00:05Oh, no.
00:12F***ing thing is half sunk.
00:15I mean, he ran out of the road.
00:17A real f***ing disaster.
00:20What the f***?
00:21Get that excavator over there and hurry the f*** up.
00:27On this gold rush, 24 nonstop hours with Klondike legend, Tony Beats.
00:36You've got to be kidding me.
00:38From training new recruits.
00:40What a f***ing job.
00:42To revealing another Beats family member.
00:45Okay, drag the f*** out there, Gus.
00:47And cashing in on record gold prices.
00:51Well, that should be pretty much a million bucks.
01:18You're getting older, but you're not slowing down.
01:20At all.
01:21Yeah, so.
01:22Maybe you slow down, you go backwards.
01:25There's something wrong with you, man.
01:27Tony's day starts normally enough with a visit from wife Minnie.
01:33If you would have told me that I would end up marrying that dude,
01:36you would have said, yeah, not in this lifetime.
01:38No, I don't think so.
01:40Yeah, but you're only one left.
01:41We had to run out of girls in that town.
01:43You're lucky I was still available.
01:44You'd be selling...
01:46No one else picked you up, Al.
01:48No, no, no.
01:49You would be living with your mummy.
01:50Well, so?
01:52The world would have never known you.
01:56Tony is spending the season living at his massive 1,200-acre Indian River operation,
02:02where he's been sluicing nonstop for months, while Minnie stays 40 miles away at the family
02:09base, Paradise Hill, where son Mike runs the Trommel.
02:17I'll have to buy a helicopter so he can hop back and forth.
02:21Sure, we'll get right on that.
02:23Do it while the gold price is high.
02:25Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:26$3,683.
02:28Well, that's doing okay, that gold price.
02:30What a time to be mining, aye?
02:33I still remember when we were selling it for $350.
02:36$300, $350.
02:39Those were skinny days, aye?
02:41Tony and Minnie came to the Yukon from the Netherlands over 40 years ago with just $300
02:49and built their kingdom from the ground up.
02:52You know, I think it's time for breakfast.
02:54Want to go to the kitchen, chick?
02:55Yeah, I am.
02:56Let's go to the kitchen.
02:57There you go.
02:59Let's go do that.
03:01Hey.
03:05Hey, guys.
03:06Hey, guys.
03:07Hey, guys.
03:14You got to take lots of honey, lots of sugar, so you'll be sweet all day, you know.
03:26What's your plan for the rest of the day?
03:28So our Monica's going to bring up the A50 today?
03:30Yeah.
03:31Do a rock rock.
03:33Well, that'll be good.
03:34It will be nice if we can smell some gold today.
03:37Yeah, see if we can get organized.
03:38And don't forget, you also have a visitor coming today, eh?
03:41Yeah, my brother is coming, isn't he?
03:43Yeah.
03:43Any other surprises?
03:45None that I know of.
03:46No?
03:46And if I would tell you, it wouldn't be a surprise.
03:49Not at all.
03:50I have to go back to the hill.
03:52Okay, let's do it.
03:53See you later.
03:53Gotta go, man.
03:54Hurry.
03:58Well, let's have a look, see what's all happened.
04:02Tony's first priority is to do his morning drive-bys in the Indian River Cuts.
04:09Do you even know how to drive?
04:14To get as much gold out of the ground as he can while the price is hot, Tony has built
04:20a 70-strong workforce, comprised of mostly new employees.
04:26So right now, we're running a little over 30 rock trucks, and I honestly don't know how
04:31many hoes it is.
04:31They've got to count them.
04:33Downtime on either wash plant costs Tony $8,000 an hour, so he needs to make sure his operators
04:41are firing on all cylinders.
04:45Okay, we'll see what came to commotion that we've got here this morning.
05:10Hey, I didn't know what to do, where the f*** you come from.
05:14F***, idiot.
05:17Where's dumb f***?
05:18F*** is in that f***ing rock truck.
05:21You're an absolute waste of f***ing time.
05:23F***, fella.
05:27So I'm going to go to the other cup, see what's happening down there.
05:33I have my days.
05:37I'm usually nicer in the morning than in the afternoon.
05:44Hey, stupid f***.
05:47There's some fat f*** around here.
05:52Maybe I'm maturing a little bit and I'm getting more polite.
06:03Let's have a peek over the heads.
06:05Let's have a peek over the heads.
06:07This is still no f***ing good.
06:09And it's still a f***ing f***ing dits all the f***ing way down.
06:13Not worth a f***ing.
06:14So, have a nice f***ing day.
06:18Oh, I'm on a roll.
06:20Hi.
06:30You know, we have some real good people.
06:34Right?
06:35Our core is very good.
06:36And some people, you just don't know.
06:38All they need is an opportunity.
06:43We're going to go see Austin here right now.
06:46So we'll just see.
06:50Rookie operator Austin LePage is opening more ground
06:54using the 100-ton 950 excavator,
06:58the biggest in Tony's fleet.
07:00It's a whole different experience running 950 compared to a 349.
07:09Not used to it at all.
07:13See?
07:15He misses a half the bucket.
07:17What a f***ing job.
07:19Be way better off doing it myself.
07:22Austin, do you copy?
07:24Austin, do you copy?
07:25Go ahead, Tony.
07:27Get the f***ing job.
07:34Let's see if I can do this.
07:41Whoa, lady!
07:43You hit the brakes.
07:48There's lots of good people around.
07:50You just got to find the ones that you can work with.
07:53Once you have a bright one in the crowd, you teach them.
07:56You get them the way you want them.
07:58Okay, Austin.
08:03There.
08:04Yep.
08:07Well, why are you have a bucket?
08:09Why do you lay it in there like you've got f***ing eggs in the c***?
08:14Still can't get over how much dirt fits in that bucket.
08:17Well, you'll get used to it.
08:20By loading full buckets instead of half,
08:24Tony is able to move an extra five tons per bucket,
08:27getting him down to the gold faster.
08:32They put the bucket full in there.
08:34Load the truck.
08:42I have so much fun doing this, pal.
08:44I have trouble walking the f***ing away from this.
08:48Yeah.
08:51La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
08:54Okay, I'll go one more truck.
09:00F***ing, I like this.
09:07Okay, nice, he can see.
09:09F***ing, I'll do it.
09:11Go play.
09:14All right.
09:14Let's go, go, go, go, go.
09:16Let's go.
09:18Ugh.
09:22So it's going to take him a bit to catch on.
09:25He just has to get used to the size of everything.
09:28So as soon as he figures out where he's at
09:30with a bucket and a couple loads,
09:32he'll do this fine.
09:36Yeah, it's quite the experience
09:38to get taught how to operate by Tony Beetz.
09:44It's quite the machine to run.
09:47See, he just figured it out.
09:49It's all stood.
09:58Tony, have you got a copy?
10:01Yeah, go ahead, go ahead.
10:02Your guest has arrived.
10:04Okay, I'll be right there.
10:29Knock, knock.
10:30Knock, knock.
10:31See where the cat drug in?
10:33Hey.
10:50Knock, knock.
10:51How's it going, man?
10:52Good, good, good.
10:53At Indian River,
10:55Tony Beetz' younger brother, Klaas,
10:57has come to visit.
10:59So, long trip up?
11:01Oh, yeah.
11:02Well, you know,
11:03you've done it yourself, right?
11:04Yeah, thanks so well.
11:06The brothers grew up working together
11:08on the family dairy farm in the Netherlands,
11:11where they ran equipment
11:12and looked after the cows.
11:15Tony left for the Klondike
11:16when he was 24 years old
11:18and Klaas was 14.
11:21Over a decade later,
11:23Klaas came to work for Tony,
11:24where he ran dozer,
11:26bringing along his son,
11:28cousin Mike.
11:29Now, Klaas is a superintendent
11:32building custom excavators
11:34for big construction projects,
11:36while cousin Mike
11:37follows in his uncle's footsteps,
11:39chasing gold.
11:41How are you doing?
11:42Good, good, good.
11:43Living the dream.
11:45Oh, yeah.
11:45Pricing gold is good.
11:46Everything is good.
11:47Everything is running.
11:48Hopefully it stays that way, eh?
11:50Well, if not,
11:51take what you can.
11:52Yeah.
11:52I always say
11:53you can always get more gold.
11:55We may not always be able
11:57to get this price.
11:58No.
11:58So your beard is doing not too bad.
12:00Well, I knew you were coming,
12:02so I thought,
12:03hey, maybe I'll try to catch up.
12:05Yeah, well,
12:05I like mine still better than yours, though.
12:07Okay, okay,
12:08but you have more time, too.
12:10It only took one year.
12:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
12:14Well, you know,
12:15you were the first one,
12:16so you're a prototype, eh?
12:17And I'm the second one,
12:19so I'd be perfect.
12:20Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:22When did you ask mom?
12:23Yeah.
12:25Anyway,
12:25I gotta go finish my round.
12:27We should go visit Mike,
12:28so let's go and look him up,
12:30see what the he's doing.
12:32How was that?
12:32Okay?
12:40Michael D. Copy,
12:41Michael D. Copy.
12:43That's the wrong radio attorney.
12:45Well, that shows how smart I am.
12:50Michael D. Copy.
12:52Michael D. Copy.
12:54Len D. Copy.
12:55Anybody copy at the plant?
12:58Maybe I'll turn it on.
13:03I won't tell anybody.
13:06me.
13:08me.
13:10me.
13:15Hey, Michael D. Copy.
13:17Michael D. Copy.
13:20Hey,
13:21there's a guy over there,
13:22you may know.
13:23Why don't you come to camp
13:24and have a look?
13:25I'll have a look.
13:26Sorry.
13:28Are you liking?
13:30Well,
13:30he's not the prettiest.
13:31he's not the prettiest.
13:33Thank you, bro.
13:45Ah, look what showed up.
13:51The young fella.
13:54Hey, Karel.
13:55How are you? Good to see you.
13:57Yeah, been a while.
13:59Been a while, yeah.
14:00Everything okay?
14:01Yeah, good.
14:02How are you?
14:02Yeah, not too bad.
14:04Have a good trip, yeah.
14:07Yeah, it's been a couple of years.
14:08Yeah, quite a few years, yeah.
14:11A lot has changed.
14:12Yeah, quite nice to see everything again.
14:16This is so touching, I almost said it to you.
14:22So how are you getting along with that old guy?
14:25Oh, no, but you just got to...
14:27Put up with this s***, right?
14:29Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:31What do you got?
14:33How's Tony?
14:34Good.
14:36Cousin Mike began working for Tony four years ago.
14:40We'll give him a crest course.
14:41How's that?
14:43He started as an operator
14:45and quickly moved up the ranks.
14:48That's all good,
14:49so I don't have to send you back to your parents?
14:51I don't think so.
14:52You don't hang in there for a while?
14:55Now, Tony's nephew is foreman on the biggest claim
14:59and is one of his most trusted employees.
15:02Looking good.
15:03Drops are gone.
15:04Fire it back up.
15:06So you want to make a rip up to the cat?
15:08Sure, yeah.
15:08Let's have a look.
15:09Okay, jump in, Mike.
15:10Let's go.
15:19So, yeah, last time you were here,
15:20how many years ago was that?
15:22Oh, it was 2011, I think, so...
15:25Oh, that's a couple days back, huh?
15:27Yeah.
15:27Time goes quick, though, doesn't it?
15:29Okay.
15:29And then Michael is here, of course,
15:31and that's all working out great.
15:33He's doing pretty much what you used to do here 15 years ago,
15:37so...
15:37Yeah.
15:37Yeah?
15:38Nice to see him doing that.
15:40Yeah.
15:40Yeah.
15:40Well, nice to see him work, anyway.
15:42My father, like son?
15:43Well, you never know, right?
15:45Yeah.
15:46He's, of course, not as good looking as us.
15:48No.
15:48Oh, yeah, yeah.
15:49He never will.
15:50Is that why you guys are hiding it?
15:52Yeah, yeah.
15:53No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
15:54We're not hiding nothing.
15:56See?
15:58Since Klaus left, the Beat's small family business
16:01has more than doubled in size,
16:04exploding into an ever-expanding empire.
16:08Oh, quite an operation you have going, Tony.
16:10Well, what the f*** is happening, yeah?
16:12Tony is opening up even more ground
16:15on the other side of his claim,
16:16over two miles from where he did his rounds
16:20earlier in the day.
16:22Put that f***ing bucket of dirt
16:24and quit f***ing around all of it.
16:26Where are you?
16:26I throw the f***ing in there.
16:29Yeah, he hasn't had a full bucket yet, so...
16:32That's insane.
16:33Right?
16:34Yeah.
16:35Huh.
16:36Now I'm looking at these rock trucks for a second
16:38to see what the f***ing is happening,
16:40because I'm not happy with this.
16:49Ah, Tony, you know,
16:51I'm just getting a little bit older.
16:52Uh, I think a little bit my older also.
16:58But he still can tell people
17:00what he wants done
17:02and how he wants done.
17:04Oi!
17:05You down there,
17:06can you look at me for a second?
17:08Make sure that that don't f***ing happen again,
17:10would you?
17:11Idiot.
17:13You will get the message across, yeah?
17:15Listen, you f***ing f***ing,
17:17you should have went the other way, you.
17:26What was Tony as a kid?
17:27Well, he, uh,
17:29was my big brother.
17:31We have ten years of difference in between us.
17:33With that big of a difference,
17:35and, uh, you look up to a bigger, older brother,
17:38we have a little bit of the same humor.
17:40So, yeah, I don't know,
17:41it was, uh, fun with him
17:43to work on the farm.
17:50Anyway, this is a little different
17:51than on the farm, huh?
17:53Yeah!
17:54Quite a bit different, yeah.
17:56Yeah.
17:56Something else on milking cows.
17:58That beats the f*** out of milking cows,
18:00I can tell you that much.
18:02Anyway, yeah, I got s*** to do.
18:04You gonna play with Mike a bit
18:05and a dozer?
18:06I will, yeah, I would love to, yeah.
18:08Maybe I have to show you guys
18:10how it's done.
18:13Have fun, boys.
18:16Tony's 63-ton D10 dozers
18:19provide extra muscle
18:20to move overburden
18:22and open up more ground fast.
18:25So here's a D10.
18:27A little newer than the one
18:29we ran 15 years ago.
18:30Still looks nice.
18:32I'll show you the new controls.
18:34Okay, yeah.
18:34And then we'll eat cat on one
18:36and, uh, we'll do some pussing.
18:37Let's do it.
18:41So this is forward and backwards.
18:43Yeah.
18:44Instead of that lever you had then,
18:46and now you steer with the fingers.
18:48Looks like straightforward.
18:49I'll give it a try, Michael.
18:50All right, let's do it.
18:51Yeah.
19:00In this direction, Michael.
19:03Yeah, so that excavator's
19:05sitting there loading trucks.
19:06Let's, uh, sit there side by side
19:08and put some dirt to that excavator.
19:11Okay, let's do it.
19:36Oh, this brings back memories, uh, Michael.
19:40Kind of nice of, uh, doing this again.
19:42It's nice to be doing it together now.
19:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, right.
19:50Oh, kind of proud of you, Michael.
19:52You're all doing this.
19:53I used to do it and now you do it.
19:57Yeah, we didn't think that when, uh,
20:00when you were working here
20:01and I was, uh, 13 years old.
20:03Now, uh, I'm working here
20:05and you're here for a visit.
20:09I think I'm still pushing more dirt
20:11than you do, so...
20:14Beginner's luck.
20:21Still to come.
20:23I put on two bras
20:24and I was expecting
20:25a bumpy ride.
20:27Now, what the...
20:29Oh, for sake!
20:46That's a nice truck, eh?
20:48Yeah.
20:49Uh, shame we don't have more.
20:51At Paradise Hill,
20:52Tony's youngest kids,
20:55Mike and Monica,
20:56have just taken delivery
20:57of a brand new 50-ton rock truck.
21:01Safe travels, Monica.
21:03I'll miss you.
21:04I'll be back tomorrow.
21:05Now, Monica must drive
21:08the $600,000 truck
21:1040 miles to Tony
21:12at the Indian River.
21:17Ooh, this chair!
21:21Come on!
21:23Just...
21:25The A50
21:26is the only
21:27full-suspension,
21:29articulated hauler
21:30of its size,
21:31making for a smooth ride.
21:33Kind of jealous.
21:35Kind of wish I could go
21:36drive it to the Indian.
21:39There seems to be
21:40a bit of, like,
21:41rivalry between
21:42the Indian River
21:42and the Hill,
21:43but you know what?
21:44Like, there's just more
21:45happening out
21:46in the Indian River
21:46right now,
21:47and also
21:49where Tony is
21:50is where the toys
21:51will be.
21:54I'm usually pretty busy
21:55in the Gold Room.
21:56It's kind of, like,
21:57where I'm stuck,
21:58so it's really nice
22:00to be able
22:00to do something new
22:01because, yeah,
22:02it's been a hot minute
22:03since I got to do
22:04something so fun.
22:11The skies are blue,
22:13the leaves are green,
22:14and I'm in the shiniest
22:15yellow truck
22:15in the whole territory.
22:26I just get a bit hungry,
22:28so now I put peanut butter,
22:29and don't be shy, right?
22:32So this way,
22:33you'll have it
22:33all over your face.
22:35Bingo.
22:37And Don,
22:38get some jelly on there.
22:40Bingo.
22:41Then you slap
22:42the two together.
22:44Bingo.
22:45Life is good.
22:49Okay, let's have a look,
22:51see what the rest
22:52of them are doing.
22:57Hey, Tony, Tony,
22:58do you copy?
22:59Yeah, go ahead,
23:00go ahead.
23:01I'm just coming
23:02into the yard
23:03with your new toy.
23:07Anyway, there she is,
23:08$50.
23:09Going right through
23:10a bottle,
23:11imagine that.
23:15Tony's new toy
23:16toy is the first
23:17of its kind
23:17in the Klondike.
23:19Pretty nice looking unit.
23:22The A50
23:23is his biggest
23:24and most powerful truck yet,
23:26with a seven ton increase
23:28in payload capacity
23:29and an extra 47 horsepower
23:32compared to Tony's
23:33smaller A40 rock trucks.
23:38So, what do you think?
23:40Guy's pretty nice?
23:41Fancy.
23:42He's got an air ride seat.
23:44I know.
23:44Didn't even feel
23:45half the bumps.
23:46Like, I'm not even
23:48going to lie.
23:48I put on two bras
23:49expecting a bumpy
23:51ride.
23:52I could have gone
23:52with a sports bra.
23:53I didn't need anything.
23:55But, yeah.
23:56I would almost run
23:57rock truck for a day.
23:58Oh, yeah,
23:58almost would do that.
24:00Really, really.
24:01So, you think we should
24:02hold a ten of them today?
24:03No, let's make sure
24:04people don't this one up first.
24:05Okay.
24:06We'll have to tell your mother
24:07we'll like it.
24:07She'll go,
24:08oh, my God.
24:09off.
24:10Probably.
24:14As you do more,
24:15you cannot keep driving
24:17the old at some point.
24:18You have to renew
24:20your fleet.
24:23If you don't do that,
24:24you're going to be left behind.
24:25There's no ifs and buts about it.
24:27The bigger the truck,
24:28the quicker you move your dirt.
24:29It's all this to it.
24:31Okay, gentlemen,
24:32I'm done.
24:32Bye.
24:52We almost didn't make that.
24:58So, right now,
24:59we're driving by Kevin,
25:00so we're going to have a spy
25:01on that little
25:02just kind of watching
25:03if he's getting any royalties ready.
25:06If he doesn't watch rocks,
25:07I don't get no royalties.
25:10Three miles away
25:12from Indian River,
25:13Tony's oldest son,
25:14Kevin,
25:15is deep in his second year
25:17as a mine boss.
25:19I mean,
25:20we haven't seen much
25:21of Kevin this year,
25:22which is a good thing.
25:23Last year,
25:24he was here every day
25:25bombing and stealing
25:26s**t.
25:27I'm going to sit over there.
25:29That's what you do.
25:30You go get yourself
25:31a high spot
25:33and then you spy on it.
25:39The plant is going,
25:40as usual,
25:42steady rocks.
25:43Kevin seems to be a lot more independent
25:45this year.
25:47Right now,
25:49yeah,
25:49they could really cash in.
25:51The gold prices
25:52are going up
25:53and up
25:53and up
25:54and they've got
25:55a nice piece of ground.
25:57So,
25:57what a time to live.
25:58What a time to start.
26:04Tony,
26:05do you copy Tony?
26:07Go ahead,
26:08go ahead.
26:09We've got a problem
26:10with a D6
26:11by the entrance to camp.
26:13Okay,
26:13what the f**k?
26:14Okay,
26:15I'll be there in a second
26:16and then I'll come
26:16and have a look,
26:17okay?
26:42No,
26:43look at that.
26:44F**k thing is half sunk.
26:46Nice.
26:47F**k me.
26:50At Tony Beat's
26:52Indian River claim,
26:53I mean,
26:54what in the f**k
26:55are you doing down there,
26:56right?
26:56A neighboring miner's
26:58settling pond
26:59has burst its dyke
27:01and the road outside
27:02Tony's claim
27:03has flooded.
27:07Now,
27:08one of Tony's
27:09D6 dozers
27:10has been blindly
27:12driven into a ditch
27:13and is stuck
27:15in the drink.
27:20I mean,
27:21he ran off the road
27:22because he couldn't see it
27:23because of the water.
27:24Instead of going right
27:25down the f**king center,
27:26he decided to take
27:28the side piece,
27:28I guess.
27:29At least the thing
27:30didn't sink
27:31with the guy in it
27:32because that would,
27:33of course,
27:33be a real f**king
27:34disaster.
27:35What the f**k?
27:37Get that excavator
27:38over there
27:38and hurry the f**k up.
27:41To free
27:42the sunken dozer,
27:43Tony will use
27:45his 550 excavator
27:46to grab onto
27:47the blade
27:48of the 25-ton
27:49D6
27:50and pull it out.
28:03Okay,
28:04let me rip
28:04this f**king thing out.
28:09Let's get out.
28:11Come on.
28:12Let's go.
28:58You've got to be kidding me.
29:12Tony has misread the road.
29:16Now, the 550 excavator is stuck, and the inoperable D6 is blocking excess.
29:24Love you, Gabby.
29:27Yeah.
29:28If you can bring that D10.
29:30Okay.
29:34Interesting day.
29:36D6 stuck in the water.
29:38Then Tony tried to pull it out.
29:41Got an excavator stuck, so...
29:43But at least we got the toys to get them out.
29:50If we can get it out without wrecking anything, then it'll be all good.
29:56First, I want this one out of the way, and then we'll come in with a D10 over here.
30:01And then we'll grab the .
30:05Throw a cable on it, rip it out.
30:10We'll hook up the D6 to that.
30:12That's good.
30:12D10.
30:14And then we'll drag it out of here first.
30:17Then we'll worry about the 550 excavator.
30:21Okay, drag the out there, Klaas.
30:24First, Klaas must drag the D6 to the yard, where Tony's mechanics can assess the damage.
30:51Okay, Klaas, that's good.
30:53Thought that was easy.
30:54Nice to have toys.
30:56Drain some water out of it, and we'll be ready back for action, I guess.
31:01But there's got a bat, that's all.
31:03Okay, gentlemen, I want that cable back here.
31:06D6 out of the way.
31:08The Beats brothers now need to rescue Tony's 63-ton 550 excavator.
31:16We're not out of the woods yet, but we'll get it.
31:18We'll get it.
31:19Nothing new.
31:21Okay, Klaas, as soon as they bring the cable in, Bingo will run in here, would you please?
31:26Well, just pull the excavator out, put the cable on it, Bingo, give it a tug, done.
31:34We're good, Klaas.
31:37We're good, Klaas.
31:43We're good, Klaas.
31:44Let's go.
31:45You're good.
32:02We're good.
32:07We're good.
32:13Let's go.
32:26There. All done and over with. So that's how little it takes to get things up.
32:36Coming up.
32:38Hey, Mike, you want to buy a rock truck or something?
32:41Yes.
32:41Hey, I'll go buy a rock truck with it. Done.
32:45Now what we do, we kiss and run the out of here or what?
33:05It is nice to have a good crew.
33:07The more people we get in charge, that means that once in a while, she'll be able to get the
33:12hell out of here for a couple of days.
33:13Here, there, go to the other auction sale. I mean, I don't go fishing.
33:18Tony Beetz is heading to Paradise Hill.
33:22He has one last bit of business to take care of before a date night with Minnie.
33:29I have a buddy coming in. He's going to play with some gold for us.
33:32So anyway, let's go over there and see what he wants to do.
33:46I'm just going to get it in there and let it start heating, see if my tongs are ready. Yeah.
33:51Tony has called in longtime friend and gold smelter, Danny Johnson, to melt some of his gold into bars.
33:59You do the service. Pour that 75 in there.
34:04It's a practice he plans to make part of his growing operation to make storing and moving gold easier.
34:12It would be kind of cool to see melting gold for the first time in real life.
34:16It would be nice to have a bunch of bars laying around.
34:18It looks cooler, too.
34:20Right? It's easy to move.
34:21But hey, Tony, if they're laying around, you can't spend them.
34:26I can still spend them, lady.
34:33So we've done this about 40 years ago, and ever since then, we've never done it.
34:39Are you going to lift the crucible out?
34:42We're going to pull it out and we're going to dump it in.
34:45But now that we're getting it bigger and bigger volumes, we like to melt it and keep some behind, put
34:51it in your safe, whatever.
34:52Instead of that five-gallon bale in the safe, here's a couple of bars of stock.
35:02Now we're just going to turn the heat up and let it cook.
35:07The temperature is around 1900 to melt gold, and we go up another maybe 100 degrees.
35:16Just so it's super liquid, and we can pour it.
35:24Because if you go at 1900 and it's liquid, by the time I lift it up and pour it, it's
35:27solid again.
35:28So we have to have the temperature up a little more.
35:32Let's just put it this way. Don't stick your hand in it.
35:41As one bar cools, another jar of gold is prepped for the crucible.
35:55That's cool.
35:57We'll get all that off, and then we'll wire brush it.
36:01And it should all come up, look, it should all come up quite nice.
36:05I just want to see how heavy it is.
36:07That's cool.
36:21Yeah, you can pour that in there.
36:32Why not have it melted in the bar instead of walking around with this?
36:35It's simpler.
36:36Put it in your pocket, bingo.
36:41Hey, Mike, you want to buy a rock truck or something?
36:44Yes.
36:44Hey, I'll go buy a rock truck with it.
36:46Awesome.
36:46Done.
36:47See you later.
36:48This is about $350,000, 75 ounces.
36:52So, yeah, it won't get you the best rock truck, but it'll get you a rock truck.
36:57But, Mike, he ain't hurting for equipment, but just give him a couple bucks to play with.
37:01I mean, right?
37:05It was nice of Daniel to come up here, show us how it's done.
37:08I mean, I'm sure that it won't be the last time that we're going to melt some.
37:13There's nothing like having gold in your hand, because now you've got a product to sell.
37:18Well, that should be pretty much a million bucks.
37:22There you go.
37:31After a long day on the mine, the king has a rare opportunity to unwind with his queen.
37:39My mini being on the hill, me being in the Indian, we don't really see that mess of each other.
37:47So, today I had some time, so I wanted to pick that girl up, and we'll go for a dinner
37:52or something nice.
37:53What the hell?
37:54You know, I guess we're going to have a date night or something like that.
38:00Hey, Missy, are you ready to go?
38:02Oh, perfect.
38:04Let's go to town, as they say.
38:10Anyway, this is one of the few times we hit for town, or what?
38:13Well, we haven't done this at all, have we?
38:16We're supposed to go for supper with people, and it never happens, it seems like.
38:19Well, it always seems to be something else.
38:21Yeah, there's always something happens.
38:24Good thing for FaceTime, otherwise we'd never see each other.
38:27Oh.
38:27Well, it's true, though.
38:32Here we are.
38:34Here we are.
38:40Young lady.
38:42Young man.
38:43There you go.
38:49Let's have a look what they got, huh?
38:52Food, probably.
38:53Likely.
38:55Hey, how are you?
38:56You're doing well, you're soft.
38:57Good.
38:58Pretty good.
38:59I'll have the pork belly, please.
39:01Hey, could I get the stuffed mushrooms, please?
39:03You got it.
39:03Thanks, man.
39:06How was your visit with your brother?
39:08Yeah, no, no, no, it was all right.
39:09It was nice, show him around, whatever, yeah.
39:11It's kind of funny when you see the both of you together, because you are similar.
39:16You can tell you're from the same family, definitely.
39:19There's no mistake there, is it?
39:20There's no mistake there.
39:21But even with cousin Mike, you can see it.
39:24The way you guys walk, and the way sometimes you talk, and it's like, yeah, you can definitely
39:29tell you guys are all related.
39:32So what do you say on a hot date?
39:34It's been a long time, eh?
39:36When we started dating, that was a long time ago, lady.
39:3978.
39:40So that's 47 years ago.
39:42Did we get on a couch on the first date?
39:44Yeah, we did.
39:49I mean, the first time I danced with you was when we got married.
39:52When we got married, yeah, pretty much.
39:54It was probably the last time, too.
39:58Yeah, yeah.
39:59Anyway, been a good run, eh?
40:01Well, it has been a good run, yeah.
40:04I think so.
40:05Yeah.
40:05All right, Alex.
40:06Hey, perfect.
40:08Enjoy.
40:08I will.
40:10I mean, Kevin seems to be doing okay.
40:12Yeah, it seems to be doing well, this is one on its own, and we'll see what the other
40:18ones want to do, all right?
40:19If you look at the ground and the iron, they're going to leave behind.
40:22Well, they're either going to have a hell of a sale, or they're going to go mining.
40:28At the end of the day, it's up to them.
40:30But, no, we don't be very reasonable in life.
40:33No, we just nicely keep on mining.
40:35There's nothing, as long as you're capable and still enjoy, there is no reason to quit.
40:42I think we did okay in life.
40:45So, it was a hot day, that's it?
40:48I guess it is, you know.
40:49Well, pretty cool, all right?
40:52So, now what we do, we kiss and run the f*** out of here, or what?
40:56Any tongue with that?
40:58Cross the table.
41:02Huh?
41:03No.
41:06No?
41:07No.
41:08No, no.
41:09Okay, dear.
41:10Hmm?
41:11Yes, dear.
41:11Yes, dear.
41:16People don't realize you're a f***y cat.
41:19Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:22We'll make out this one, all right?
41:24All right.
