00:00Brian Thomas Jr., exceptionally gifted athlete, wide receiver out of LSU.
00:07Two seasons ago as a rookie, he was outrageous.
00:11I had him in fantasy.
00:12Helped me get to a title.
00:14Appreciate you, BT.
00:16His rookie season in 2024, he played in all 17 games,
00:21had 87 catches for 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns,
00:25averaged 14.7 yards per reception.
00:27He was really, really excellent.
00:30He was the 23rd overall pick by the Jags out of LSU.
00:35This past season, Jacksonville had a coach of change.
00:38He played in 14 games.
00:40The numbers plummet.
00:4248 catches for 707 yards, only two touchdowns.
00:47Again, 14.7 yards per catch.
00:50So this is a highly skilled, probably kind of consider him a possession guy, 6'2", 210.
00:58Last week, we heard our friend Connor Hughes report,
01:02hey, they are going to listen to offers on Brian Thomas down in Jacksonville.
01:07And it makes sense because their offense this year was really good,
01:11and Brian Thomas wasn't really that involved.
01:13Plus, the new front office, they cleaned house, made this major move for Travis Hunter.
01:18Like, new guys came to town, they started running their operation.
01:23So we heard they're going to take offers on him.
01:26Then we heard Schefter comes out and says they're not listening to offers on Brian Thomas.
01:32Now, we just had, and I am not, I want to be clear, I'm not disputing what Schefter is reporting.
01:40It's silly to do so.
01:41So, but Schefter's commentary was pretty segmented and targeted and specific,
01:48whereas trading a guy like Brian Thomas could happen at any time.
01:51Connor Hughes just joined the program.
01:53If you missed any of our interview with Connor, I recommend checking it out on YouTube
01:56or going to the podcast, Odyssey app, wherever you want to listen to us in the past.
02:02Go for it.
02:04But I asked Connor Hughes about the Brian Thomas situation as it stands now.
02:09Yes, I know that they are entertaining offers, and if I don't, from my understanding,
02:13they don't have any concrete offers for Brian Thomas on the table right now,
02:16which is why that came out that, oh, we're not interested in trading, we're not interested in trading him.
02:19If somebody makes them a compelling offer, they're going to move them.
02:22From everything that I have heard from multiple sources, this is not one person,
02:26this is multiple sources, is that Brian Thomas is available for the right price.
02:30And if somebody wants to go up there and give it to them, look, at the deadline last year,
02:34they weren't moving them.
02:35This year, they're more apt to do it.
02:37They're more apt to do it.
02:38So I would keep an eye on that.
02:40It's not imminent.
02:40I don't think anything's happening within a day or so.
02:42But before the draft, it would not surprise me at all if Brian Thomas was playing for another team.
02:48Before the draft is, you know, we're talking five weeks away.
02:51So I think that's a very relevant tidbit.
02:54How did Scheffler word his thing that they weren't taking offers right now?
03:00I'd have to go back.
03:01Or he wasn't available.
03:02Something like that.
03:03Something like that.
03:05I don't want to make this a who do you believe situation because...
03:09It's not a who do you believe.
03:10Definitely not to me.
03:12Here's what Scheffler said.
03:15Despite speculation, the Jaguars have not been interested in trading Brian Thomas.
03:21So you can take the call and say, hey, we're not interested.
03:24Despite speculation, which means to me someone talked to him and they needed him to put out something because, you
03:32know, he gets stuff rolling.
03:34They hadn't been taking calls, which means I will take calls in the future.
03:39Have not been interested.
03:41No.
03:42Have not been interested.
03:43Which means...
03:44I get your call.
03:44I'm not interested.
03:46Now I'm interested.
03:47You know what I'm saying?
03:48Like, I've been around this thing long enough to understand how stuff works with the people that cover the league
03:58and people that are in the league.
04:01Everybody has somebody that can get something out.
04:05That just sounds like I'm saying something for you.
04:08But they know how it makes people...
04:10How it makes...
04:11That information worked and moved in different ways when it comes out a certain mouth.
04:16I don't know that this is accurate.
04:19But hearing that discussion of a first-round receiver that had a good rookie season...
04:26Now, Brian Thomas' was exceptional.
04:28But a first-round receiver that had a good rookie season, then kind of fell off a bit in the
04:32second season.
04:33Then you have new leadership in charge of the team.
04:37It reminded me of a player.
04:39Who?
04:40Jahan Dotson.
04:41That's exactly what happened here.
04:43Yeah.
04:44Dotson, he dealt with injuries his first year.
04:47But he...
04:47Remember he had seven touchdowns?
04:48Yeah.
04:48Looked like a real red zone threat.
04:50Like, there was a lot to like there.
04:51And then the second year, the numbers dwindled.
04:54He played more, but the numbers dwindled.
04:56And then he gets traded, whatever that was, two weeks into training camp.
05:00I am not saying something with Brian Thomas' imminent.
05:03I think that'd be silly to consider.
05:05But damn it, that's not something worth watching.
05:08Yeah.
05:10And we're going to talk about Brandon Iyuk probably for the next couple days.
05:14Because maybe that moves fast.
05:15Maybe it takes time.
05:17But like, all the stuff with Iyuk is that him and Jaden are so tight from their one year at
05:23Arizona State, I believe.
05:24I believe they overlapped for a season.
05:26I think Brian Thomas and Jaden spent far more time in Baton Rouge.
05:31Yep.
05:33So I don't want to kind of over-hype something that is completely hypothetical at this point.
05:44But that one to me feels a little bit where there's, this might be very, very faint smoke.
05:51This might not be, you know, a charcoal grill or whatever.
05:55But like, that is something to put a pin in and pay attention.
06:00Can you imagine?
06:00Both of them dudes end up on this roster?
06:04If it's a second, granted they don't have one in this draft.
06:08But if you have to come up with the value for a second.
06:10Now he said a fifth this year and something later.
06:13You got that?
06:14Yeah.
06:14Or a player and a third.
06:16Yeah, but six picks, right?
06:18With the extra one in the sixth thing?
06:22I think they have two in the seventh.
06:23I'll get you.
06:24I shouldn't know that by now as we get closer.
06:27Washington has seven, 71, 147, 187, 209, and 223.
06:32Okay.
06:33Six picks.
06:35The real valuable picks, certainly seven and then 71.
06:38Everything else is about 150 or later.
06:40Two of them are after 200.
06:43So they don't have a lot of draft capital.
06:45But you can, I mean, hell, people nowadays can Google the Jimmy Johnson draft chart
06:51and try to come up with the value that makes it work.
06:56I doubt.
06:58The problem is they don't have a fourth either.
07:00You know what I mean?
07:01So you lose this two and the four.
07:03So you'd have to make something like a fifth and a player.
07:06I don't know, really.
07:09Yeah.
07:09But I think it'd be crazy if you weren't at least interested.
07:13I would think they are.
07:14The way you hear it and what we've heard now, it is March 11th.
07:20The NFL draft's not until, I believe, April 26th.
07:23It might be a different date.
07:24And then training camp's not until the end of July.
07:28By week one of the NFL season.
07:32Yeah.
07:33Week one of the NFL season this fall, that Sunday will be the 13th.
07:42It will be Rosh Hashanah to all who celebrate.
07:46Week one, 2026, is Brian Thomas a Jaguar?
07:51No.
07:54I kind of, I don't know that he's a commander, but I kind of feel like he's not a Jaguar.
07:59Yeah, I think he's on the move.
08:03Especially, I haven't tracked what Jacksonville has done so far in free agency, but they're
08:07coming off a really good season.
08:09They're obviously building towards something.
08:11And what coaches want, and organizations want, if they think they're building something and
08:16you're not on our train, see ya.
08:19Maybe it takes time, but.
08:21They do it a lot.
08:22Sometimes they do it, it's a wrong decision.
08:25Sometimes it's a right decision.
08:26Totally.
08:27Sometimes you chase off a good player, like Cam Curl.
08:29I still don't understand that one.
08:31You wanted him gone, he's gone, he's played quite well.
08:34Guitar.
08:34Too.
08:34To.
08:34You
