, to make this a nice place
36:47to store games.
36:48That was very clever.
36:49Yeah.
36:50Very creative.
36:51This is perfect.
36:51Next generation playing game boards, building puzzles.

36:55This is just...
36:56The game room is spectacular.
36:58One of my favorite things about the island was always playing
37:00games with my father.
37:01I just love that we're able to carry on our tradition playing
37:04games and puzzles in a fantastic new space.
37:06I love that it still feels like our camp.
37:08Yeah.
37:08Yeah.
37:08I was a little worried that maybe we'd walk into something
37:10that didn't feel like home anymore, but...

37:48And it seems like it was always here.
37:50Right?
37:50Yeah.
37:50Doesn't it?
37:51Yeah.
37:51You have that ability now to go in and have dinner and sit
37:56and talk without the bugs.

38:30And so painting everything, new floors by taking a little bit of it, adding this privacy wall
38:37right there.
38:38Yeah.

38:45When you come here, there's a lot of work, you know, and you always feel like you're
38:49just always working.
38:50And, you know, what they did was they took five years' worth of work away and they made
38:56it so that you can come out here and enjoy it.
38:58It's beautiful.
